Chapter 2242: Taking Side

"This is absurd! How can we allow him to leave just like that with a lot of work ahead of us!?" Harmond raised his voice as Tang Shaoyang left the room.

"We can’t let this continue, or else he will keep ignoring his responsibility as the Executive Administrator. We need to submit an appropriate punishment for his behavior!

"What do you expect from him after your stupid antics, Harmond?" Arion was shaking his head, "It’s just a few months, and you have just to do something stupid. You and Loke."

It was Harmond and Loke’s idea to disable Earth’s protection early. The reason was simple. Harmond hated Tang Shaoyang’s guts after their earlier interaction regarding Alderman Fiodor’s execution. Loke also hated Tang Shaoyang for not allowing him to extract Alderman Fiodor’s inventory. This was payback to Tang Shaoyang, but, of course, they prepared more than that. This was just the starter.

"Regardless of the issue, we agree it’s an unfair privilege for his world to be protected. As an Executive Administrator, he should not be shielded and spoiled. In fact, we are helping him—"

Clementine waved her hand and shot a glare at Harmond before finishing his words, "Spare me with your rubbish excuse, Harmond!"

That quickly silenced the other guy. His face turned ugly, but he said nothing otherwise. He was smart enough not to go against Clementine ’openly’. He would curse her behind her back, but that was the limit of his courage in front of the primordial being like Clementine.

"What about Redmond?" Baba tried to shift the topic. He was uncomfortable enough with what happened, so he didn’t want to be here just to listen to Clementine berating the other Executive Administrators.

Harmond was not lying when he said a meeting about the Void Cult. The Void Cult truly made a movement, and it was something big. Big enough to alert them all.

The Corrupted Immortal Emperor, aka Redmond, attacked the most tightly guarded prison of the Ancient Kingdom, the Scorching Fortress.

They named it a fortress because no one would be able to break in, let alone break out. Once you are inside the prison, they could never go out. It was the place where the Ancient Kingdom placed their prisoners, whether it was a prisoner from World of War, or just a war in the God Realm.

They didn’t put criminals there, not that there were no criminals. It was more like the criminal was few while most of them were war prisoners that they regarded as trophies. No one knew why they wanted such a place; it didn’t make sense.

There was a rumor that they put the high-level God Rank to level up the Royal Family’s descendants. That made sense because killing a God Rank would give a tremendous level. Killing one or two God Rank might be enough for Epic Rank to reach Ancient. It could be considered a shortcut, but that was just a rumor because no one could confirm it.

Scorched Fortress was located in one of the worlds under the Ancient Kingdom’s banner. Only a few select individuals knew the exact location of the world, so it was a surprise that Redmond could find out. Or maybe not a surprise because the Void Cult might be the only force after the Administrator who could find such a remote and secret location.

Redmond attacked that world, opening a temporary void gate to summon Void Creatures. While the Void Creatures ravaged the world, Redmond breached the Scorched Fortress.

He killed all guards and people in charge, sparing no one but the prisoners. He freed all prisoners, but took a few dozen prisoners with him. That was how the Ancient Kingdom found out who attacked their prison. They caught the prisoners that were left behind and interrogated them. Then they reported their findings to the Administrator, but they kept the information from leaking. That was why the God Realm was not aware of what happened.

Arion managed to fish out the information from Tang Shaoyang on why Redmond was looking for Alderman Fiodor. The moment they received the report from the Ancient Kingdom. They quickly connected the dots and easily found out why Redmond attacked the Ancient Kingdom’s prison. The Ancient Kingdom’s prisoners would become the King’s replacement, whom Tang Shaoyang killed. They were to fill the gap in the Void Cult’s rank.

There was no better choice than prisoners who held a deep grudge. The Ancient Kingdom was wary that they would be the Void Cult’s next target, and that was why they reported the incident to the Administrator.

The Ancient Kingdom wanted the Administrator’s cooperation to avoid loss. They were not afraid of the Void Cult, but they wanted to avoid losing a few worlds because of the Void Cult’s attack. That was what they were supposed to talk about in this meeting.

"There’s nothing to talk about, Redmond. Unless you have a way to track him down in the Void Realm, Baba?"

