Jin Xianglan swiped her pass to open the door. She turned on the lights and headed in with the security guard. They looked around. There was nothing in the lab apart from the instrument and equipment. They found no suspicious people in here. When Jin Xianglan stepped to the corner, she stopped and threw a look on the wall. She wanted to get closer but decided not to on second thought. She turned around and said to the security guard, “Let’s go.”
When Jin Xianglan and the security guard left the lab, she contacted the security team on her phone while going straight to the left.
Lu Jia’er, who deliberately slowed down, was relieved to see Jin Xianglan and the security guard leaving. When they were far away, Lu Jia’er and the security guard who she had hypnotized went back to the lab at once.
Lu Jia’er swiped the security guard’s pass but it did not work. However, immediately afterward, the door was opened despite that.
Lu Jia’er saw Ian standing in front of her. It was like Ian had just crawled out from a chimney because he was covered in dust. Lu Jia’er knew where Ian was hiding instantly!
This was an emergency. Lu Jia’er urged Ian, “Change into his clothes!”
The moment Ian opened the door and saw Lu Jia’er with the security guard, Ian had understood that she had hypnotized the security guard. So, Ian reached out his hand and knocked out the security guard.
Soon, Ian dressed in the security guard’s clothes. In this entire process, Lu Jia’er had turned her back at Ian.
Ian gazed at her slim figure and walked over.
Lu Jia’er heard his footsteps. She turned around. “Let’s go!”
But Ian stopped her. “Wait!”
Lu Jia’er was puzzled. Ian took her to a corner of the wall, which was even more baffling for her. “What is it?”
Ian let go of her hand. He touched the door and knocked it. Lu Jia’er stepped over at once. “Is there a secret chamber here?”
“There should be. When I was hiding in the vent, I saw another vent a few meters away. However, looking from the outside, the lab does not appear to be this spacious! Besides, when Jin Xianglan was here, she took a pause!” Ian stated as he continued to search for proof.
Lu Jia’er knocked on the wall as well. “If there is a secret chamber, there must be some gears. But we don’t have much time. Let’s go!”
Ian rejected her suggestion. “No, we cannot go. There must be some secrets buried here!”
“Ian!” Lu Jia’er glared at him.
Ian explained to her, “I forged an identity of a Ph.D. working here to sneak into this research center just to seek out an answer!”
“Looking for an answer? What answer?” Lu Jia’er was confused.
“Something I have been extremely curious about!” Ian did not give explicit replies.
Lu Jia’er turned around and looked at him. “Does it have anything to do with me?”
Ian gazed at her. “Jia’er, you are smart indeed.”
If Ian believed that there would be answers here, then it implied that… it had something to do with Jin Xianglan! If so, then the team behind all this would be…
Lu Jia’er found it appalling to dig this deep. However, some ideas had already been established in her mind. “For the time being, we won’t be able to find any mechanisms. I think we should go into the vent and look.”
Ian felt his mind was slipping away a little bit there. He agreed with Lu Jia’er immediately. The two of them crawled in from the vent.
As he had expected, a secret chamber was hiding in the unsigned lab.
Lu Jia’er crawled out from the vent. Ian gave her a hand so she could stand up.
They were in complete darkness, so dark that they couldn’t see their hands in front of them. Fortunately, not far away from them, some red lights were blinking on some equipment. Ian held Lu Jia’er’s hand and walked toward the door along the wall.
A few seconds later, finally, Ian felt a switch. He pushed it gently. The pitch-dark secret chamber became well lighted. The first thing they saw was a row of control consoles for lab equipment.
Ian walked toward the control consoles and stared at the wall in front of him. All of a sudden, he froze on the spot as if he was possessed by something.
