Chapter 1702 Vornak's Suggestion

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Hearing those words from his trusted subordinate, Govax turned very solemn.

"Are you certain?" He asked in a grim tone.

Vornak remained silent for a moment before saying, "Divination results are not absolute, my lord. But based on what I've seen... it's likely that those serpents are from the Coil. Although I cannot be certain."

Govax inhaled deeply, his expression turning darker by the moment.

"The Coil of Eternity," he murmured, his tone laced with awe and fear.

Of course, he had heard of this mysterious place. The slithery folks from the Coil visited Hell from time to time as did the countless other species in the universe.

The Coil of Eternity was an elusive plane in the spirit world, one that few could find, let alone reach. It did not reveal itself easily. Many summoners spent their entire lives searching for it and failed.

Even among those who managed to make contact, forming a contract was another matter entirely. The serpents of the Coil were selective to a fault. They did not answer weak calls, nor did they bind themselves to insignificant names.

A summoner had to possess power, will, and a fate worth acknowledging. Otherwise, they were simply ignored, deemed unworthy.

Because of this, contracts with the Coil of Eternity were rare. And most would not even be able to tell the difference between a regular summoned serpent and a serpent from the Coil.

There were also rumors about what ruled that mysterious plane...

A being known as the Great Ouroboros, a cosmic serpent, said to encircle eternity itself. Whether it was truth or myth, none could say for certain.

But scholars who studied the deeper currents of the spirit world placed it among the highest existences, on par with mythical figures like Yggdrasil and the Ruler of Nine Hells.

And if the vision truly pointed to the Coil... then whatever was coming was far from ordinary.

"What of the summoner?" Govax asked.

Vornak shook his head. "Nothing."

The devil's eyes narrowed. He recalled another matter and pressed, "And that Magus you divined about the previous time? Anything about him?"

"Nothing, my lord." Vornak shook his head again. "For some reason, his identity cannot be divined. It's as if..."

He thought of the right words to say. Then he continued, "I know there is someone out there in the fog. But when I step closer to look... I find no one. Absolutely nothing."

Vornak turned to his master and added, "The last time I had indirectly divined about him. Or her. I don't even know their gender. The focus of my divination had always been the lich. And what I saw was someone... someone who walks the same path as the lich, being the one to end him."

"If this Magus was able to evade your scrying methods, it is highly likely that he has in his possession a Grade 2 Artifact," Govax murmured in confusion. "But..."

The Diviner finished the words for him. "A world like that should not allow the existence of a Grade 2 Artifact. The ceiling should have been Grade 1, which equates to the Mana Core Rank."

"This fucking planet," Govax muttered as he clenched his jaws. "Fuck!"

He truly had no idea what was going on in Tron.

Vornak waited a few minutes for his master to calm down. Then, he told him about the second half of this vision. "There's more."

"Out with it!" Govax roared.

Vornak replied in a straightforward manner. "I saw your army los-"

He didn't even get to finish his words as Govax had already grabbed the table and chucked it at him.

"Do not fuck with me, you fuck!" he roared. "Defeated? My army defeated?!"

The Diviner had nimbly dodged the flying table, and he now stood on the other side of the room, by the door. He was going to make a quick escape should his master turn more violent. Govax, after all, was an angry and paranoid devil, like most other devils in the Second Layer.

In a fit of rage, the devil ended up destroying half of the chamber. Tables and chairs lay broken, shelves were upturned, and wine and food lay scattered on the floor. Yet Govax's rage hadn't subsided.

"Nearly ten billion souls," he roared. "That's what's at stake here, you fuck!"

"I am aware," Vornak said stoically.

Seeing his calm look, Govax was even more enraged.

"Might I suggest forming an alliance with someone?" said the Diviner, his voice rather meek.

"That would mean sharing the spoils of war." Govax gritted his jagged black teeth in frustration. "No, I cannot allow that. I'm so close to becoming a Transcendent. This world was supposed to be my ticket to gaining more resources. Fuck!"

"Your chances of victory will increase should you form an alliance, my lord," Vornak said quietly. "The divination has already shown what will happen if you don't."

"Didn't you just say divinations aren't absolute?!" Govax roared in fury. "Are you fucking with me!"

"They aren't," Vornak replied. "But it is undeniable that your chances of victory increase if you form an alliance."

"Then I'd have to part with a good chunk of souls!" Govax said in anger. "Not to mention, I have to offer a big portion to the ruler of Ironynth. Then, another sizeable portion will have to be cultivated for the Eternal War on the First

Level. Fuckin' Hell!"

Hearing his words, Vornak couldn't help but sigh helplessly. "At least, this way, you'd still be getting some souls-"

"Fuck off!" Govax glared at him. "Fuck off before I kill you!"

"Yes, my lord." Vornak offered a bow and quickly exited the chamber.

As he walked through the dark corridors, he couldn't help but feel relieved. His master was an angry devil in general, and he got even more angry when things didn't go his way.

Vornak wouldn't be surprised if scores of devils in the building died today just so his master calmed down a little. But at least he was safe, so that was something. Proficient Diviners were valuable assets not just in Hell but

anywhere in the universe.

He stepped out of the building, his gaze scanning his surroundings. From the walls to the cobblestones, everything was made of smoking, dark iron. The sky above was ash-red, and the ground beneath was scalding black.

His eyes found a band of adventurers, consisting of humans, elves, and dwarves. One could always find such naive travellers coming to Hell to make a name for themselves. Vornak followed behind the group, thinking of ways to

scam and enslave them.

As he approached the adventurers, he couldn't help but wonder: Will my suggestion eventually lead to a self-fulfilling prophecy? Oh, whatever. Vornak couldn't be bothered anymore.

The devil finally arrived before the group of foreign Magi and put on his most

friendly and polite smile.

"Greetings, friends! Are you looking for a fun adventure where you can make money, and more importantly, gain fame?"
