Questions for Author

- I find the title of your story catchy (because my bday is on 1123) So, why is it like that? Why not “you had me at seenzoned”?

~ HAPPY BIRTHDAY! (haha)

Answer: “You Had Me at Seenzoned” is so cringey (and personally, I won’t read a novel with a title like that huhu) and it’s so obvious what will happen. You can even almost see it like “You Had Me at Seenzoned and this is Happy Ending po” (so I used 11/23 because that’s what Miko wants and I want to prove that Jhing cares for Miko and remembers 11/23’s meaning. #GoExplainMoreRayne) and I haz a thing with numbers and 11:11 but 11:11 is too common on Wattpad so I changed it too military time—thus 23:11 was born.

Like in the sequel, it’s cute when the duology’s title are connected. There’s no date with 23/11 so I just changed it to 11/23.

In short: To make it unique that can make it catchy for people to read the story.

- Are you willing to become Jhing in the TeamLeche story?

~ No. I haz life and story of my own: real and one of a kind.

- Will Miko and Jhing’s parents have a happy ending too?

~ I just thought of something… you mean their parents will get together!? Hahahaha.

Not all questions in a story are meant to be answered especially if it’s not connected to the main plot of the novel In Layman’s term: not applicable.

- Will you reveal how Miko discovered Jhing’s account? That’s what I’m curious about.

~ This has been told in Day 030 of 23:11 and was mentioned at Hashtag 016. What happened to you? Huhu.

- Why do they like to swear in the comment box? Can’t they just post a smile or crying face!?

– OR. They can just comment with feedback and feelings. I like those better than emoticons or curses. Hihi.

- Author, what’s your favorite line of Miko and Jhing, and why?

COUNTLESS OMG. If only I have time to re-read, I would’ve. But after skimming some of the chapters, this is what I chose:

> Jhing: “How can I be optimistic as you? How do you do it? Cope with a smile?” (Hashtag 019)

Reason: Because of this question, I realized two things: Jhing’s jealousy/amazement for Miko, and the craving to be like that herself; positive and can cope with a smile. It’s like accepting her defeat in a vague way, showing that she is also a human who has flaws.

Someone: “You two know each other?”

> Miko: “We met somewhere. I just don’t know if… she still remembers me?” (Hashtag 004)

Reason: It has a double meaning. They met “somewhere,” in the hallway at that day, yes, but their paths crossed long before and Miko was asking Jhing if she remembers it and wondering out loud, hoping that she wouldn’t forget.

- If you will experience an online love like Jhing, are you going to avoid it or fight for it.

~ I’ll be too lazy for it. Why? Because of the ff:

1) I rarely chat.

2) I even forget that I actually have a Facebook account.

3) It depends if he’s handsome… I like handsome men (HAHAHAHA lolzz)

4) I always feel lazy in chatting, texting, calling, or even talking in personal.

5) Slow wifi connection. I get disconnected all the time.

- Does forever not exist? This is already the ending, right?

– What do you mean by forever anyway? To be honest, I’m confused by people’s “idea” of forever because guess what? We all die. So for you, me, us— we literally don’t have any forever because everyone has an ending.

But how do you define forever figuratively? Most likely, figuratively, forever is a lifetimebecause you experience the forever until you die. For me, our death is the limit of our idea of “forever.” Lifetime is equals to forever. YOUR lifetime = YOUR forever.

So yeah, why is the story ending? If it doesn’t have one, all of us won’t be able to move on. No closure. Bwisit.

Then everyday, countless of readers will comment “WHERE IS THE END OF THIS? WHAT THE FUCK MS. AUTHOR JHING (they call me Jhing and not Rayne huhu)” and to tell you the truth, it’s stressful to read the same messages. [😦]

What about you? You don’t want any endings in the novel you read? Should I remove the “The End” and type “There’s no ending because forever exists” just to prove the point that there’s “forever”?

#DidITakeTheQuestionTooSeriously #Sorry [😦]

- How can I move on from 23:11? I don’t know how. I can’t forget Jhing and Miko, it’s so difficult too. It breaks my heart..

~ Just 23:11? Excluding 11/23? HUHU. Haha!

Don’t worry, I’ve wrote AFGITMOLFM (first published book) last 2009 and yet I haven’t completely move on because I keep thinking of them.

So it’s okay not to move on and not to forget. It’s even better not to because that just means that it had an impact on you. You just have to move forward. Just keep on swimming. Just like me. If I didn’t write AFGIT years ago, I wouldn’t be able to write TeamLeche Duology today.

Moving on is not forgetting; it’s moving forward and striving to be better than your yesterday self.

- Do you have a moment where you get pissed or frustrated whenever you write Jhing?

– Never. I feel for Jhing and Miko but a thousand more for Jhing than Miko. She’s much more complicated and interesting than him, in my most honest and sincere opinion.

- What was harder to write: 23:11 o 11/23?

– BOTH.

TwentitriEleben is difficult because: There are times that I want to write the emotions, narrations, and scenarios for readers to understand what is happening clearly; but I can’t, after all I want to maintain the “chat story.” And no one tells everything in the “chat” so it’s hard to add details.

