Chapter 2937 – Blood Sacrifice

“Godfather! Old Lin!” Tianming’s voice rang out from a transmission stone. “I managed to kill one of the foundationeers! The other three that I shook off didn’t follow me. Instead, they joined up with the others from Intrepidus and are heading your way!” It would be incredibly difficult for gods to catch up to the Ninedragon Imperial Tomb once it picked up speed.

Within the Flameyellow Coffin, a deadly battle was ongoing. Wudi couldn’t afford to divert his attention even for a moment! Both he and Xiaodao were under great pressure. Demoness Yin’s level was one higher than Xiaodao’s, something the Xiao Nu Gourd, Primordial Demonshade, and even the Thousand Foundation Divine Puppet weren’t able to make up for. Even Demoness Yin’s careless mistakes due to her earlier emotional outbursts were inconsequential, thanks to the difference in power.

Wudi noticed that the other three foundationeers were approaching them. The joy that he and Xiaodao had both felt when they’d heard of Tianming’s triumph over Ba Xiao had evaporated in an instant.

“Let’s force her out!” If they were unable to kill Demoness Yin, the only option that remained was shaking her off so she wouldn’t be able to join up with the others from Intrepidus to gang up on them. Wudi shifted the coffin’s pressure and opened the lid, allowing countless flameyellow fiends to enter from outside.

“Hehe, it wasn’t hard to invite me in, but you’ll have quite a hard time getting me to leave,” Demoness Yin said, immediately figuring out their intentions. She went into stealth, vanishing before their eyes. Suddenly, a large number of black and red flashes appeared on the internal walls of the Flameyellow Coffin. No matter how hard the coffin shook, it was locked in its current spatial coordinates. The godshades were truly masters of assassination and sabotage.

Things grew even more troublesome for Wudi and Xiaodao. It was clear that the three foundationeers outside were getting much closer. Their foundation fortresses had enveloped the Flameyellow Coffin and begun applying pressure.

“I told you that you two geezers would be dying today! Seeing your dirty old bodies makes me want to puke,” Demoness Yin mocked.

“Ptooey! Just look in the mirror! You think your fake appearance is getting you anywhere? The real vomit-inducing act is you not acting your age!” Xiaodao spat.

“Looks like your mouth hasn’t given up yet. Fine, you won’t know that you’re dead until it’s too late anyway,” Demoness Yin said.

Xiaodao shot Wudi a glance and made up his mind. Since Demoness Yin insisted on staying there and wouldn’t leave, they would be the ones to leave! Not only that, they would keep her trapped within the coffin! “Just rot in here then!”

The two of them left the coffin and shut the lid tight. The plan wasn’t too dissimilar to their previous one.

“Brother Li, are you able to make the coffin leave?” Xiaodao asked.

“She’s interfering!” Wudi said. If the coffin were able to move, it would be able to travel quite quickly within the Flameyellow Guard Formation. However, Demoness Yin’s interference made it move at a snail’s pace.

“Do we have no choice but to give up on it?!” If they abandoned the coffin, the enemy wouldn’t be able to use it to operate the Flameyellow Guard Formation. However, Wudi wouldn’t be able to change the formation’s mode, either. Not to mention, it was filled with Flameyellow Bloodsoul, and that was a core legacy of the flameyellow divinities. It would probably be really hard to retrieve if it fell into enemy hands.

“We’re running out of time!” Even if they abandoned the coffin now, Demoness Yin’s reinforcements had arrived and had locked on to Wudi and Xiaodao. Many more cosmic cartographers would soon join the three foundationeers as well. Without the coffin, Xiaodao and Wudi wouldn’t have any edge over them in the Flameyellow Guard Formation.

The three foundationeers instantly surrounded the coffin. One of them, an old man in green robes, raged, “One of you killed Ba Xiao! That’s an unforgivable sin that offended the heavens! Your ether-class world has truly courted trouble worthy of death. All the denizens of this world will pay a horrible price for this wrong! Intrepidus will use all of your blood as a sacrifice for Ba Xiao’s death!”

“Do you think that someone like you could just kill Intrepideans like that?”

“Very well! Ba Xiao was the youngest foundationeer we had! If we don’t use your blood as a sacrifice for his journey to the afterlife, our hate will never subside!”

Their complaints were accompanied by mocking laughter, but it didn’t change the fact that they were all furious beyond imagination, as could be seen from their twisted faces. The three foundationeers applied their pressure as they approached, completely sealing off Xiaodao and Wudi’s escape routes.

“Who said that we aren’t allowed to kill you animals from Intrepidus? If we can kill one, we can kill your whole nest! You’re nothing but wicked beasts, not emissaries from heaven!” Wudi’s temper was exploding. With the coffin sealed off and the two of them stuck, he had the divine puppet roar loudly as he charged one of the foundationeers, completely ignoring their order suppression altogether. “Brother! Since Demoness Yin doesn’t want to leave the coffin and we can’t leave, let’s just fight to our deaths! My son is safe now, and the two of us here are old. If we can kill one of them, it’ll have been worth it. Killing two would be a great deal. If we manage to take down all three, we’ll hit the jackpot!”

“Brother Li, you’re right! I’m not going down without a fight!” Xiaodao felt his blood rush to his head. The Xiao Nu Gourd above him rumbled and the Primordial Demonshade began emanating a sinister aura. With his swordbeasts in the sword, he was more than capable of killing foundationeers.

Wudi was a bit weaker in that regard, however. “Since you’re stronger, you should focus on one enemy while I stall the other two! Let’s see who manages to score a kill first!” Wudi said.

“I won’t let you show me up!” Xiaodao almost fainted from the bold choice. He had thought that he would be the one to take on two enemies.

The three foundationeers noticed them speaking as if they weren’t there at all. Meanwhile, Demoness Yin desperately tried leaving the coffin to join her comrades. It heavily rumbled as she made her attempts to break out. Once she was out and the other troops of Intrepidus arrived, Wudi and Xiaodao were sure to die!

The two of them knew that they were racing against time and immediately jumped into action. Wudi went completely berserk in his divine puppet, while Xiaodao charged his target with his reaper sword attacks.

Xiaodao immediately starshifted; he hadn’t done so until now. When his twelve cosmic charts fused together, he was surrounded by astral radiance. His gray reaper sword ki resulted in his galactic body giving off a gray glow. Starlight streaked across his entire body, seemingly making the combination of him and the Primordial Demonshade even tighter than before. The starlight from his body flowed into the sword, making it a part of him.

The six swordbeasts within the Primordial Demonshade also starshifted, their galactic bodies granting the sword the same starlight that emanated from Xiaodao’s body. It was as if the black sword had suddenly found itself within a galactic stream. Xiaodao looked like a cosmic god of the sword!

The Thousand Foundation Divine Puppet, on the other hand, looked incredibly ancient, but still domineering. The pair formed quite the combination, ready to face off against the three starshifting foundationeers before them.
