Chapter 2006: A Father’s Worry

Grey knew once Klaus was free from whatever he was doing, he was certain to check his communication device since it gave off a buzzing sound whenever a message was transmitted over.

Leaving the Hall, he led the Principal to his residence. When they returned to Red City, due to the large number of people coming over to have discussions with his Father, it was no longer appropriate for them to use the small place they used to stay. The Mayor of Red City had a rather large building, and since he was not even a Venerable, he quickly offered up the place to these top experts. He could also sense that the Azure Continent was in a state of turbulence and these people were the only ones who could help them survive. There was nothing wrong with offering up his Mansion to them for the time being.

At first Lucas was reluctant to move in, but after giving it a thought, he decided it was for the best. Grey was assigned a residence in the Mayor’s manor, somewhere in the right wing of the building. This was also the area his friends were staying.

When Grey arrived, he sensed a familiar aura rapidly approaching, turning his head to look, he saw the Dragon, Eisendrache running in his direction, along with a young girl who looked to be around fifteen years old.

“Big brother Grey.” The young girl jumped into Grey’s arms.

Grey softly caressed her hair, before turning to look at the elegant young lady who was walking over by the side. The young lady was none other than Klaus’s wife. When the group were traveling the last time, they did not take her along due to her weak cultivation. It was evident that even during this exploration, Klaus also chose to leave her behind. He knew Klaus would never agree to put her in any danger.

At the thought of this, he suddenly turned to the Principal. The others did not follow him, but he took the Principal with him. Seeing that Klaus’s wife was here, he decided to introduce the duo to each other.

During their time in the Gnome World, the Principal had asked to confirm if Klaus had truly gotten married. According to the Principal, he was informed by Chris and thought the latter was pulling his legs. It was after confirming from Grey did he finally realize that Chris was not tricking him and Klaus had indeed gotten married.

After introducing the duo to each other, Grey left with Eisendrache and the young girl, leaving the duo to have time to bond. On the way, he asked the young girl concerning the condition of his mother and found out she was still in the same situation as before he left.

‘Does it take so long just to break through to the Half God Plane?’ He felt a little skeptical.

During all his attempts to break through, other than the delay he had from the time he was stuck at the Peak of the Origin Plane, he had not faced much obstacles since then. Even when he takes time, it is still only a few weeks at best. His mother has been in this state for some months now, and he could not help but he worried. It was only after Cory told him that their Father had confirmed that their Mother was in no danger did he calm down. The young girl with Eisendrache was obviously Cory, the little girl he brought back with him all those years ago. She was accepted by the Dawson couple as their adopted daughter and has been living with them all this while. Given the time she has spent with both parents, it could be said that she has even spent more time with them together than the time Grey has spent with them. Although Grey spent a lot of time with his Mother, staying with her until he was fifteen, he had barely spent a few years with his Father.

Cory bugged him about where he disappeared to all his while, after giving her a vague response, he vanished, leaving the exasperated young girl alone with Eisendrache. Pouting, Cory stomped her foot on the ground and swore to get their Mother to punish Grey once she came out of her retreat.

Grey could not be bothered with Cory as he sat and thought of his next plans. After finding out about the intention of the Gnomes, he became even more apprehensive about this war. He had initially thought that the Gnomes were only coming to snatch some treasures. If that was the case, there might be a way for the Human Race to survive this calamity. Unfortunately, the Gnomes were not only seeking to take the treasures of the Human World, they were seeking the entire Human World as a whole. If what he found out was accurate, then after the Gnome World devours the Human World, it would only be a matter of time before the Humans begin undergoing the changes written in the history books he read in the secret chamber under the Gnomes’ Royal Capital City.

He waited for about two hours before he received a call from his Father. Rushing over, he realized all the top experts were gone.

“You were impulsive.”

As soon as Grey stepped into the Hall, he was hit by a wave of pressure that almost made him fall to the ground. Forcefully stabilizing himself, he raised his head to look at his Father, “If I didn’t go the Principal would have lost his life.”

“What about your life, did you think of what would become of your Mother and I if anything had happened to you?” Lucas’s tone was cold, it was evident that he was truly enraged by Grey’s recklessness. Although he was astounded by the fact that he not only successfully snuck in, but he also managed to bring out the person he went in search of, he could not help but shiver at the thought of what would have happened had he been found out. Given how much hatred the Gnome Race have towards Grey, it is certain they would not spare him. If Grey died, then their lofty dream would be dead.

He still vividly recalled what happened when Grey broke through to the Sovereign Plane. Since that day, he concluded that although he would not restrain Grey too much, he would ensure that he did not put himself in too much danger. When Grey was offered to enter the secret realm of the Dragons in the Inner Court, he had an extensive conversation with Lord Astarot and only after confirming that although there were dangers, it is not something that Grey could not avoid.

The secret realm was the secret realm, while the Gnome World was on the same level as their World, if not even better. How could he allow Grey to go there in such a reckless manner?

This was the first time Grey was getting reprimanded by his Father, and although he wanted to defend himself, he shrank back. In truth, his Father was right, rushing to the Gnome World was him acting impulsively. He felt he would regret it if he did not go, hence the reason he snuck there. And even though he succeeded in the end, he was also in a dangerous situation when he was about to leave. If not for the fact that his luck was not bad, then he might really have been trapped there.

Lucas did not continue reprimanding Grey after seeing his meek expression, “Tell me what happened during your stay.”

Hearing this, Grey went on to recount his experience in the Gnome World. This time, although his stay was short, the information he gathered was massive. When Lucas heard about the real plan of the Gnomes, he sucked in a cold breath. He could not believe that this was the intention of the Gnomes.

“Their appetite sure isn’t small.” Lucas sneered. Even though he heard that the Gnomes have succeeded in devouring other Worlds, so what?

The Human World has repelled them before, and they can do it again.

“You said the Emperor mentioned that someone from the Human World is touching on the boundaries of the God Plane?” Lucas suddenly asked. When Grey was telling him about the Gnomes wanting to devour the Human World, he did not forget to mention what the Emperor said about someone touching the boundaries of the God Plane.

Grey nodded.

Seeing Grey nod, Lucas wore a solemn expression, “You may leave first.”

He had wanted to speak with Grey more, but he needed time to digest the information he just received. Finding out that the Gnomed wanted to devour the Human World was shocking as it is, hearing that a Human had touched the boundaries of the God Plane, he could not help but feel a little sense of anticipation as well as crisis.
