Chunin-Exams (2) – Part 22

A/N: So, actually, they were asked to go to the Ninja-Academy … so that’s where they’ll be going.

“Let’s go in?” Sasuke asked his three teammates.

They nodded and entered the gates of the academy.

As they ascended the stairs into the second floor, they heard some loud arguing.

“Let’s see what this is about.” Naruto said.

Naruto walked in first, Sasuke following just behind him. This time, Sasuke was not holding Naru’s hand like they always did because she was at the back with Sakura talking about medical-ninjutsu.

Nevertheless, the two girls followed the boys into the second floor.

There they found some people standing in front of a door that said “301”, the room where they needed to bring their forms to.

“Weird.” Naru thought. “This is the second floor.”

She looked at Sakura who nodded at her, also having noticed the strangeness of this situation.

The few Genin standing before that room, however, seemed to not have noticed the problem yet though.

Just now, a young man in a green jumpsuit was punched back by two intimidating young men standing in front of the door. They were clearly blocking the way for the other people that wanted to enter the false room 301.

Naru walked forward, catching up with Naruto and Sasuke.

She grabbed their hands and pulled them down, so she could talk into their ears.

She whispered: “This is a genjutsu, this is not the actual room 301, so be careful.”

The boys felt her soft voice reach their ears and nodded.

Naru let go of Naruto’s hand, choosing to keep holding Sasuke’s, which made her brother slightly sad, but he still smiled like always.

“Haha, kit! She seems to prefer that Uchiha over you!” Kurama laughed, which not only Naruto, but also Naru heard.

Naru turned to look at Naruto’s stomach with a displeased expression on her face, which seemed to say: “Stop talking nonsense.”

Naru liked both of them a lot after all!

At this point in time, another person, probably a teammate of the guy with the bushy eyebrows was hit in her face, causing her to fall to the ground.

“You all should just go back and give up! You are too young to become Chunin! Do you even know the responsibilities that you’d have? The lives of your squad mates will weigh heavily on your shoulders if you mess up only once! You children don’t even have the resolve needed for that!” One of the guys blocking the door said.

Sasuke stroked Naru’s hand, before letting go of it and walking towards the two that blocked the doors.

“It’d do you best to just move away now and let us through. Also, just undo that genjutsu you put upon the door. Team 7 is going to the third floor now!” He said.

The young men in front of the door widened their eyes in surprise: “So you saw through us? No matter … that’s okay …”

They smiled at each other and one of them started rushing at Sasuke, moving in to kick him.

Sasuke responded in kind, and just as they were about to hit each other’s leg, a green figure sped between them and stopped their kicks.

Noticing that they wouldn’t be able to move the man that stopped them, they lowered their legs and the two guys that blocked the door vanished.

Sasuke looked at the guy in the green jumpsuit in wonder: “His chakra is very weird and his taijutsu is clearly advanced. Interesting.”

The green clothed guy walked towards Team 7, coming to a stop in front of Sakura.

“Sakura-san, my name is Rock Lee and I’ll protect you for all my life, please go out with me!” He shouted.

Sakura was bewildered, before giving him an awkward smile and saying: “Shouldn’t we try to get to know each other first?”

At this point, a teammate of Lee shouted from behind him: “Lee, didn’t we want to hide our strengths?”

The girl beside him said: “Just leave it, Neji. Lee only has eyes for Sakura right now … sigh.”

“It seems like you are right, Tenten.” Neji sighed as well, before looking at Sasuke who had moved back to Naru’s side to take her hand.

“Who are you?” Neji asked Sasuke.

“Who am I? Shouldn’t you introduce yourself first?” Sasuke said.

“You are a rookie, right? How old are you?” Neji asked again, ignoring Sasuke’s answer.

“Rude.” Naru said, pouting slightly. She had already noticed that this guy was a part of the proud Hyuga-Clan because of his eyes. However, Hinata was nothing like him and she liked Hinata much more!

Sasuke patted her head and smiled at her cute expression: “Right. My little fox~ does not need to pay attention to people she doesn’t like. People like him are insignificant.”

As Naru was enjoying the head pats, they heard Naruto say: “Let’s go?”

They nodded and, together with Sakura, they moved upwards to the actual 3rd floor.

As they ascended the stairs, Sasuke said towards his teammates: “There are some really interesting people at this year’s Chunin-Exams, don’t you agree?”

