Smack…
The whip lashing and sticking unto Jin Cheng’s body tore off his leather armor and fell directly to the ground. Blood stained his body whole, face morphed to one of fear as his lips trembled—unsure of what he’d bore witness to.
Jin Mulan, their young lady respected and cared for her servants, her warriors.
Never in a million years did he expect to receive a whip from the soles of her fingers all for the sake of Shen Lang, her newly wedded husband.
Shen Lang recently entered the Count’s Palace not too long ago. In Jin Cheng’s view, and quite possibly all others, his position was no less than that of a young man who grew up within the Count’s Palace.
“Two reasons. You were punished for two reasons,” Jin Mulan said coldly. “The first reason, you cannot turn your back on someone hovering between life and death. It is against the etiquette and code of conduct of my House of Jin.”【 I 】
“Secondly,” she paused for added effect. “Shen Lang is my husband and he is your master. You have been disrespectful towards him. You should do well to correct your behavior.”
Jin Cheng’s frightened lips quivered. He bowed his head and kowtowed, an act of subservient submission. “This humble servant will do his duties well…”
“Very well. Carry on.” Jin Mulan turned around and carried Da Sha into the courtyard of the Count’s Palace to be treated.
Soon, Doctor An made his timely appearance. His hands quickly moved and examined Da Sha’s crippling injuries. “The most important thing which needs immediate care are the fractured ribs, internal injuries on the five viscera, internal bleeding on the lungs and organs, and perhaps a small dose of bleeding on the side of his liver.”
Shen Lang’s lips parted slightly, marveled at Doctor An’s profound medical skills. He was brilliant. He had no golden system at hand but he was able to judge 78% percent of Da Sha’s injuries fairly well.
Shen Lang felt confident.
Combined with Doctor An and his medical skills, they should be able to treat Da Sha’s injuries in no time, at least that is what he had in mind for his greatest concern was that Doctor An may not be able to pinpoint Da Sha’s bleeding point and congestion. We’re the scenario to occur, Shen Lang would come in and pinpoint them out accurately.
Doctor An leaned closer and examined Da Sha’s wound carefully as he marked his body with a pen along the way.
“This wound comes from the tiger and not one of a martial practitioner. The surface and internal injuries shows consistency so it won’t be difficult to judge the location of the patient’s internal bleeding,” Doctor An said. “The next step is…”
Doctor An explained to all parties concerned the procedures he would go through to tend to Da Sha’s crippling injuries.
As Shen Lang predicted, Doctor An also accurately pinpointed the bleeding internal points.
What a great man, Shen Lang thought.
Nonetheless, Shen Lang’s medical skills were far more superior than Doctor An’s—especially in the ways of handling complicated ailments and diseases. Not to mention his golden system, it would be impossible to find another man able to surpass Shen Lang’s medical skill.
But regardless, Shen Lang had to give Doctor An props. He was rather professional when treating his foolish friend. Even under crucial conditions like this, Shen Lang doubted whether he too would be able to perform with a clear state of mind.
“Doctor An, are you able to treat him?” Jin Mulan interjected.
Doctor An smiled. “It’s no problem at all. He can be cured, but it will take time… and the use of valuable medicines and herbs. In fact, I’m surprised he hasn’t died yet despite his current injuries. What an admirable man.”
Next, his quick hands moved about and began treating the Da Sha meticulously.
His assistant fed him the best ginseng soup through his parted mouth bit by bit.
Da Sha had a strong body, truly. After a little feeding of the ginseng soup, his once ruddy face calmed and laborious breathing was now steady.
Doctor An was surprised. “This fool’s body can’t be found among one in a thousand. It’s a rare body type!”
While saying so, he precisely drained the excess blood accumulated inside Da Sha’s body. While the process occurred, Da Sha looked more stable, his breathing more steady.
“Husband,” Jin Mulan touched Shen Lang’s shoulder. “Your Elder Brother isn’t in any danger.”
“His name is Big Fool,” Shen Lang said. “And he isn’t my Elder Brother.”【 II 】
Meanwhile, the Count leaned over. “Shen Lang, you come with me to my study room.”
Shen Lang nodded and looked at Da Sha. He felt a slight reluctance to leave him be.
“Rest assured, husband. There won’t be any problem here. It looks like father has something of importance that he’d like to speak to you in private. You should go.”

【 I 】“….conduct of the House of Jin…” In this scenario, the House essentially refers to the Count’s Palace. A good reference would be the Western Europe monarchy wherein many nobles and/or royals are descendants coming from the House of Windsor, House of Stuart, etc…
【 II 】 “….his name is Da Sha…” A slight wordplay. Though his name is Da Sha, it also stands for giant/big + stupid/fool. Jin Mulan heard his name as Big Fool rather than Da Sha. This will be explained later in the story, albeit indirectly.
