Volume 6 Chapter 7: Demons’ Common Sense

This chapter is updated by NovelFree.ml

Cain became silent at the words he couldn’t even have imagined she would say.

However, Lisabeth’s two eyes were still looking straight at Cain.

“…This is way too sudden… I can’t give you an answer immediately.”

There was the barrier of them being a demon and human respectively, but Lisabeth was such a beautiful girl that one wouldn’t feel the difference, and Cain hadn’t felt discontent when she had been at his mansion.

And because she had been treated as a slave until not long ago, Cain had tried to treat her nicely to get rid of any possible bad images she might have had of humans.

Darmeshia had also been particularly careful, as he had known she was from the imperial family.

But Cain already had multiple fiancées.

And in regards to romantic feelings, Cain held none at all towards her.

Moreover, the extremely jealous Telestia was one of his fiancées. While he could get permission from Silk without problem, it was obvious he’d get lectured again.

As if she had known that would be the answer, Lisabeth nodded.

“I knew you wouldn’t be able to answer immediately. It’s just, I’ve been away from the country for so long, and we’re going to the Empire tomorrow. So I was a little –– anxious.”

Lisabeth answered feebly, looking down, to which Cain’s hand reached out naturally to stroke her head.

He himself might have been unconscious of it as he stroked Lisabeth’s head.

At first Lisabeth looked confused as Cain stroked her head as if gently combing through her hair, but soon her eyelids drooped as if she felt good.

“I have three fiancées. Also, I came to this country as a noble and representative of my country. It’s not something that’s answered so easily, and I’d also need permission from the king. So… sorry about just now…”

He pulled his hand back from stroking Lisabeth’s head, and, putting his hands on his knees, bowed.

Seeing that, Lisabeth made a slightly sad face and sighed.

“I get it. It’s just me being selfish. However… I do have a request.”

“Yeah, if it’s reasonable, I’ll listen. There are some things I can’t do though…”

At Cain’s answer, Lisabeth’s cheeks turned red and she squirmed as if she suddenly found it difficult to speak, but then she looked up at Cain simultaneously with an ‘Alright!’

“From tomorrow onward, I’ll do my best to become the next empress. So, for today… c-c-could we… s-s-sleep together”

Lisabeth’s face was as red as an apple at having gone and said it, but as she looked up, Cain seemed completely bewildered.

The guest room Cain had been assigned was indeed of the highest class, and the bed was large enough for multiple adults to sleep side by side. If the two of them, who weren’t even grown-ups yet, slept together, it would be no problem.

However, Cain couldn’t decide whether sharing the same bed would be okay or not.

That was because it had been used as an excuse by the king to get him engaged to Telestia and Silk in the past.

Moreover, that was when he was still young. And Cain was now already fourteen years old.

Lisabeth was the same age as him, and she had feminine bumps and was already emitting a feminine charm.

“W-well… I think it’d be a bad idea, we’re around the age…”

Cain stuttered a refusal, but Lisabeth shook her head as if she would not accept that.

“Cain, this is –– not a human country. We’re in a country of demons, which has its own customs. In the demon countries, no matter how much non-adults sleep in the same bed, i-it’s… n-not a problem. So relax. No-one will care.”

When she so clearly stated that, the scales in Cain’s mind tilted a little in favour of giving Lisabeth permission.

“You don’t have to worry. We might sleep in the same bed, but I didn’t say it had to be right next to each other. On both ends of the bed is fine. I just want to sleep in the same room, that’s all.”

“–– If that’s the case… I don’t mind.”

Cain finally fell to Lisabeth’s persuasion.

He was also thinking ‘When in Rome, do as the Romans do’. And then Lisabeth had told him ‘It wasn’t a problem’, so he nodded.

Having gotten permission, there was a huge smile on Lisabeth’s face, which made Cain’s heart involuntarily skip a beat, although he managed to keep his calm and not let it show on his face.

Saying she would go change into her pyjamas, Lisabeth left the room, her steps light.

Watching her retreating figure, Cain sighed, and resignedly got himself ready as well by changing into his pyjamas.

Not long after, there came a knock on the door once again, and Lisabeth, wearing a gown over her pyjamas entered.

“Sorry to have made you wait. Let’s go to sleep now…”

Cain involuntarily gulped at Lisabeth’s red face and upturned eyes.

“U-uhm… That’s right. We’re leaving early tomorrow, so we should sleep…”

They both sat down on either side of the bed, and turned down the illumination in the room via control panels installed by the bed.

They both lied down on the two sides of the bed in the not pitch-black, but dimly-lit room.

However, it was impossible for a boy and girl in their teens to just go to sleep in the same bed without being conscious of each other.

Cain couldn’t go to sleep due to the tension.

“…Hey, Cain. Are you asleep…?”

“No, I haven’t fallen asleep yet. You can’t sleep either?”

“Yeah, so let’s just talk like this a little…”

“Yeah, okay.”

Lisabeth usually spoke quite self-importantly, but the way she spoke in bed was very cute.

While they talked to each other about various things and while they should have been lying on either end of the bed, they moved towards the middle bit by bit.

However, perhaps due to nervousness, they then continued conversing at a distance where their shoulders wouldn’t touch.

However, their conversation didn’t continue for much longer.

Their conversation had lasted late into the night, and it eventually naturally trailed off into silence, and the two of them fell asleep.

The next morning. The door was torn open.

“Cain-sama! Please liste-… n…”

“Ara ara… this is…”

“You can’t just go into his roo-–ah, well, well. As expected of Cain-sama.”

The ones who had entered the room were Seto, his wife Lefane, and as if chasing after them, Darmeshia a little behind.

Hearing the three’s voices, Cain slowly opened his eyes.

He was surprised by the three of them in front of him, but he was even more surprised by Lisabeth sleeping next to him while hugging him.

“…Cain-sama, I’m afraid even I can’t help you out here…”

Said Darmeshia with an indescribable expression, to which Cain shook his head.

“You’re wrong, Darmeshia. We were just sleeping in the same bed and then Lisabeth got stuck to me like this at some point…”

The atmosphere in the room instantly froze as Cain tried to make an excuse.

“–– Cain-sama, are you… saying you were playing around? Say, Seto-sama. Seto-sama, you know that playing around is not allowed too, right?”

Lefane glanced at Seto with a cold expression, seeking his agreement.

Cain broke out in a cold sweat as he remembered her half-killing Darmeshia and beating up Seto previously.

Seto silently nodded many times, and Darmeshia stepped back a step, making no sounds.

Cain gently shook the still-hugging-him Lisabeth’s shoulders to wake her up and get her to explain.

Lisabeth slowly opened her eyes, and, seeing the three in front of them, –– she blushed.

“No, you’re not supposed to blush now. Lisabeth, you explain too.”

Quickly changing clothes, Cain went to the reception room to explain to Lefane, who’s expression was as cold as ice.