Example: Eye-to-eye moment of Jhing and “Rico”

Rico messaged Jhing that something happened (Day 316/317), but he didn’t tell the step-by-step story because he knows Jhing won’t understand (thus, Jhing’s replies to him) so he only sent hints. He can’t just explain specifically what happened at the moment just for the convenience of the readers, right? That’s why I just wrote a narration (one shot) when they met.

ElebenTwentitri is difficult because: There’s now a narration and I felt pressured because of the expectations of the readers who have long waited for it. I was also trying to limit myself at 2,311 word count every chapter (which I couldn’t do until the end because of my editor huhu). It’s hard to make it a light story too. I got used to writing heavy and tragic genres. I also got nosebleeds because of the English language. I needed a mix of Filipino and English because pure Filipino make a story deeper than it looks.

Lastly, I need to be “JHING BLANCO” to write the narration, even if it’s 3rd POV, it’s hard to stay in character.

Wew. I never stop talking, don’t I?

- Were the writing tips in 11/23 via Jhing on purpose?

– No. It was an accident.

Haha jk.

Yes. I even wanted to write some advice in all the chapters but I’m not really good at writing. I do know my way to substantial editing though: what may or may not work and the basics, so I wanted to share my knowledge however little it is to improve my and the readers writing techniques.

- Did 23:11 and 11/23 happened to you in real life? Or a certain part that “hurts” which happened to you? Based on you?

– Family problems without the physical abuse. Depression.

- Do you believe in 11:11?

– Nope. The reason I am so interested at 11:11 is because my birthday is 11/11. Haha.

- Can you describe your attitude in 5 words as a person and not as a writer?

~ Lazy. Awkward. Passive. OC. Seeker.

- Did you also cry while you write the emotional part of your stories?

~ Not a cryer but this is the first time. Seriously. My tears kept flowing down that I wanted to faint (joke). This is where I cried:

> “His hold tightened around her. “I’m gonna help you. I will do anything for you.”

>

> Jhing also wanted to hold Miko’s hand closer to her and never let go. She wanted to tell him to please, save me but her lips were too stubborn. As for her eyes, she wished Miko could understand the glistening of it.

>

> I can’t do this anymore, she wanted to say.

>

> Miko… help me.

>

> But she couldn’t.

>

> (Hashtag 020)

I had the urge to hug Jhing at that moment.

- Jhing likes running. ??

Miko loves chasing. ??

Their story is interesting. ??

Why would it come to end? ??

– Jhing stopped running already to stop Miko from chasing her. The story of 11/23 won’t be interesting anymore for they’ve already met halfway. And the “denial of feelings and chasing love” plot of it ended already. So why must I continue if I know that it’s already the end? It’ll only bore you to death. I won’t allow you to die. (Hahahaha!)

- Trilogy, please! Married life!

– There are so many trilogies these days, no? I don’t like going with the trends so hello TeamLeche Duology.

- Ate, are you going to MIBF next year? Hehe.

– A lot can happen for a year so let’s see.

- What’s the song title that Lyric composed? :’)

– Wrong story. That’s Twisted Love Story po. You’re in”AskTeamLeche” [😦]

- Where in the Philippines are you imagining the story’s locations?

– Makati City (Jhing’s apartment). Boni (workplace). Lawton (KapeLibro). Quezon City (Miko’s place + coffee | art shop). Greenhills (Miko’s family). Quezon Province (Jhing’s family)

- Will there be any POV for Miko? His feelings about the 11/23?

– No. The story ended that way for a reason: to answer the needed-to-the-main-plot-and-some-sub-plot questions to make a conclusion; and to leave mysteries behind – lingering in a reader’s mind for the years to come. Let Miko and his actions be a mystery to make him more interesting.

- Why do we ask questions? Can’t we find the answers ourselves?

~ It depends on the question.

Some questions are meant to be a question forever. Some questions can only be answered by one person or one mind. While some people questions a lot and are too lazy to go to google.com, type in keywords (example: emoticon), phrases (example: text emoticon), statement of some sort (example: crying text emoticon) or just keep on trying (example: text Japanese emoticon, smiling emoticon + text + Japanese + Chinese + Korean + kyotnese, emoji keyboard app, text flower emoticon) until wanted results are shown.

If you want to know something you’re not aware of, try your best to look for it first before asking someone else. Because when you say “I looked for it but I really can’t find it,” you’re trying to prove something to me and it’s not a cute or a positive thing.

– A lot. It’s hard to pinpoint which one you want to know. The title? Plot? Characters? Which one? Ask me in person and I would be glad to tell you the story of the whole 23:11 | 11/23, even the behind the scenes. [🙂]

- Have you ever encountered that situation in real life? Falling in love or having deep feelings for someone online? Have you ever been screen-zoned?

– Nope.

- What’s Novem’s real name?

– One who knows how to act and portray my characters.

- Where do broken hearts go?

– The heart (broken or pumping or shit) is a muscular organ about the size of a fist, located just behind and slightly left of the breastbone. (c) google

- Who is Sam?

– The Sam Trio (Wer, Wan, and Ting) symbolize a deeper idea than they actually portray. EHEM. They signify a person, or a group of people, who lack the willpower to seek answers by themselves first before asking questions. And a personified campaign of ‘not know the answer? seek google first!’ woohoo!

- Will the gangster with the eyeliner get introduced in another story?

– [😀]