Naruto nodded: “Yea, especially the sand Genin. Kankuro will pay for how he treated Konohamaru~.” Naruto said, smiling slightly.

Naru whispered into Sasuke’s ear: “You really wanna fight those stronger Genin, right~? Gaara, Neji and Lee, right~?”

Sasuke nodded, patting her head: “You know me so well, little fox~.”

Naru giggled, she really liked this new nickname that he chose for her.

It was something precious, something just between the two of them and she loved the way it made her seem especially cute~.

Soon, they arrived at the 3rd floor.

And, just as they were about to continue walking towards the actual room 301, they heard a familiar voice call out to them.

“You, with the dark-hair and the beauty by your side! Let’s fight!” Lee shouted at Sasuke.

Sasuke turned around to look at him: “Right now?”

Lee nodded: “Right now! Let’s fight! My name is Rock Lee, you said that those that want to know someone’s name, needed to introduce themselves first right, Sasuke Uchiha-kun?!”

“Right. Do you really wanna fight, right here, right now?” Sasuke asked.

Lee nodded again and got into a fighting position: “Yes! Especially because … (looks at Sakura) I love Sakura-san and I remember that she really liked you!”

Sakura noticed his stare and said with a wry smile: “No, no. We really should try to get to know each other first.”

Lee totally ignored her words and just smiled at her: “You really are an angel, Sakura-san!”

“Y-Yes …” Sakura sighed, clearly fed up with his behavior.

Sasuke looked at Lee: “You know who I am, and you still want to fight?”

Lee nodded and made a hand motion, urging for Sasuke to come at him.

Sasuke turned to look at Naru and asked: “Wait for me, okay?”

“Mhm~.” Naru nodded and let get of his hand.

Sasuke turned to Lee and said: “Let’s go then.”

“Against him, I’ll need my Sharingan. Judging from my earlier interaction with him, he uses some very strange abilities, my Sharingan should be able to see through it.” Sasuke thought as his eyes started to change.

“The Sharingan, huh.” Lee said.

“Yes, be honored that you get to see it.” Sasuke said, prideful in his clan’s dojutsu.

“Come at me!” Lee shouted.

Sasuke did not keep him waiting and rushed at him.

As soon as they reached each other, Sasuke moved to punch at Lee’s face.

Lee, however, easily dodged that punch and instead, at a speed that surprised everyone present, moved to punch Sasuke in the stomach before retreating again.

Sasuke winced in pain and Naru felt uncomfortable watching this. But she knew that Sasuke wanted to see how he fared against Lee, so she decided not to interfere.

Sasuke, again, moved in to kick at Lee, but Lee was simply too fast for him to actually hit him.

“I need to train harder … but just what is this guy’s secret? How can he be this fast …” Sasuke wondered.

At some point, Lee finally stopped only responding to Sasuke’s attacks and he moved to kick at Sasuke’s face.

Sasuke noticed this with his Sharingan, but he was unable to dodge it, as it was simply too fast.

Sasuke instead tried to block it, but … his block was entirely ignored by Lee, who seemed to be able to move around the block to kick at Sasuke’s face.

Lee’s hit connected and Sasuke flew all the way towards his teammates.

Just as Naru was about to move towards him, Sasuke held out a hand, causing her to stop.

“I’m fine. Don’t worry.” He looked at her with a smile.

He looked back towards Lee and his expression hardened.

“I cannot see through his movements with the Sharingan. Though, that’s not exactly right. I can see them, but I’m just not fast enough to stop them.” Sasuke thought.

Lee nodded, having guessed what Sasuke was thinking about: “Yes. That’s right. Your Sharingan can see my movements, but your body is simply unable to respond to them, as I am much, much faster than you. Do you understand the difference in our abilities?”

Sasuke nodded, deactivating his Sharingan and slowly getting up from the ground: “I understand. There is a gap between us, and no amount of Sharingan usage will help me surpass that. Can you tell me what you train in? How did you get this fast?”

Lee nodded: “It’s good that you understand. Did you know? There is a difference between people that have talent and those who just work super hard to get to the place they want to get to. I’m one of the people that work super hard. My training consists of hard physical-training focusing on breaking the body’s limits by using weights. This is a training especially created by my sensei, Gai.”