That quickly shut Baba. The reason they could not eradicate the Void Cult was that they kept running away from them. They could open the portal to the Void Realm anytime.

The Administrator had this project to map out the Void Realm a long, long-long time ago. A project that had been scrapped after all the people they sent never returned, including two Executive Administrators.

The braves who tried to make a name for themselves tried to explore the Void Realm. That was also a desperation to join the Administrator, but the same. No one ever returned once they entered the Void Realm except for the people of the Void Cult.

There were two theories for this. One, they lost in the Void, the most likely possibility. Second, the Void Cult killed them. Or maybe it could be both. Once they were lost, they were killed by the Void Cult. So yeah, tracking Redmond into the Void Realm was not a choice, even Andre and Clementine didn’t have the confidence to do so.

So yeah, there was nothing to talk about. They just needed to be ready for the Void Cult’s assault and responded in time. That was the only way to minimize the damage. So yeah, it sucked, but they had to fight the Void Cult on their terms.

"There’s a chance for us to catch Redmond, killing another Emperor, but you fools had to ruin it," Clementine was truly upset, and she showed it as her aura flared out. She was seriously annoyed with her fellow Executive Administrator’s antics this time.

"What do you mean?" Baba asked. If Clementine had a plan, she should share it with them.

"Sitting in your chair for years truly rots your brain, Baba."

That caused Baba to flinch. The words hurt more than he thought they would this time.

"Redmond is clearly interested in Tang Shaoyang. We can use him as bait to catch Redmond. We just need to let it shimmer, let Redmond make another contact with Tang Shaoyang. Make it more natural before we set up a trap using Tang Shaoyang."

Baba blinked his eyes, thinking of what he just heard. It was without a doubt that Redmond was indeed interested in Tang Shaoyang. With the way it went right now, they tried to isolate Tang Shaoyang before he grew too strong. Now he realized how stupid he was. His action just increased the chance of Redmond in recruiting Tang Shaoyang. It would be disastrous for another Redmond to appear.

"I can understand these fools are blinded by jealousy and petty grudges, but not you, Andre!" Clementine turned into the man who had not said a single word the entire time.

"Why are you even entertaining their stupid idea?"

While the issue stemmed from Harmond and Loke, it would not have happened without Andre. This stupid vote would not work without Andre. The protection could be undone because it was her decision to give the protection. It was never a reward from the System itself, so the other Executive Administrators could cancel it with their authority as well.

Andre shrugged, "I do agree about an unfair privilege, and this is a small punishment for him for what he did in the Hurakan Kingdom."

"Don’t play the fool, Andre. You know he earned it in exchange for Palmas to guard the Void Gate. For the fact that he killed an Emperor and several kings, he more than deserves protection for his world."

Clementine waved her hand at Andre, "This is the last nonsense I will tolerate. More than this, I will not stay still!" Then Clementine disappeared from the room.

Arion let out a long sigh, and Andre’s eyes moved toward him. "Do you want to hear my stance as well?"

Andre just stared at him, not saying a word.

"You should be aware of the issue, Andre. We should never take a side in this children’s fight. They should deal with it by themselves. I don’t care as long as they don’t abuse their authority just to get rid of their competition. But this has crossed my line. Tang Shaoyang is an anomaly that might not appear for another hundred or even a thousand years. His growth didn’t reflect his faction’s growth. If his world is destroyed because of your scheme, Redmond’s incident might repeat itself, Andre."

"But I will do my best to prevent that same incident. Since you are taking a side, then I will take a side as well," Arion then scanned the other four Executive Administrators.

"Our deal is off, and I will take back my kids!"

Ebbe Telines and Baba shot up from the chair, "YOU CAN’T!!!" They said it simultaneously.

"Oh, I can, and I will!" Andre disappeared after saying that. At that moment, the four Executive Administrators’ faces turned ugly. They quickly turned toward Andre. They hoped Andre would try to persuade Arion for them, but Andre just shrugged, "You made the plan, and I helped you. That’s the limit of our cooperation." He disappeared afterward, leaving four people with ashen expressions.
