Chapter 2244: Quick and Efficient

That was more like a declaration than a proposal. The way she stated it made no room for negotiation, let alone a change.

"All five participants will be from the Tang Empire, but that can be discussed if the other factions are interested in joining the fight. However, the Tang Empire will claim two spots out of five if the other factions are interested in joining the duel!"

There was a short silence inside the congress. If not, each faction section was blocked with a soundproofing barrier, and the hall would buzz.

"Before we enter into the participant discussion. I need to inform you about our potential enemy and their force..."

She then proceeded to explain the power structure in Bahmes. There was not much information, more like an estimation, but it was accurate that the world had only two factions ruling over it. The information included how those two kingdoms were vassals to a stronger force, but not in detail.

Tang Shaoyang covered the fact that the Elmsano Empire was the Rivernius Dynasty. It was not a cover, more like not telling everyone the entire truth. By the end of it, she stated what they would do after winning against Bahmes.

"We will not take prisoners, but we will take their world and resources. The Tang Empire will claim the Uzaborge Kingdom’s territory, and the Varomaver Kingdom’s territory will be split among you all. This is non-negotiable!"

She emphasized the last word, adding more pressure to it even though she knew it didn’t really add any effect. She was too weak to imbue her aura into her words, after all.

"That’s it for the Tang Empire."

Then she left the platform, heading back to the Tang Empire. She looked confident on the outside, but deep inside, she was nervous and almost cracked. Those stares were quite scary.

She could breathe out a sigh of relief once she was inside the Tang Empire’s seats. His coworkers gave her thumbs-up, all of them, while Li Shuang nodded in approval.

Frans was left speechless, wanting to say something, but no words came out of his mouth. He looked toward the Tang Empire’s booth, then he looked at his leader. He didn’t know how to respond because it was a declaration, not a discussion. Fortunately, the North Federation helped his case this time.

They turned off the soundproofing barrier, "I have a question... No, a lot of questions for the Tang Empire!"

"Let’s start with the Tang Empire’s claim about the Bahmes’ force. We need to confirm the information. Can you provide proof of assurance about the information?"

The one who spoke was not the President of the North Federation. It was a man in his late twenties, wearing a suit, and with ash-brown hair.

"I am sorry, but can you start with your name, affiliation, and maybe a position in your affiliation?" Frans also didn’t recognize the man.

The man might be a newly chosen individual who held a high position in the North Federation. That was his judgment based on the seat, as the man sat right behind the President.

That caused the man to frown because of the different treatment between him and the woman from the Tang Empire, "Why didn’t you ask that woman her name and affiliation before? Are you discriminating against the North Federation?"

Frans almost rolled his eyes, ’How am I going to address you without introducing yourself? This is a proper, international congress, not your backyard gathering.’

Before he could say anything, the Tang Empire turned off its soundproofing barrier and responded, "That’s right. There’s no need for an introduction as long as he states where he comes from. We don’t need to know a nobody’s name."

The ash-brown-haired man bristled at the remark, then he met with the speaker’s gaze, only to meet with Lu An’s indifferent gaze. His heart grew cold for a moment, but he didn’t cower. He recognized Lu An and was aware of the opposite’s terrifying reputation.

’I am also a God Rank!’ he told himself.

He almost crumbled under the pressure, gritting his teeth in anger. He could see that the other factions were laughing at him. The soundproofing barrier might prevent the noise from leaking, but he could see them, smirking and chuckling. He endured it and proceeded with the question.

"My first question. Can you provide the proof for your claim about our enemy’s force?"

Eyes were on the Tang Empire. Not that they didn’t believe the Tang Empire, they wanted to know how the Tang Empire obtained the information.

"No!"

Zhang Mengyao responded with a single word, and a deep silence followed. The current situation was a perfect description of the silence being too loud.

"Why?" The ash-brown-haired man blurted.

"Indeed, why do I have to provide proof of our information? If you don’t believe our information, then so be it. That has nothing to do with the topic. You just need to decide if you or your faction wants to join the duel or not. That’s what we are here for!"

The ash-brown-haired man opened his mouth, but then closed it again. He endured Lu An, and now he had to face the Supreme General. He told himself that he was also a God Rank. He told himself that the North Federation was not far in ranking from the Tang Empire to gain his confidence, but that didn’t help him to get his courage back.

But then a nudge came from his calf, and that was a signal, telling him to continue. He was tasked by the President, and he must carry out the task to the end. He wanted to say something about Zhang Mengyao’s statement, but quickly changed his mind and continued with the second question.

"Why duel? Why only five participants? Isn’t it too risky to stake our world on just a duel with five participants?"

"Because we can’t trust someone weaker when our world is at stake. The Tang Empire is not going to stake our lives, our territory, in you or others’ hands. It must be a duel, and all five participants would be from the Tang Empire. Or we can choose the top five from the Absolute Ranking. That’s honestly the most sensible way to choose who we send for the duel!"

Zhang Mengyao was aware that she was currently sounding like an arrogant prick, but she didn’t care. As Tang Shaoyang said, these people didn’t deserve the respect because they kept taking advantage of their kindness. She would be as blunt as possible with her words. She sounded arrogant and rude, but she was stating the truth.

"I honestly don’t understand why His Majesty is willing to compromise three spots for you..." She clicked her tongue, "Doesn’t matter. Let’s just start the vote!"

The Tang Empire was overbearing, being disrespectful to them. However, everyone was aware that this was the best solution to tackle the current problem. It was to send their strongest people to fight for them. Who was the strongest faction? The Tang Empire. Just the way the Tang Empire did it was quite unacceptable for most of them.

Frans turned toward Herman Bonivido, asking for an opinion. But the latter shook his head, indicating to let it be.

"Then let’s cast the vote for the Tang Empire’s proposal. If we can’t reach an agreement, we can discuss it further for more details."

Frans said out of formality. He knew that more than half of the factions in this hall were the Tang Empire’s vassals. The small and medium factions that were not part of the Tang Empire would also vote for the Tang Empire. They didn’t want to get involved in this big war against another world.

The proposal was the ideal, something they wanted from this discussion. They all wanted the Tang Empire to lead them. The way it led to such a conclusion... was unpleasant. There was nothing they could do about it.

It took less than five minutes for everyone to cast the vote. Discussion was not needed for most factions. Then the result came out, floating above the platform for everyone to see.

Ninety-seven percent agreed with the Tang Empire’s proposal, and just three percent disagreed. It has been decided even before the World Congress. The Tang Empire would lead Earth to fight Bahmes in a duel.

They quickly submitted the terms for War of Worlds to the System, and the duel was set. The Duel for the War of Worlds was set in three days in a Dimensional Space created by the System for the duel, which followed with five names that would participate in the duel.

Those five names were in the top ten of the Absolute Ranking. Zhang Mengyao and Lu An quickly rose back to the top ten after they passed the Trial of God. They often cleared dungeons in the God Rank, though the current Dimensional Tower hardly helped them now.
