Chapter 1686 Quick and Precise

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Vortigan truly hoped that the four-headed monster would be able to deal with the Dark King.

If he were being honest, a very small part of him also thought the Dark King would be able to survive the attacks of the monster, and even be able to

vanquish it, no matter how far-fetched it seemed.

And that was exactly what happened.

The Dark King did come out victorious. Unbelievably so. For a brief moment, it seemed that he'd be the one to lose, to die at the hands of the berserk undead abomination. But in a shocking turn of events, he had, in the end, come out on top.

But regardless, victory came at a great cost. The Dark King was now heavily injured, and this was exactly the opportunity that Vortigan had been looking for.

Throughout the second-half of the battle, he had concealed his presence expertly through the use of an illusion artifact. He watched everything unfold, wide-eyed.

From the Dark King withstanding dozens of attacks from the monster, to shattering the stone pillar, to finally banishing it into the depths of the spirit world. Vortigan admitted that banishing the monster instead of trying to kill it had indeed been the right move.

And now, when he saw the Dark King lower his guard right after defeating the abomination, Voritgan knew the time had come for him to strike.

For Elira.

He prayed silently in his heart as he willed the mana inside him to circulate violently. And then, he struck the Dark King's unguarded back with all his might.

Watching the stone monument fall precariously, Adam weaved hand seals, preparing to deal with it. But only a moment later, he sensed another threat to his life. He was expecting it.

There you are, he thought with narrowed eyes.

He pretended not to notice. Just when Vortigan's attack was right upon him, he abruptly leaned to the side.

Vortigan was still invisible under the effects of the artifact, but that did not matter. Adam could sense the hatred and bloodlust raging from him in tidal

waves.

His eyes gleamed with contempt as he positioned himself to deliver a brutal upper cut. It seemed that he was hitting nothing but empty air, but soon, a sickening crunch echoed through the air, followed by hot blood splattering on the ground before him.

Vortigan cried in anguish. Following that, his invisible body rippled like the surface of an ancient well suddenly disturbed. He could see the sharp bone jutting out on the upper side of his elbow - a result of Adam's attack.

What followed next was quick and precise.

Adam grabbed the bone jutting out of Vortigan's arm, violently yanked it out, and then viciously stabbed it into the base of the man's neck — in the trapezius muscle.

Vortigan's eyes trembled. His screams abruptly died down in his throat as he took a few steps back. He hands subconciously reached toward his shoulder. Blood gushed out of that area as his ulna bone was lodged deep inside the muscles.

The Dark King had moved so fast, and everything had happened so quickly, that it took a moment for his mind to comprehend. He turned to the raven-haired youth in fear and shock. But when he recalled the way Elira had been killed, his eyes turned bloodshot and ferocious.

He willed the mana inside his core to implode. The aura around him turned volatile. It was clear what he was attempting to do. His lips curled into a cold smile, and he whispered, "Fuck you-"

But his words died in his throat when the Dark King, who was standing right in front of him, suddenly disappeared. And then...

Tap!

Vortigan felt a gentle yet firm hand clasp his unharmed shoulder. A warm current of energy flowed from the hand, surged through his mana pathways, and instantly calmed down the raging mana inside of him.

In the next moment, the raging mana settled down calmly within his core.

"Fuck you too," Adam's voice echoed from behind him.

Then he pressed several points on Vortigan's arms and legs. Instantly, the latter felt his limbs become paralyzed. Before long, he collapsed to the ground,

unable to stand or even weave hand seals for a spell.

He didn't feel any fear, however. Instead, his heart was filled with grief and disappointment. He cursed himself for failing to even self-detonate and taking the Dark King with him to the afterlife.

Voritgan turned his body with great difficulty, and his furious gaze locked onto the youth standing behind him.

"I'm not scared of you, you bastard!" He roared in defiance. "You hear me? I'll fuckin' kill you! I'm not scared of you!"

Adam's lips curled into an amused smirk. "Then you will die braver than most."

With that, he walked past him and weaved the hand seals for Flight. Soon, he positioned himself right underneath the falling pillar, just in the nick of time to prevent it from leveling the city below.

His fingers dug into the stone as veins bulged on his arms. He clenched his teeth and flexed his muscles. At the same time, he poured more mana into the

spell.

A manly roar thundered from his lips, and under the stunned gazes of Jomuran's residents as well as the countless prisoners, he held the pillar in midair through sheer strength alone.

Then, with another loud roar that echoed through the city, he slowly flew higher and higher, taking the gargantuan pillar along with him.

To the local citizens of the city, the stone monument had been a part of their lives for generations. It was something that none of them ever thought would ever fall, or even be lifted into the air, for that matter.

Just when these people thought that the pillar would come down on them and destroy part of the city, the raven-haired youth in ragged robes appeared and

held its weight on his shoulders.

Before long, he slowly but surely flew away with the giant pillar on his

shoulders. It was such a strange scene. Adam seemed like an ant before the monument, yet he held it anyway.

As soon as he reached beyond the walls of Jomuran, he exerted strength and, with another deafening roar, dropped the pillar on the ground.

The ground trembled for a few seconds from the impact.

When Adam flew back to the city, to the place he had left Vortigan, he witnessed an amusing scene...
