Reynolds was not the only one who had this question in his head, Alice, Hugh, the Commander, and even the other Gnomes asked the same question.
If Klaus is dead, that was for the best for them.
The Ninth stage Sovereign fighting with Reynolds laughed at the sight of Reynolds’s look of disbelief. He realized that the bond between the duo must have been strong. Seeing Alice’s grief-stricken expression, he laughed even louder. He felt no pity for them, of course he would feel no pity for them, they were enemies, after all. What he wanted now was to take both Reynolds’s and Alice’s life. Hugh was a special case, being able to make use of plants and trees in the same manner as other elemental attacks made him one of a kind and they would like to study him and see how he was able to achieve something like this. In fact, the reason they sent two more Ninth stage Sovereigns here was not because they wanted to fight with the Commander and the others, it was purely so they could capture this odd Human.
The only way they could take this Human away is if they dealt with the others. As long as one of the Ninth stage Sovereigns was free, that Sovereign would take action against Hugh and bring him away. Once they have him, they would immediately retreat. Klaus dying was just a bonus.
Reynolds roared before shooting in the direction of the area covered by the darkness. He wanted to see Klaus with his eyes and take him away from here, he did not believe his friend was dead, there was no way he would accept something like that.
Alice reacted in the same manner, rushing in the same direction.

Since the darkness domain was still active, it meant that the Gnome had plans for Klaus’s body, and this was the perfect time for him to get the best out of it. This is the reason the Puppets of the Gnomes and Necromancers are never able to retain their peak strength, the time difference between the death of the individual and when they were turned into a Puppet.
In a situation like this where the Gnome was planning to immediately refine Klaus into his Puppet, he would be able to use him at his full strength.
Reynolds and the Ninth stage Sovereign were soon caught in a fierce battle. This time, he was attacking without regard for his life which gave him the upper hand. Unfortunately, the Gnome was no pushover and even though he had the advantage, there was no way he could get away from the Gnome.
The Ninth stage Sovereign having the superior cultivation made it possible for him to survive Reynolds’s onslaught unscathed, the same could not be said for Alice’s opponent. He was in the same cultivation stage with her, and his Puppet had been destroyed by her. Facing her fearsome attacks, he was quickly covered in injuries.
‘What is taking him so long?!’ The Gnome felt like crying.
All he wanted to do was get away from this madwoman, unfortunately, he had to stop her from getting to the Ninth stage Sovereign Gnome. In the presence of so many of his superiors, there was no way for him to go against them. If he allowed Alice to pass through, he would be severely punished, this is something he was aware of.
Looking at the crazed eyes of Alice, he started praying he does not end up dead just like her companion.
Hugh had stopped fighting with his opponent at the moment, unable to take any action, only looking at the region covered in darkness with a blank expression. He could not process what just happened.
The Fifth stage Sovereign Gnome struggled for air the second Hugh stopped his attacks. He did not even have the thought of attacking now that he was distracted, all he wanted right now was to catch his breath. The battle between the two has mostly been one side suppressing the other. Hugh’s face became exceptionally calm, showing little to no expression, taking a step, he rushed in Klaus’s direction.
When the Fifth stage Sovereign Gnome saw this, he felt like crying. They just stopped fighting, yet now he had to stop him from getting close to that region.
As Reynolds, Alice, Hugh, and even the Commander did their best to rush in the direction of the region covered by the darkness, the Gnomes they were fighting against blocked their paths. The Commander had to admit, the moment the Gnomes put all their focus on just stopping them from advancing, they showed no signs of retreating. It was as if they would rather die than let them pass through.
While both parties were engaged in a fierce battle, things in the darkness domain were as the Gnomes predicted.
After Klaus’s aura disappeared, the Gnome immediately tried to start refining him into a Puppet. He knew his companions were there to help him, so he had no reason to worry. He felt a sense of satisfaction knowing that he did not only kill this annoying Human, but he was also going to turn him into his Puppet in the end, this was not even something he thought of in the start.
