___
The fourth mechanism was impossible to break for an average top-notch expert, but it wasn’t for Elliot
He defied common sense.
Each of the monster birthing constructs was surrounded by an energy barrier with a health bar of 100 thousand units.
To break the energy barrier, a person needed to unleash an attack that uses more than a hundred thousand units of energy, and even then, they would only break the barrier but not the construct.
Elliot found that out by using the information gathering skill provided to him by his godly right eye of wisdom. He chuckled and just put his entire worth into play.
He didn’t have a thousand, ten thousand, or hundred thousand units of energy in his body, but more than a million!
The moment he made his attack, everything around him got blown away to nihility. Four golden energy currents swept across the battlefield like tornados of destruction and took everything they came across for a ride across the sky.
Bam!
They clashed on to the energy barrier of the four constructs at the same time.
Bomb!
Immediately, the four energy barriers exploded.
Then, they clashed on to the giant constructs.
Ting, ting!
Tens of thousands of metal shrapnel fell to the ground, a view that signified the end of the four birthing machines.
A portal to the next area opened in front of Elliot. He took it and reached a place with four waves of monsters waiting for him. Yes, he only took twenty-two seconds to complete the first area. It only took him three minutes before he also broke the fourth mechanism. The dark book bowed down to him. Whoever this kid was, it didn’t know, and it didn’t care.
However, as they say, a person’s action speaks for themselves, and Elliot had proved to the dark book with his actions that he was definitely someone great.
The dark book was so impressed with him that it granted him a thousand skill essence, even though he should only be getting 750 of them.
“Still short of a few hundred skill essence. Ah, from where can I get them?” Elliot sighed.
He was close to upgrading his technique yet also a world apart.
“If you keep on using this technique and gain a better understanding of it, you will earn skill essence related to it. Or you can look for another piece of my master’s inheritance and break its mechanism to make this technique’s skill essence.”
These words rang in Elliot’s mind. Now, he wasn’t stupid enough to look around and search for the source of the voice. He already knew that the dark book was the one who was talking to him. He wasn’t surprised. He had seen so many things that a talking book wasn’t enough to surprise him.
“I understand,” Elliot said to it.
“Anyway, just who is your master?” He asked.
“The Ancient King of the spirit race,” It replied. “You probably don’t know as you belong to a low-level civilization, but He is a great man.”
It didn’t mind telling him the truth since he had earned its respect.
‘Isn’t that the senior who committed suicide after getting his arrogance curbed by the Norther Duke? What a weird coincidence.’ Elliot thought to himself. He didn’t say it out loud to face some face for the dark book. No great man would be committing suicide. And the reason why he did so was that he couldn’t accept his loss. Still, Elliot didn’t have an ounce of disrespect for the Ancient Spirit King in his heart.
After all, not only was that man once the leader of the spirit race, but he was also the one who created the perverted Demonic-ranked technique that he felt was so broken that it deserved to get locked in the second floor of this library for all eternity.
“Take this.” Out of nowhere, the dark book pulled out a small piece of leather and gave it to Elliot. “It’s a part of a treasure map. If you can collect all the details, then you’ll find the trial ground of my master and creator, the Ancient Spirit King!”
Elliot’s eyes lit up. He already had gained a piece of this treasure map back in the ancient settlement of the spirit race.
Elliot said his goodbyes to the book, closed the privacy barrier, stepped out of his chair, and went to the bookshelf from where Karim had picked this book up and placed it back there.
“So, did you learn it?”
Before he could get out of the second floor, Karim, still disguised as another person, came up to him to strike up a conversation.
“Guess,” Elliot said with a mysterious smile.
“Yes?”
Elliot didn’t show a reaction.
“No?”
Elliot still didn’t show a reaction.
Since there was no change in his expression, Karim couldn’t tell whether he had learned it or not.
“Oh, come on, don’t keep me waiting in suspense.” He cried out, trying to act cute and baffled.
Now, Elliot knew that he was a Beyond Emperor level expert, so he didn’t fall for his clumsy acting.
“I will tell you only if you agree to my conditions,” Elliot said.
He could tell that the information contained in this book was something out of the ordinary. Only techniques that had the potential to cause massive destruction get categorized as demonic-ranked by the spirit race. He had learned one. If other people knew that, they would come to him and tell him to teach them. They might ask or beg at first, but after he refuses to teach them, who could say that they wouldn’t force him. And if they failed to force him, then there was a high chance that they might blackmail him and threaten to destroy his planet and annihilate his race if he didn’t teach them.
“Just list them,” Karim said.
“You must not tell anyone what I am about to tell you, okay?” Elliot said, his eyes staring straight at Karim.
Karim nodded and said, “I agree.”
“Sign this.” Elliot pulled out a magic contract with many rules on it and gave it to Karim.
Karim refused to sign it.