At this point, Naruto and Sasuke slapped their heads: “Weights … of course.(2x)”

They sighed, never having even thought about using weights to break their young body’s limits.

“Thank you for the advice, Lee-san.” Naruto said.

“Don’t worry!” Lee smiled, clearly being happy that some people understood his and his sensei’s path to strength!

“Can we … join your training?” Sasuke asked, slightly unsure of his question. He knew that Lee was kind of hostile towards him … but, he wanted to get stronger, he needed new training methods … and since Kakashi-sensei did not give him any, then he would need to look for some in a different way!

(A/N: Kakashi vowed to train them … but alas, it seems like it’s not enough for them :c)

Lee thought for a while, but before he could say anything, another green figure, albeit older than Lee, appeared in the place between Team 7 and him.

Next to the green-clothed man, was a rather big, red turtle. Around its neck hung a Konoha hitai-ate.

“A summon?” Naru said.

Sasuke nodded as he walked towards her and held her hand.

Instantly, a rush of chakra entered his body, healing his injuries.

“Thanks~.” He said.

Naru only nodded as she smiled at him.

“Guy-sensei!” Lee shouted.

“Mhm, this is the spirit of youth!” Guy-sensei screamed while raising his arms into the air.

“Another one of his kind …” Sakura sighed. She really wondered how Lee even fell for her. They didn’t even know each other at all …

“You two of Team 7 want to join my training?” Guy looked at Sasuke and Naruto sternly.

Their expression turned determined: “YES!”(2x)

“If his student is this much faster than me, then I need to know how he trains! He must have a way to break through the limits of my current body!” Sasuke thought.

Meanwhile, this was running through Naruto’s head: “I’ve been stuck in my body training for years … and I never even thought about using weights. Maybe I’m actually stupid? No, I certainly am stupid. Hopefully he can help me …”

Guy looked at them coldly for a few more seconds before suddenly laughing loudly: “Hahaha! That’s great! Though … you are my rival’s students, so I cannot take you in as direct students. I will, however, provide you with a training regimen specified for your body types! Hahaha!”

Naruto and Sasuke were curious about his status as a rival of Kakashi, but they bowed their heads anyway: “Thank you, Guy-sensei!”

Guy just laughed before looking back at Lee: “After the Chunin-Exams you will be punished for this unneeded fight, do you understand!?”

“Yes, sensei!” Lee shouted.

After that, they hugged each other and left Team 7 alone.

“Is no one ever going to ask about that turtle …” Naruto sighed, as he watched it follow behind the weird sensei and student pair.

…

On the way towards Room 301, Naruto asked: “You all saw his bandages, right? He must be training so hard everyday that his hands sustain injuries at all times …”

Sasuke nodded: “Yea, I noticed that too. We’ll have to train even harder …”

A while later, in front of Room 301, the team found Kakashi-sensei waiting for them.

“Sensei?” Sakura said, looking at him with a questioning gaze.

“I’m glad you all decided to join. If only one of you had decided not to participate, then I would have asked you to try again next year. Also, usually there are only teams of 3 that participate in this, but this time our Team was especially given permission to participate with four people, but only because we are a rookie team.” Kakashi said, looking at them with a smile.

Team 7’s Genin smiled at each other in joy.

“Alright, go register now.” Kakashi said.

After successfully registering for the Chunin-Exams, Team 7 went to eat dinner together.

Of course, this dinner included Ichiraku ramen~.

…

[Later in their combined apartment]

Sasuke was currently sitting on their apartment’s couch that they had placed in the living room.

Naru was sitting in between his legs, her back resting on his chest.

“Things really will get exciting this year, won’t they, little fox?” Sasuke asked, playing with a strand of Naru’s hair that fell loosely on her chest.

“Mhm~.” Naru nodded softly, while keeping her eyes closed in content.

“Tired?” He asked.

Naru shook her head, wanting to rest against his body a bit longer. She was feeling especially comfortable right now~.

Sasuke just nodded and started slowly stroking her fox ears that she usually let out at home. Her tail was lying on her stomach, making for a soft cushion for their arms.

Naru leaned into his hand, letting him know that she was feeling good.

He just chuckled and gently continued massaging her ears.

Sometime later, only gentle breathing could be heard. Naru had fallen asleep in Sasuke’s arms.

He gently leaned back into the pillows that the couch had on it, soon closing his eyes and drifting off into a resting and comfortable sleep.
