First C-Rank Mission (3) – Part 17

The team arrived at Tazuna’s house and his daughter Tsunami, together with Sakura that could already use weak healing jutsu, saw to it that Kakashi’s wounds were tended to. This all would help Kakashi recover in due time.

A day later, when Sakura was watching Kakashi, making sure that his condition did not worsen, he finally opened his eyes.

Sakura’s mood instantly brightened, and she ran out of the room to alert the others.

Once back inside, they helped Kakashi sit up.

“So, you made it back here in one piece, that’s good.” He joked, clearly knowing that the rest of the way towards Tazuna’s house had not been long or difficult.

Everyone smiled at his antics, relieved that their sensei was still the same old sensei they had come to know.

Naru sat next to Sasuke, putting her head on his shoulder and closing her eyes in content.

But when she noticed Kakashi stare at her, she opened her eyes to look at him: “Hmm~?”

“Naruko … do you want to talk about your strange ability? That was not something you should be able to do.” Kakashi said and instantly all attention was on her.

“I know, but why don’t we leave that until we get back to Konoha? Nii-chan needs to know some more things about the fox inside of him too. And especially about who his parents were.” She said, while closing her eyes again, clearly signaling that that was the end of their discussion.

Sasuke moved a hand up to her face and gently stroked her cheek: “Let’s do that then.” He smiled.

His life had been so peaceful ever since Naru had come into it. Honestly, his revenge was not as important as Naru anymore. If he were to ask her to help him … he was sure that she would not object. But he would not do that. This was his revenge, he needed to achieve it on his own and he would strive hard to become stronger for it. Because only once it was fully achieved, could he focus all of his attention on Naru and only on her.

“*Sigh*, alright. Let’s do that then.” Kakashi sighed.

“Kurama, what do I need to know about you?” Naruto asked the old fox inside of his mind.

“Patience, kit. She already said that you’d know once you are back in Konoha, accept her decision, okay? I won’t say anything~.” Kurama said in a slightly teasing voice.

“Alright, alright.” Naruto sighed.

“Okay, listen up. That guy, Zabuza, he is still alive. That’s the conclusion I’ve come to.” Kakashi said to the five people around him. Tazuna had at some point joined them too.

“Eh?” Sakura’s eyes widened slightly.

“Well, something did feel off.” Naru said.

“Kurama said that too!” Naruto added, he had only just remembered that the fox had said something along those lines back then.

“So, what do we do?” Sasuke asked Kakashi.

“My team is really nice, they accepted that so easily. I had thought them to be a little more like Sakura to be honest, but even she looks convinced after her teammates voiced their opinions.” Kakashi thought, watching his four Genins look at him.

“Alright, since he and his accomplice, that Oi-nin, will be back, we will need to train. I will not be able to fight for a little longer, so we’ll need to do something a bit different than normal. Let’s train chakra control instead.” Kakashi said.

“Chakra control?” Naruto asked.

“Yes. Chakra control. Come, let’s go outside. I’ll tell you what to do.” Kakashi said.

Soon, the group was seen exiting the house and going into the forest.

Kakashi was walking with Naruto on one and Sakura on his other side. They seemed to wait for him to fall over so they could help him up, as he was walking with crutches.

Naru and Sasuke walked behind them holding hands, like they always did lately.

“What do you think he’ll make us do?” Sasuke asked Naru.

“Don’t know. I know that I’ll be good at it though~. My inherent chakra control is realllyyy~ good after all!” Naru giggled, which earned her a few pats on the head. In whose response she could only purr in satisfaction.

“You really are weak to head pats, huh~” Sasuke chuckled.

“Hehe~” Naru smiled while letting the bells on her ankles ring during her steps, signifying her happiness.

Sasuke smiled fondly at the girl next to him. She was his and he was hers, that’s the relationship they decided to have with each other. And they only grew closer every day, their affection deepening. They were both happy as long as the other was too.

Soon, Kakashi stopped and said: “Today, you all are gonna climb trees. And no, not the normal way, you are gonna climb trees without using your hands.”

“Eh?” Naruto was bewildered. He just couldn’t really understand how that was gonna work.

“Look, I’m gonna show it to you.” Kakashi said as he walked up to a tree.

He placed one foot onto the tree and then the other.

Soon, he was standing on a tree branch, looking down at them: “See, that’s how it goes. You need to focus your chakra on your soles. That’s the trick to it. Learn this and your chakra control will increase by a good amount.”

Kakashi slowly walked down again and sat on a nearby stone.

As no one was moving, Kakashi looked at them in wonder: “Go on, start. You can also try running up to it if you want? It might be easier for starters.”

Naruto instantly ran up to a tree and tried walking up to the top. Soon, however, he fell back down his butt hitting the ground.

“Ouch!” He shouted.

“Sigh, Nii-chan~ you really are helpless sometimes. Look at how it’s done!” Naru said as she slowly let go of Sasuke’s hand and walked towards a tree.

