Chapter 82: Racing Heart

“Let us go, otherwise I’ll cripple your arm and you’ll never be able to lift it again,” Lin Xinyu threatened the man.

The boss’s right arm was dislocated and hung lifeless. He shouted, “You’ve already crippled one of my f*cking arms!”

Lin Xinyu spoke firmly, “Dislocating and realigning bones are easy. If you don’t let us go, your other arm won’t get off so easily.”

The leader heard the confidence in Lin Xinyu’s voice and, after a few minutes, was left with no choice but to heed the threat. Afraid of completely losing an arm, he gritted his teeth and said, “Alright! All of you, get out of the way.”

His subordinates followed the order, opening a path for Lin Xinyu and Zhao Qiang. Lin Xinyu led the way and stopped by the side of the road to hail a taxi. When the car came, Zhao Qiang opened the door and jumped in after him.

Zhao Qiang, still reeling from the encounter, spoke with lingering fear. “That was close, that was close.”

Lin Xinyu was gasping for breath; he quickly took out a pill from his bag and swallowed it.

He had only been attempting at a bluff just now. Luckily, it succeeded. The truth was, his heart was already in his throat. If they came out of the scuffle any later, he would have been unable to bear it.

Inside the taxi, Zhao Qiang was enthusiastically chattering non-stop. “I didn’t expect Lin Xinyu to be so powerful, having an arsenal of skills and tricks up his sleeve, not bad!”

Lin Xinyu couldn’t speak. He rested his head first before saying, “Don’t look for me in the future.”

Zhao Qiang was stunned. He closed his mouth for a while and said, “Oh.”

The car quickly drove to Lin Xinyu’s residential area. Zhao Qiang stopped the car and looked out the window at the high-end residential area. He shouted to Lin Xinyu, “Ai, you live here.”

Lin Xinyu pretended not to hear as he carried his backpack and entered the district.

Zhao Qiang slumped on the windowsill in disappointment as he watched the scene outside the window. After a while, he returned to his usual carefreeness.

He thought it was good for his childhood friend is now living a good life.

When Lin Xinyu returned home at 9.30 PM, Aunt Hui was watching TV alone. She looked up to see him coming back and happily asked, “Do you want to eat supper?”

“Sister?” Lin Xinyu asked.

Auntie Hui shook her head and said she hadn’t come back home yet.

Once again, Lin Xinyu felt a sense of loss. He comforted Aunt Hui before he took a shower and lay down on his bed. However, he found it hard to sleep as he tossed and turned. After some time, he heard the door open and heard footsteps; that should be Lin Xin’s. He was just about to get up when Lin Xin opened the door to his room. He closed his eyes and pretended to be asleep.

Lin Xin saw that the person on the bed was sleeping soundly. She bent down and lightly kissed him on the forehead, then said good night softly and left the room.

Since they were young, it had been her habit to kiss his forehead before he slept. Just like her habit of praising him openly. He liked these habits of hers but he had taken them for granted after some time.

However, when she kissed him, his heart raced, which had never happened before. Thump, thump, thump… He really wanted to jump up and hug her, and then… Then…

In the end, he managed to restrain himself.

He stood up and stuck his ears to the door to listen for sounds outside. He heard Lin Xin eat in the kitchen, take a bath, and enter her room to sleep. When he felt that she was asleep, he tiptoed into her room, opened the door, and softly called out, “Lin Xin.”

Lin Xin did not move. He called out again louder and confirmed that she was asleep. Lin Xinyu lifted the quilt off her body and laid beside her.

Lin Xin had been busy all day and was extremely tired. She fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow. In her sleep, she felt a wooden stick nudging her butt. Uncomfortable, she rolled away and moved to the other edge of the bed.

Lin Xinyu did not dare to move, for fear of waking her up. The whole night, they lay in bed a distance apart from each other.

He slept behind her and mourned. Where will they grow up? He wanted to sleep in the same bed with her every day just like Uncle Cheng and Aunt Hui.

After napping for a while, he reluctantly left Lin Xin’s room.

Last night, Cheng Qingrong didn’t come back. He heard that there was a huge car accident on one of the roads in S City. All medical personnel in their hospital answered the call for rescue; they would probably have to stay in the hospital for more than a week.

Lin Xin still had a lot of things to do today. After hastily eating breakfast, she and Lin Xinyu parted ways. He left for school while Lin Xin went to buy a cell phone and a phone card.

Running back and forth, she took Lin Xinyu’s ID card to the Trade and Industry Bureau to register a technology company. In the afternoon, Lin Xin visited a real estate company to rent a building. She was underage and short, no matter how she pretended to be mature, she still looked like a child.

It was harder to handle than it’d have been for ordinary people. All she did was rent an office building, but she was asked all sorts of things. By the time the real estate confirmed her rental, she was as tired as a dog.

On the other side, Lin Xinyu was unhappy when he heard he was to go to school alone this morning; but he did not dare show it. Carrying his school bag, he went to school. He wasn’t motivated to attend class, so he went through the morning self-study session in a daze.

After the first period, their class welcomed a transfer student — Wu Anan.

T/N: Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve got important stuff to relay.

First thing’s that I’m picking up a novel (Genius Fundamentals).

Yes, I realize it hasn’t been thirty days since the last release but worry not! I’ve spoken with River Bank and they were happy to pass on the project.

Another point y’all shouldn’t worry over is the schedule for GRSML getting any slower than it already… ahem I will stack them chapters before dividing my attention to prevent any problems from occurring.

Second but not least (oof, I really shoulda started with dis one)…

If, just if I happen to see 40 patrons on my page by the end of October, supporting my (hopes and dreams) translations, I’ll bust my butt to bring y’all twice the chapters I’d release over the course of two months, November and December. I won’t get my hopes up, might regret sacrificing the holidays (yeah no chance lol). Your support means the world to me!

Thank you! Bows out.

P.S. Super hyped to translate new project, thank you once again River Bank!

P.P.S. My 5 patrons goal has been reached! https://tenor.com/KwuH.gif
