Chapter 2084: Just One Man

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Red City.

Red city’s teleportation array was located at a secure location close to the Mayor’s manor.

It was being guarded by two Sixth stage Sovereigns. With the sun hanging high in the sky, the array suddenly lit up with a flash of white light. When it died down, a few people stepped out of the array. This continued a few more times before the last group stepped out of light.

Grey was among the last set of people to use the teleportation array. When he appeared, the two Sixth stage Sovereigns guarding the teleportation array hurriedly bowed in greeting.

Grey waved them before telling Lady Selena and her squad to accompany him to the main hall to meet up with his father.

When they arrived, Lucas was discussing with a few people. He dismissed them and invited Grey and the squad in.

Seeing Grey’s complexion, Lucas commented, “It seemed like you ran into some trouble.”

“An emissary came, but he’s dead.” Grey replied.

“Oh an emissary. Looks like we made a mistake with our information.” Lucas, although visibly calm, felt a little worried when he thought about the potential danger Grey must have faced. He knew the Gnomes had emissaries, and each one were top experts at the Peak of the Sovereign Plane.

‘It has only been a few months since he broke through to the Ninth stage, how did he defeat a Peak Sovereign alone?’ Lucas was dumbfounded at the thought of this.

He had always known that Grey could fight across cultivation stages, and he had even shown it countless times during the course of the war. However, the Peak of the Sovereign Plane was a massive gulf that should be impossible to bridge from the Ninth stage, or at least when an Elementalist just broke through to the Ninth stage. Yet for some reason, Grey succeeded in defeating a Peak Sovereign while still being a Ninth stage Sovereign, he did not just defeat the latter, but even killed him which was even harder.

When Lady Selena heard Grey mention the presence of an emissary, she felt a cold chill run down her spine. She did not even get the chance to properly reel in her emotions before she was met with Grey saying he killed the emissary.

‘He killed a Peak Sovereign alone?’ Lady Selena could not wrap her head around the question. How was something like that possible?

Kirk and a few higher members of the squad who accompanied Grey into the hall sucked in a cold breath when they heard the ongoing conversation.

“It’s not that the information was wrong, it was just that he was summoned there due to some unforeseen events.” Grey did not delve too deep into his explanation.

Lucas understood there were a few things Grey did not feel comfortable saying with Lady Selena and some of her squad present, so he nodded and said, “You should go and heal up. There’s another place where your assistance is required, so the sooner you can get to your peak the better.”

Grey bowed and turned to leave the hall. He did not spare a glance to anyone from the scout squad and simply left.

“Since he’s gone, I want you guys to give me a complete report on what you saw when coming back.” Lucas spoke after Grey left the hall.

Lady Selena nodded and quickly reported everything they found out there from when they set out until their return.

“You’re sure they numbered more than six hundred altogether?” Lucas asked after listening to Lady Selena’s report.

“Yes, your lord.” Lady Selena nodded with certainty before asking with a low voice, “Did young Lord Grey really come by himself?”

When she asked this question, the entire hall fell silent as all eyes fell on Lucas. She was not the only one who was curious to know this, Kirk and the others who followed her to the hall also wanted to know this.

“He did go on his own.” Lucas confirmed to them. He could see the disbelief in the eyes of Lady Selena and her squad, and he could not blame them. If he had not seen Grey in action, he would also believe it was impossible for him to take on such a large crowd. But he had seen Grey fight, and he knew that one of Grey’s greatest strengths was his ability to fight against many opponents at a time. In fact, he could even argue that battles like those are what brings out the best of Grey.

Lady Selena and her squad were left bewildered as they thought about how it was possible for one person to achieve what they just heard. They did not want to believe, but they could not say both Grey and his father were lying.

Neither Grey nor Lucas were going to try to prove anything to them either way. Lucas dismissed them after getting everything he needed before sending someone to inform his wife of Grey’s return.

While all these were happening, Grey had returned to his room to heal his wounds. He was still seriously wounded and could not fight for the time being. When he killed the emissary, he passed out from exhaustion and was carried to a cave to heal by Void and the bunny leader. He woke up a day later and spent the following two days recovering. It was only after he was confident he could properly make use of his space element did he rush to the trapped scouts since he knew they would have no knowledge of him wiping out the encirclement. Before getting to the scouts, he did not forget to acquire the treasure since it was ready at that time.

He did not create the teleportation array in that place because he did not want to give the Gnomes any chances of finding it. The Gnomes also had Space Elementalists, and although they would find it extremely difficult to use the teleportation arrays, messing with it was no issue. For this reason, he had to take the teleportation array somewhere far away.