She focused a bit of her chakra onto her soles and soon stood sideways on the tree, calmly walking up and down.

She had done these kinds of things a lot of times back in the forests at home.

She had even already walked on water and the like, it was all natural for her, she did not even need to try hard for it.

“See? Just focus the correct amount of chakra onto your soles and you’ll be okay. Use too much, or too little and you’ll fail.” Naru encouraged before walking down again and sitting down on the grass next to Kakashi.

“Ugh … an insect …” Naru’s face warped in disgust. She had actually forgotten to put on the coat, which had instantly caused an insect to walk onto her hand.

“Die.” She said with cold eyes as the insect was instantly evaporated by golden flames that appeared out of nowhere.

“Wow~” Kakashi mused, sitting right next to her and having seen the whole thing.

“Didn’t know you could create fire from nothing Naruko~.” Kakashi teased with a close-eyed smile on his face.

“Sigh, I’m gonna explain at home, okay?” Naru couldn’t help but sigh at her stupidity. She wanted to hide it but had let her dislike for insects get the better of her. Anyway … now that Kakashi knew, she wouldn’t exactly need to hide her ability to create elements out of nowhere anymore. She would tell them about everything back home. If Kakashi then decided to tell the Hokage about this … and she were to be forced to do something she does not want to do, then she would ask Sasuke and Naruto about what they wanted to do … and if they were fine with leaving, then Konoha would experience another Kyuubi’s attack. She did not want her trust betrayed and she would not accept that either.

At the thought of betrayal, her face warped in displeasure and anger.

Kakashi noticed her mood change and looked at her, only to feel a slight pressure on his entire being, that made it hard to breathe. He was having flashbacks to the night of the Kyuubi’s attack where he had felt a similar hatred-filled pressure.

“Naruko?” He asked, slightly worried about her current, rather angry, demeanor.

Naru looked up at him and saw his worried expression. She sighed and closed her eyes for a second before opening them again and giving him her usual smile.

“It’s okay, sensei~.” She giggled. Kakashi was visibly relieved.

They both then turned to look at the three teens that were trying to climb the trees.

Sakura had actually easily reached the treetop and sat on a branch while teasing the two boys about their continual failure at climbing the trees, which was actually “very easy”, or so she said.

Naru laughed softly, seeing the three of them bicker with each other.

She liked this. This peacefulness. She did not want things to become hectic again, like they were in the fight against Zabuza.

If possible, she wanted the man to stop attacking. But, alas, that was not her choice. And if he hurt the ones that she loved, then she would simply erase him and his little friend from existence. That’s the only thing that awaited those that hurt the things that she loved.

There was only pain for those people.

At some point, Naru had fallen asleep, peacefully lying on the grass after having taken off her shoes, as her feet were feeling slightly too warm for her tastes.

She was still wearing her black tights and her jacket though.

She really liked wearing her black and orange jacket with the Uzumaki spiral on its back lately. It made her feel close to her brother who wore something similar, just with a bit more orange in it.

Over her tights, she wore black shorts that stuck closely to her body, slightly making her curves stick out. Her jacket had actually also become tighter around her chest area. That seemed to be the only area still growing on her body, together with her butt, that is.

Her height hadn’t grown for quite a while, which she was thankful for, she had already reached her “ideal” height that she always wished to have, so it was okay for it not to grow any further.

Sometime after Naru had fallen asleep, Kakashi and Sakura had left to protect Tazuna. The boys were still going at it, trying to climb the trees and getting better at it with every try.

Whenever they made small breaks, they watched Naru sleep, looking at her peaceful expression and instantly feeling refreshed and motivated to continue.

At some point, Naru had woken up and the three of them walked home.

At lunch that day, they met Inari, Tazuna’s grandson, who acted rather rudely and insulted their efforts at training as being useless.

He said that trying to play the hero would get them killed and they weren’t strong enough to save anyone.

Naruto had gotten angry at him and caused Inari to run away in tears.

After Inari had left, Sakura, not being able to hold in her curiosity, but having already kind of guessed who it was and refrained from asking about it due to possibly being insensitive towards the child, asked about the torn-out piece of their family picture.

Her guess was confirmed when Tazuna explained who, Kaiza, a person hailed as a hero among the villagers was. Kaiza was Inari’s father, someone who had single-handedly managed to close the floodgates which had earned him the respect of the villagers.

Once Gato came, however, Kaiza’s actions were frowned upon and Gato had him executed right in front of the villagers, including Inari.

This had explained Inari’s outburst earlier into their meal. Naruto was determined to show Inari that heroes did exist.

Naruto quickly finished eating and rushed off to continue training.

Sometime later that day, they all retired to their rooms to sleep.

The girls occupied one room and the boys the other. They fell asleep as soon as their heads hit their pillow, having had quite an exhausting day after all. Though, Naru had more or less just mastered the art of falling asleep quickly~, instead of really being exhausted.
