Test of Teamwork – Part 14

This chapter is updated by NovelFree.ml

After everyone ate the lunch boxes that Kakashi had prepared (they actually should have served as bait for fools that wanted to eat them during the execise, thinking that no one would know), they all stood up and waited for Kakashi to give the signal for the start of the exercise.

Naru stood next to Sasuke as they held hands.

“His hand comforts me, it makes me feel safe … just like my brother’s does. Sorry Nii-chan~, I think I’ll be holding his hand from now, when we three are together somewhere~.” Naru thought as she looked down at their interlocked fingers. She slightly tightened her hold on his hand and when he noticed, he did the same, which made her smile at him sweetly

“Alright, you four, the fight starts … now!” Kakashi said and instantly four figures vanished into the forest, seeking a hiding place.

Naru and Sasuke were close to each other and Naruto was also not far away from them.

Only Sakura was on the other side of the clearing in which Kakashi stood.

Kakashi had taken out an orange book that read “Icha-Icha Paradise”, And he had a slight blush covering his face as he read it.

“Oh … wow, somehow I remember that book. It should be written by Jiraiya, one of the Sannin.” Naru thought, recognizing the book’s title.

The atmosphere becomes tense as the seconds pass.

Naru looked at Naruto that was only a few meters away from her and Sasuke: “Let’s coordinate our attack?”

Naruto nodded before looking at Sasuke: “Naru and I know what we can do, we will attack and take most of his attention. We’ll force him to stop reading!” Naruto smirked.

“Sounds good. I’ll wait for the right moment to attack out of the shadows. But he can probably sense us anyway … so, maybe try to force him to get closer to my hiding spot, so he cannot escape?” Sasuke proposed.

“Sounds good, let’s just try it. We are still Genin and he is a Jonin … the chance of even getting one bell is incredibly slim, even if we work together as a team perfectly. Sakura is sadly on the other side and it’ll be hard to properly include her in our plan.” Naruto said.

“Hmm … maybe we can somehow signal her to attack with some kunai? She does have pretty good accuracy, but honestly, due to her low chakra pool, she probably cannot really do much in terms of actual jutsu yet. Maybe she can distract him with us, use a clone jutsu maybe?” Naru reasoned.

They all knew that Sakura was quite useless right now, but … they’d change that. They will help her to become a useful asset to their team. That was their job because she had already proven herself to be willing to learn, they would certainly not give up on her now.

They all vowed to themselves that they’d ask Kakashi later as to which part Sakura would play on their team.

Naruto looked at Naru: “Let’s go.”

Instantly, Naru shot out of the bush, her sword gripped tightly in her right hand.

She infused a low amount of chakra into her arm and swung at Kakashi who seemed to not have noticed her yet.

Just before the sword connected with Kakashi’s body, he jumped into the sky and the strike thus missed.

He looked down at Naru with wide-open eyes that could not conceal his surprise.

“Wow, you really know how to conceal your chakra presence … if I hadn’t sensed your killing intent (A/N: I’ve used intent to attack before, but I felt that “killing intent” seems better), I would’ve been a goner just now. I knew that your brother and Sasuke were in that bush you came out from, but I couldn’t sense you at all …” Kakashi mused before landing safely on the ground.

Naru once again infused chakra into her arm and rushed towards him, albeit not using her full speed. He did not need to know about her true capabilities … at least not yet.

Kakashi quickly realized that reading a book would only cause him unnecessary problems. And just as he put it back into his pouch, several clones of Naruto stormed at him.

He was now attacked from both sides, having to dodge simple, but fast sword strikes and dispersing one clone with every single one of his strikes. The clones seemed endless … and the sword strikes never grew weaker.

As he dodged, he noticed that they were gradually forcing him to close in on a bush that had Sasuke hidden in it. He could have some more advanced techniques and jutsu to escape, but he was curious as to what exactly they planned on achieving with this.

“Wow~, they really know how to coordinate their attacks, just as I expected. A normal Jonin would not even be able to hold out for long under the continuous attack from the twins. Also … their chakra reserves are crazy big … I mean, I knew that having one half of the Kyuubi sealed inside of them would give them a huge advantage chakra-wise and I have also already sensed their huge chakra pool, but I didn’t think they’d already know to make use of it. No, perhaps they don’t really know of it … perhaps it’s an instinct? Naru uses lots of chakra within every strike, making her arm’s muscles stronger and her strikes faster. The weight behind her strikes continues rising as she becomes faster every second. She has great potential to be a swordfighter … but, alas, the academy swordsmanship is incredibly predictable … and by now, even if she uses it to train her instincts, it only serves to hold her back.” Kakashi thinks while easily dodging the swords strikes and the simple academy taijutsu that Naruto’s clones used to attack him.

“You two really have potential … you’ll become great shinobi one day!” He said, smiling at them. These were his sensei’s children … of course they’d become strong. They needed to, also because they were Jinchuuriki.

At some point, three kunai shot out of a bush on the other side of the clearing, where they had gradually been moving away from.

Those three kunai weren’t thrown randomly, and they aimed at three different spots on Kakashi body, that was currently in the air because he had been, once again, forced to jump over a sword strike that Naru had thrown at him.

Kakashi’s eyes widened: “What?!”

He quickly took out his own kunai and easily deflected two of the kunai that rushed at him at a high speed … however, the last kunai hit the side of his calf, drawing blood.

