… … …
Fourteen felt helpless against his host’s melodramatic tantrums. If only he could hug and hold Su Xin, he would have done it earlier to comfort her and refrain her from grumbling at him too much.
[Don’t worry about it too much host. If she finds you ugly now then you can’t do anything about it. You will be uglier in the future. Cheer up! ]
Fourteen’s sense of logic always gave Su Xin the desire to strangle him, if only she could.
With the surprise attack on the emperor, the doctor was pulled over again impatiently. Qu Feiqing only had minor injuries and it was best to deal with it simply, the doctor had remarked. It was nothing to be afraid of, but Su Xin didn’t seem to grasp this, Qu Feiqing thought.
She watched as fat tears continued to drip down the woman’s face, to her neck before disappearing under the neckline of her gown. Qu Feiqing’s eyebrows were crossed—Su Xin was crying non stop but her countenance was anything but in grief. How odd.
“Still crying? This emperor has already said that she’s alright.”
Qu Feiqing’s mind was trapped in unrelenting fascination about the woman she brought with her. There was nothing particularly spectacular about her, but she continually muddled Qu Feiqing’s judgement. Earlier, she labeled her as a steel for not crying amidst the pain. But now, she was reduced to a crying mess all for the petty reason of a mild injury inflicted to someone she just met. Truth to say, Su Xin was a web of paradox the emperor was helplessly caught into. Utterly unpredictable, that girl was.
Meanwhile, Su Xin wanted to scratch her eyes out and end this infuriating dilemma for good.
She felt like those miserable, crying big dogs in cartoons.
“I-I can’t help it.” Su Xin wiped her tears, which were futile because her eyes were like a faucet of running water at the moment. She placed a little pressure under the bags of her eyes but it still proved to be pointless. It just won’t stop.
Master Fourteen, what the hell is going on here? Why can’t I stop crying by my will?
[Ah…This humble system hasn’t informed the host yet?] Fourteen tried to sound innocent, masking his guilt.
What?
[Oh… I guess I haven’t said it yet. Well anyway, at the very least, the host is now aware.]
Why you! How do I stop?!
[ Just cry enough tears. The ability varies from person to person so I can’t really tell when it will exactly stop.. ] Fourteen’s voice got quieter by the end when he felt his host’s anger gradually increasing.
You lying scum [1]! Did you just deceive me again?
No wonder the system gifted
Being not in control was one of the things she detested the most. She calmed herself and focused on resisting the tears. She knew that she looked like a complete freak to Qu Feiqing right now, thanks to Fourteen and to her stubborn nature of pushing the task to completion at any chance she got.
Qu Feiqing handed her handkerchief to the damsel in distress; she too was bothered by the unending flow of tears on the stoic face of Su Xin.
Su Xin carefully took it, avoiding Qu Feiqing’s gaze and pressed it like a gauze against her puffy, battered eyes. Su Xin could finally breathe a little as the flow of tears was absorbed, keeping it from wetting her dress any further.
“We’ll take a few more days off here. We shall continue on our travel when you can walk.”
Su Xin nodded, silently thankful that Qu Feiqing was willing to lose time just for her recovery.
In reality, Qu Feiqing actually felt pitiful to see Su Xin wrapped in bandages like a cocoon.
Her eyes wandered to her arms wrapped in quilt. Some of the blood was seeping out the surface regardless of the thickness of the quilt. The wounds were still fresh making it prone to infection.
She really was not in the condition to travel.
Having other things to take care of, Qu Feiqing left the room and the ever attentive Shu Juan scurried to take her place.
1. Woc(slang) – Hmmm. There’s a lot of meaning in the internet feel free to browse xD But bottomline, it’s derogatory term for lying people.
