Chapter 1559 Lost Prince

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Adam walked out of the tomb with a smile on his face and laughter in his heart.

Somewhere along the way, his philosophy had changed. No matter what life threw at him, he would laugh.

If he was sad, he laughed. If he was happy, he laughed. In the face of despair, danger, or triumph, laughter was his answer.

It was simply who he was now. He would laugh and keep laughing, no matter what.

He made his way to the far end of the island, then climbed atop the ancient turtle's head.

"Lord Tebu, I'm back!" He said with a smile.

"Little Adam, are you… all right?" Tebu couldn't help but ask.

"Always." Adam beamed.

He looked around and asked, "Where's the little troublemaker?"

"Little Valerian has gone fishing," said the colossal. He paused for a moment, then asked, "What did you find at the inheritance ground?"

Adam laughed. "About that…"

He went on to explain that the inheritance ground was, in truth, a tomb of one of Wagner's old friends. He kept the truth about Wagner being a lich and the fact that his phylactery lay hidden there to himself. For now.

"I see," Tebu replied. Though he knew that Adam was hiding something, he chose not to press further.

After all, the situation was deeply strange. Wagner had buried his friend's corpse on Tebu's shell, hidden it with extreme care, and then even gone so far as to alter Tebu's own memories about it.

"Lord Tebu," Adam began with a faint smile. "Some things carry danger simply by being known. I hope you can trust me when I say I'm keeping you safe by withholding them."

Adam did not know what other spells the mad lich might have cast on the gentle giant. Not for a moment did he think that Wagner did not know Tebu's current location. So he had to be very careful about how he moved forward henceforth.

The ancient turtle thought deeply for several moments. In the end, he nodded his head ever so slightly. "I trust you, Little Adam."

Adam breathed a sigh of relief. He smiled as he said, "Thank you…"

"What are your plans now?" The turtle asked.

The raven-haired youth looked far into the horizon, a deep sigh escaping his lips.

He had already recognized the need to train and hone his skills after his battle with the Winter Lord. And now, after learning that the threat to Tron had still not been resolved, the sense of urgency multiplied severalfold.

"I think I'll head to Mabi," he said softly. "I can train there in peace. And Val will feel more at home, too, with all the beasts roaming that continent. And then…"

He looked westward, a sad smile blooming on his lips.

"I'll return home."

A little more than sixty years remained until the next planetary alignment. Adam believed that was more than enough time to master his craft and push Operation Constantine forward.

Right at that moment, the water suddenly erupted in a violent burst. Waves were thrown aside as something massive surged upward from below.

A giant gray dragon broke through the surface, his immense body rising into the air as sheets of water cascaded from his scales.

Valerian's wings unfurled with a thunderous sweep, sending shockwaves across the waters. As he let out a deep, resonant roar, the ocean below churned wildly.

"Brother!"

Valerian exclaimed in a deep voice as he transformed into a cute cat midair and flew into Adam's embrace.

"Are you okay now?" He asked with concern.

"Of course!" Adam smiled warmly as he wiped the little guy off with his robes.

"Myu!" Valeriean beamed, snuggling in Adam's embrace.

He then glanced at him with wide, innocent eyes and said, "So does that mean you'll take me to the spirit world now?"

Right.

The idea of having enough time before the next planetary alignment suddenly seemed like an illusion. Adam had promised his little brother to take him to the spirit world, to the place where he had first found him.

Seeing Adam remain quiet, Valerian lowered his head and softly said, "You promised me…"

"Little Val, have I ever broken my promise to you?" Adam gently kissed the young dragon's furry head.

"Myu!" Valerian looked up. "So you'll take me?"

"Of course!"

"Brother!" Valerian put his paws around Adam's neck lovingly. "You're the best!"

"But." Adam's expression turned stern. "You must be careful and do exactly what I say, understood?"

"Yes!" Valerian nodded repeatedly.

"Good boy." Adam smiled.

He then turned to the turtle head and requested, "Lord Tebu, would you mind setting course to Mabi? Or just anywhere in that general direction."

The ancient turtle gently said, "It is on the way, Little Adam."

"Thanks!" Adam smiled.

He and Valerian then made their way toward the heart of the Coral Island. There, Adam began preparing a runic formation meant to anchor him to that exact spot in the material world, ensuring he would not lose his way when returning from the spirit world.

***

In the depths of the spirit world lay an unassuming floating island.

At the center of this island stood an ancient, crumbling citadel. It was dark, gloomy, and unsettling. A lush forest surrounded it, filled with towering trees whose leaves were a deep shade of purple.

This was the same island where Adam had first found Valerian, back when he was still an egg.

Within the citadel, the serpent that had once tried to devour Valerian was still alive. A long, long time had passed since Adam had snatched the egg from beneath its gaze and fled the island.

But the serpent had endured. And it had grown much stronger since then.

Unbeknownst to the ruler of this floating island, another being also resided there…

This being in humanoid form rested atop the branch of a tree. He had been waiting patiently for… many years. Time had long since lost its meaning, yet he remained, clinging to the hope of finding a trace of his clan's lost prince.

That was why he had left the serpent alive. It was bait. He hoped the person he was looking for would one day return to this island for answers.

The being had fair skin, silvery-gray hair, topaz eyes, and vertical black pupils that marked him as something far more human.

And he was.

He belonged to a clan that stood among the most powerful and influential to ever exist. He was a being superior, dignified, and majestic, greater than most, if not all, species in the universe.

A Mind Dragon of the Somnia Clan!
