Chapter 1585: Origin of the True Gods

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Upon seeing Second Prince Everton looking so despondent, everyone couldn’t help but share the sentiment, sighing deeply.

The once magnificent Imperial Palace had now become a ruin of broken walls, and compared to material losses, the loss of personnel was far beyond expectations.

When Rein’s injuries had initially healed, he returned to the palace, where a large number of guards had already begun tidying up the corpses.

Rein approached Menia, gazing at the spot where Carlos II had fallen, and said:

"Menia, why is it only the Evil Gods that have been resurrecting? Where are the good gods? For example, the Seasonal Wind and Ocean Goddess?"

In his view, if the resurgence was caused by the energy tide, it shouldn’t only be the Evil Gods coming back to life.

If there had been the participation of good gods in the battle of the Imperial City, perhaps the outcome would have been much better.

"The good gods... have withered long ago. Since ancient times, the Evil Gods have been constantly invading our world. According to ancient records, about twenty-three good gods have completely vanished in the river of time, with some not even having a temple remaining."

"Currently, within the Empire’s territory, the only ones with some faint faith feedback are the Seasonal Wind and Ocean Goddess."

"However, whether it’s because of that sealed object or not, there’s still no sign of the goddess reviving."

"I see," Rein nodded.

He knew that at the deepest part beneath the Koen Cathedral of the Imperial City, a part of the Fiend Demon’s body was sealed.

Rein had thought that neither Evil Gods nor good gods would want to see a Demigod level strongman appear among humans, but now it seemed that wasn’t the case.

...

After the great battle, there were too many matters to be handled in the Imperial City.

Given the current state, it was obvious that Second Prince Everton could not be relied upon, so after an urgent consultation among the Empire’s elders, Menia continued to serve as the regent.

After bidding farewell to Menia, Rein headed towards his residence.

Along the way, the cries of the people were heart-wrenching; for instance, a little girl in a pink dress with twin ponytails clutched a doll, crying in front of a collapsed house.

Beneath the rubble of the house, a young woman’s lifeless body could be seen.

Evidently, she once led a happy life, but now...

Continuing forward, ahead lay a crater-like fragmented area, where a man was clutching a broken leg, wailing, apparently a consequence of the earlier battle’s aftermath.

...

Federation, Zetaya.

Cave camp within Ressero Canyon.

Sword Saint Terrio, Dawn Wizard Hernandez, and several imposing elder wizards sat solemnly around a long table, discussing something seriously.

One among them was notably the director of the Federation Mechanical Research Institute, Haleem, and judging from his aura, he had just stepped into the Dawn Wizard level.

"Haleem, according to your judgment, what exactly is that enormous metal dinosaur on the negative second floor?" Sword Saint Terrio asked.

"Based on the memory crystal left by Lord Rein last time, plus ancient records, I have ninety percent confidence that it should be the King of Tyrannosaurs from the ancient Goblin mechanical troop’s top echelon," Haleem explained.

"If we speak in terms of the Demon Statue’s level, the ancient Goblins named it ’Legion Commander Level,’ while the wizards more often call it ’Titan-class,’" Haleem explained.

He had just succeeded in stepping into the Dawn Wizard level not long before, only to be called over by Sword Saint Terrio.

The reason was simple; the Federation’s exploration actions had been forcefully paused.

Despite gathering six Dawn Wizards and including Sword Saint Terrio making it seven Epic level powers, they were unable to go deeper into the negative third floor and were, instead, halted at the negative second floor.

The largest obstacle encountered was a super-giant metal dinosaur, which had greatly startled Haleem upon his first encounter with it.

"Titan-class? Isn’t that akin to a Demigod-level existence?" exclaimed an elderly wizard holding a blue crystal ball.

"Exactly. According to ancient records, a complete Goblin mechanical troop from ancient times could stand against strong Demigods," Haleem nodded.

"Doesn’t that mean it’s impossible for us to control the Floating City?" Another elderly wizard in a gray robe frowned deeply.

The Federation could certainly mobilize more Epic level strongmen than the current seven, but the issue was the complex situations within the Federation Territory, making the current seven the near limit they could assemble.

If more were mobilized, situations within many territories would worsen dramatically.

"Well... perhaps we could invite the Empire, particularly Lord Rein to join us?" Haleem suddenly suggested.

"Floating City is top secret, inviting the Empire? Lord Haleem, do you think it’s appropriate?" the elderly wizard holding the blue crystal ball exclaimed incredulously, looking at Haleem.

But soon he noticed both Dawn Wizard Hernandez and Sword Saint Terrio remained silent, rather appearing deep in thought, seriously considering the suggestion.

This left him quite surprised.

"Could it be... is that Empire’s Lord Rein really that formidable?"

"Defeated the avatar of the Nether Sea Goddess single-handedly, killed the Ancient Sea Beast ’Smoldering Eel’, and crushed the main force of the Sea God Sect. Do you think he’s formidable enough?" Haleem snapped.

The other wizard and Haleem were from the same batch of wizards, but due to personality differences, they never really got along, although the other wizard ascended much earlier than Haleem, keeping Haleem at a disadvantage earlier on.