In shock, he fell to the ground. However, the twins would never gave him a chance to rest. Naru disappeared from his sight and instantly reappeared before him, slashing her sword at him.

To everyone’s surprise, the attack seemed to have connected. Even Sasuke revealed his head to get a better look at his sensei.

However, soon smoke rose around Kakashi’s form and it revealed that a block of wood had taken his place.

“Sigh … replacement technique …” Naru thought, slightly annoyed at having hit a tree, but also glad that her new sensei hadn’t been injured. That strike could very well have cut open his stomach, which would have been a very serious injury and she didn’t if they could have gotten him healed in time. But she had believed that her sensei would be able to dodge her attack, he had done that all the time during their fight just now. No matter at which angle or which speed she attacked, he had dodged.

Sure, she hadn’t gone above a certain level of chakra infused in her strikes … she also had not used the shunshin no jutsu much, there were still things she could do without revealing too many of her skills that she should not have. Honestly, she just wanted to enjoy fighting and slashing at him with her sword for a bit. Still, Kakashi-sensei was strong … and that made her happy. He could teach them many things and he certainly had not shown the full extent of his own power yet either. Especially that familiar dojutsu she had sensed behind his hitai-ate.

Kakashi reappeared in the middle of the clearing where he had stood in the beginning.

He clapped while looking at the four teens that stood in the clearing looking at him with slightly widened eyes: “Gave you a scare, didn’t I~?”

He laughed.

“Damn you sensei, I thought you had actually gotten hurt!” Sakura shouted, while heaving a relieved sigh.

Naruto turned to Naru and they nodded at each before Naruto started laughing loudly, he had had lots of fun right now trying to get the bells from their sensei. Even if they had ultimately only exhausted themselves and did not get the bells, he still had fun.

Sasuke was feeling slightly bad about not having contributed much … but he just had to agree that having the twins distract their sensei was the best plan with their current knowledge about each other’s skills. They’d really need to learn more about each other before actually going out to fight other people.

Sasuke looked at Naru that was laughing softly with closed eyes, he couldn’t suppress a smile: “But, it’s all good as long as she had fun.”

Naru turned towards Kakashi and slowly walked up to him.

She smiled at him while opening her arms, clearly sending the signal for him to hug her: “I’m glad you are okay Sensei, I was actually slightly worried, even though I knew that you certainly had the capabilities to dodge that strike. Don’t do that again when we train in the future … okay~?” She gave him a smile that was as sweet as honey~.

Kakashi’s eyes widened … looking at the smile on her face that was like the one his teacher had, he couldn’t help but move in to hug the small girl. Normally, he would never do such a thing … but …

Soon, they let go of each other again and Naru turned around to her three teammates and smirked at them before slowly raising her hand, the sound of bells chiming soon reaching everyone’s ears.

“Hehe~” Naru giggled.

(A/N: Honeytrap?!)

“I knew you planned something Sis … “ Naruto sighed while smiling at his sister.

“Pfff~” Sakura couldn’t suppress a loud, happy, laugh. The new teammates she had gotten were so different from what everyone had always told her … and, honestly, she liked them. She liked them and she would do her best to be of use to the team! She couldn’t allow herself to be useless for much longer!

Sasuke walked up to Naru and patted her head while smiling at her.

“Oh … oh …” Naru was stunned for a second before a blush covered her face.

“Now, aren’t you the cuter one?~” Sasuke teased. Now that she was his … he wouldn’t hesitate anymore. Just like she had done with him, he would tease her now. He liked it when she blushed while being shown affection like this.

Watching his students, Kakashi couldn’t help but laugh: “To think that I’d fall to one of the oldest tricks in the book ‘seduction’ and ‘cute girls’!~”

He didn’t mind though … he really liked his new Genin team and he’d do everything to protect them. He couldn’t handle losing more people that he loved … and he was sure that he wouldn’t be able to not love these four …

Team 7 had soon left the training ground to eat ramen at Ichiraku’s, Kakashi’s treat, before separating for the day.

[Later, in the twin’s apartment]

“Naru, you really like those bells huh~.” Naruto teased while looking at his sister that had tied one bell each around her ankles.

“Yea~, I love the sound that they make when I walk!” Naru giggled.

“You do know that these could cause problems in future missions, right~?” Naruto asked, slightly concerned about their future stealth missions, but still looking at her with a kind smile plastered on his face. He loved it when she was happy, she should do what she wanted to do, and he knew that she thought the same about him too. That’s the bond they had formed across the years and he knew that it was nearly unbreakable by now.

“No~, they won’t know!” Naru giggled while soundlessly walking through their apartment.

Surprisingly her steps did not move the bells, in fact, when she moved there was no sound at all. Her chakra was also concealed, so if Naruto did not actually see her right in front of his eyes, he would not even know that she was there. She was just that good at concealing her whole presence. Granted, Naruto wasn’t the best sensor out there … but he was certainly able to feel chakra around him, even if his ability to do so wasn’t as good as his sister’s.

The twins continued talking for a while before finally entering their respective bedrooms and going to sleep. They had gotten to know so much more about their new team … and Naru had even gotten into a relationship with Sasuke. She almost did not want to part ways with him after they finished eating at Ichiraku today! But alas, they still lived at different places, so they inevitably had to separate. Though, not without another tight hug and a deep and long kiss that had left Naru to be nothing more than a blushing mess, she couldn’t even properly form words after tasting his soft lips again~.
