Chapter 1652 Storm King's Rage

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Edward stood straight, lightning crackling across his body even without the active use of any spells.

Meanwhile, Orion stood a hundred meters away from him, his face slightly pale and his eyes flickering with wariness.

He couldn't understand how the blue-eyed youth before him had such fluid command over the lightning element. Even that last attack... the force behind it was so overwhelming that, for a split second, he thought he wouldn't be able to defend against it.

But thankfully, the youth's powers seemed oddly volatile. And so Orion quickly realized that his opponent must have only recently advanced. Or it just didn't make sense for a Mana Core Magus - the arcane peak of this world - to have such amateur control over his spell.

Once he realized that fact, he gradually calmed down. With his mind now stable, his eyes narrowed as he gazed at Edward.

"So you're with the Dark King?" he asked, his tone laced with slight apprehension.

Suddenly, he seemed to have thought of something and realized that the attack on their supply lines and transport infrastructures might not be the full extent of the actions of the Dark King and his army.

His pupils constricted as he thought of a terrifying possibility.

Could it be... he mused.

"The Mourning Mountains Incident," he began. "Was it you?"

Edward's eyes turned bloodshot from rage the moment he heard those accursed words.

The lightning seemed to react to his emotions, their intensity increasing abruptly as more streaks danced across his body. Not just that, even the storm clouds overhead seemed to be strangely reacting to his mood.

Naturally, Orion too noticed these changes. His heart sank at the implications of it all.

To be able to change the weather around him without any spells, he thought to himself as he couldn't help but subconsciously gulp.

It's just like him... the Winter Lord!

"You knew about the atrocities being carried out in that base," Edward spat through gritted teeth, his hands clenching tightly.

"You knew about what those bastards were doing to those kids... do you not have a shred of humanity in you?!!"

Toward the end, his voice rang across the town. As a result, the clouds above also thundered in unison.

The more Orion witnessed this strange phenomenon, the more certain he became of the deep similarities shared by the Winter Lord and the blue-eyed youth standing before him.

He couldn't help but think to himself in fright, his mana already covertly pouring into his defensive artifacts.

I have to be cautious. If not-

His thoughts came to an abrupt halt when suddenly...

Edward appeared right before him.

BOOOM!!

With his fist coated in lightning, he struck with all his might.

The blow landed clean. At the point of impact, light burst outward. Lightning flared in every direction, tearing through the air with a sharp crack.

Orion was violently hurled back into the distance. His body shot across the air, crashing through one building after another. Walls gave way, wood and stone breaking apart like paper as he tore through them.

He didn't stop until he hit the far side of the town. The impact drove him straight into the towering wall, leaving him half-buried in it. His defensive artifact shattered, having just barely served its purpose. Faint arcs of lightning still clung to his body, flickering over him before fading.

Hot blood gushed out of his mouth as his eyes widened in pain. If it hadn't been for him activating the defensive artifact at the nick of time, he would have

brutally died.

Such speed! He screamed inwardly as he slid downward.

Orion had never faced an opponent who was so incredibly quick. Truly... the blue-eyed youth was as quick as lightning!

Before his feet even touched the ground, the hair on the back of his neck stood on end. Intense warning bells began blaring inside his mind. He instinctively knew the next attack was coming, and if he didn't do anything... this time, he would surely die.

While still in a state of pure dread and panic, Orion forcefully tried to calm his mind as he quickly sacrificed a material component and then weaved hand

seals.

He erected a mana barrier before him just in time.

Rank 4 Spell: Lightning Arrow!

A giant arrow of pure lightning tore across the ground. It didn't travel smoothly. More like, it viciously carved a path. The ground split under it, the stones shattered, and anything in its way was torn apart as it moved forward.

Then it struck Orion's mana barrier head-on. The barrier flickered intensely. It held for only a second, maybe two, before it cracked. And when it did... the force drove him straight through the wall behind him, blasting it apart on

impact.

He was hurled beyond the town, carried by the Rank 4 Spell as it kept going. The outer wall, in that specific region, exploded as the lightning tore through it, leaving a wide trail of ruin in its wake.

This was the Storm King's rage!

Orion gasped for air, like a fish out of water. His body trembled in pain. His

flesh burned, every nerve screaming from the lingering lightning still tearing through him. It wasn't simply pain. It was a constant, violent tingling that simply refused to fade.

He forced his eyes open and found that he was no longer in the outpost. He now lay in the woods beyond it, half-sunken into the ground. A long gouge stretched before him, carved on the wet earth from where he had been dragged out by the force of the spell.

Trees lay uprooted along the path. Trunks were split or thrown aside like they weighed nothing. For a brief moment, Orion didn't move. He lay limp on the ground, grinding his teeth as streaks of lightning wreaked havoc on his flesh.

He simply tried to breathe and steadied himself. But soon, the light in the surroundings grew bright and resplendent. And when he forced his eyes open to look, he was shaken to his very core.

Through the air, a figure descended toward him. Lightning coiled around

Edward's body, wrapping his frame like living chains.

To Orion, the Storm King looked less like a man and more like...

A god of lightning!
