Chapter 2007 2007: Klaus's Regret

Grey returned to his room and after fiddling with his communication device for a while, he finally felt it buzz. A smile appeared on his face as he knew that it was definitely a reply from Klaus. Sending his mental energy into the communication device, he could sense the nervousness in Klaus's reply.

Klaus's reply was simple; who?

Knowing that Klaus wanted to confirm if it was the truth, he smiled and told him that he found the Principal and was back in Red City with him.

At the same time somewhere close to the Magical Beast's Forest.

Klaus, Reynolds, Alice, and even Hugh were gathered together. Klaus was currently holding onto something like it was a precious egg, waiting patiently for it to buzz. It was the communication device, and after they finished their battle, he had taken it out to realize he had a message. The content of the message made him freeze at the time. When the others saw his dazed state, they questioned him, but he could not give them a reply, only passing the communication device to Alice and Reynolds.

When the duo realized it was a message from Grey, they heaved a sigh of relief knowing that he returned successfully. However, the message also left them in a dazed state. It was only after some minutes did they finally calm down.

Klaus carefully took the communication device back and questioned who Grey said he found, leaving the current position he was in at the moment. He did not expect a reply from Grey immediately, after all, given his experience with Grey, he knew the latter barely kept his communication device close to him. Nevertheless, he looked at the communication device with an expectant gaze.

He was still trying to calm his heart when he saw the communication device buzz once again. His Mental Sense rushed into the communication device as he studied the content of the message. The second he heard Grey's reply, his face was immediately flushed red from excitement. How could he not be happy?

Grey left with little to no information on the whereabouts of the Principal. He had even found Brown, yet the Principal was missing. To be honest, Klaus did not expect Grey to come back with any good news. He was even praying nothing bad would happen to Grey from his reckless act, never did he expect that Grey would be able to find his Father, and in such a short time as well!

They had all been to the Gnome World, and even though they moved around a lot, they knew they did not explore up to a tenth of the place. This alone proved how vast the Gnome World was. If the Principal was not in the same location as Brown, then the chances of finding him were almost zero. Yet, he received a message from Grey confirming that he had indeed found and even brought back the Principal. If not for his years of friendship with Grey, he would have thought the latter was tricking him. However, he knew Grey was not one to play with their emotions, especially in such a matter.

The fact that Grey even snuck to the Gnome World alone proved how much value he played in their friendship. The only reason Grey did something like this was purely from the state he saw Klaus in. If this were not the case, why would he risk his life to sneak into the Gnome World?

Klaus's head was a mess, but his excitement did not reduce.

Seeing his expression, Alice and Reynolds knew that Grey had indeed found Klaus's Father. However, they had no idea that he had even brought him as well. When they asked about the situation from Klaus, they heard that he was able to successfully bring the Principal away. This made all of them heave a sigh of relief, knowing that at least Klaus would no longer be in his somewhat despondent mood. Even though Klaus has been trying to hide it over the past few days, it still did not escape them. They had spent a lot of time with Klaus to know what his character was like. His Father's disappearance affected him a lot, even his attitude and manner of battle changed.

They congratulated him, and Hugh who was not aware of what was happening also did as well. Although he did not know what caused Klaus and the others to be this excited, he could guess that it must be something good given how they reacted.

After a while though, Klaus could not help but grunt coldly.

"Those bastards! If we were not held up by them we would've been back for their return."

Hearing Klaus curse at the Gnomes, Alice and Reynolds looked at him weirdly.

Alice remarked, "If we had not attacked with the Commander at the time, the state of their battle would have remained the same and they would not have requested for reinforcement."

Hearing Alice's explanation, Klaus knew that she was right, however, he still felt annoyed. If he had known, he would not have accepted the idea of fighting these Gnomes. It was just that at the time, he wanted to vent as he had not been able to for a while, so when the opportunity presented itself, he did not think twice. Now, he realized that the reason for his urge to vent was no longer valid. His father has not only been found, he had even been brought back to the Human World and was no longer in danger. What is the point of him staying here any longer?

Sadly, there was no way for them to leave now. Since the Gnomes have gotten reinforcements, if they dared to leave this place, it was no different from sentencing the Commander to death.

"Dammit!" Klaus was greatly aggrieved, looking at Alice and Reynolds, he asked, "Do you think we can come to an agreement with them and leave?"

Before they could reply he added, "We can do something like what the Half God Plane experts did as well. This is not a significant battlefield, and those guys seem to fear for their lives greatly."

Alice gave a wry smile, "There is no way that can happen. Unless you want us to forgo the lives of everyone here."

At the moment, due to the repeated battles between both armies, the Human Race warriors had lost at least thirty-five percent of their people here. When Klaus and the others arrived, they brought around two hundred people or so, adding the hundred or so people that were still alive at the time of their arrival, their army was barely around three hundred and twenty. The Gnomes on the other hand, had more than twice this number, and if not for Hugh's help during the battles, the casualties on their side would have been tremendous.

They had already started the battle, now Klaus was suggesting they retreat. Unless they were willing to give up this area, that was simply impossible to achieve.

Klaus also knew what Alice said was the truth, and he could not help but grit his teeth in annoyance. A dangerous light flashed across his eyes as he asked, "What if we wipe them out?"

"Unless we have a Half God Plane expert on our side, it is impossible for us to wipe them out." Reynolds shook his head. They have been battling with these Gnomes for some time now, and other than the Commander who could fully suppress his opponent, the rest could still fight back.

When Klaus broke through to the Eighth stage of the Sovereign Plane a while back, he had been able to forcibly overwhelm the silver robbed Gnome. However, after both parties parted ways, their next encounter proved otherwise. The silver robbed Gnome was able to handle Klaus, keeping him at bay, whereas Alice's opponent who was a Seventh stage Sovereign had been replaced by an Eighth stage Sovereign. Apparently, the Gnomes did not dare to send over too many Ninth stage Sovereigns. Even the injured Ninth stage Sovereign was also replaced. Only Hugh's opponent remained the same, which frustrated the Fifth stage Sovereign Gnome to no end. He thought he would also be replaced, but reality was cruel.

"Since they can replace their experts, why don't we do the same. At least they were the first to do it." Reynolds thought out loud.

When Klaus heard this, he thought about it and found it quite feasible. They could not bring any top experts here, but that does not mean that they could not bring over an Eighth or Seventh stage Sovereign to replace Hugh.

"Hehehe, let's see if Grey is willing to accompany us." A smile appeared on Klaus's face.

When Reynolds and Alice saw his expression, they could not help but shake their heads, it has only been a few minutes since he received the news of his father's return, yet he had reverted back to his previous state.
