Only less than half a day had passed since the battle had begun.Yet the destruction across the city's harbor and the number of casualties were immense. Haynam's side had lost over two hundred ships and twenty thousand men. Comparatively, Amberfall had only lost sixty ships and three thousand men.
After confirming that the southern side would no longer pose any threat to the city, Prince Marlow directed the remaining Magi toward the northern front.
Even without the Dark King's warning, he already knew that the north was highly susceptible to attack. If he were the enemy, he'd do the same. So after instructing a few groups of Magi on the southern wall to keep watch in case anything unexpected happened, he moved to the northern wall.
As he moved through the streets of Amberfall, he noticed they were empty, utterly devoid of any life. All the families, especially the women, children, and elderly, had been moved to underground shelters. As for the able-bodied men, they had all moved to the northern wall.
Marlow turned his head skyward, his eyes squinting. In the twilight sky, beyond the clouds, he could see faint flashes of light and the distant echoes of battle. In another part of the sky, he noticed dark clouds and lightning.
His expression turned utterly grim. Although they had won the naval battle, the city was yet to be deemed safe. There was another Mana Core-cultist hiding somewhere, waiting for the opportunity to strike.
He didn't know how long it would take the Mana Core Magi to finish their respective battles. He could only hope that it was quick, and the battle results were in Amberfall's favor.
Marlow's pace quickened as he prepared for the next battle.

Meanwhile, high in the skies above the city, the battle between the Amberfall and Haynam Magi remained in a deadlock.
As time passed by, it was becoming increasingly clear to the Amberfall Magi that their enemy was trying to stall for time. And this was not good for them.
Although the Haynam Magi had been taken aback by the number of Mana Core Magi Amberfall had produced for this battle, they still had the numbers advantage thanks to their undead knights.
Only Edward and Blackfire seemed to have the upper hand in their respective battles. The three knights fighting Anna and Virion constantly evaded them at all costs, making it difficult for the princess to deal with them.
As for the fight between Bunosilo and his opponent, Diggory, it was a classic textbook example of a fight between two Mana Core Magi. Neither side gained the upper hand.
If things remained the same, their battle would boil down to who had more mana in their reserves.
But things did not remain the same...
Amid dense clouds, Bunosilo and Dorset exchanged several moves. Spells of different kinds of magical elements cut through the air, only to be blocked.
The shockwaves from their attacks blew the clouds away, but more clouds surrounded them from all sides as they constantly shifted their positions.
As the battle progressed, Dorset grew more and more annoyed. His opponent just wouldn't go down. He wouldn't even reveal a weakness. And in the off chance that he did, Dorset knew was a trap meant to lure him into making a mistake.
And in a battle at their level, a single mistake, no matter how small, could lead to one's downfall. So even though Dorset grew frustrated, he remained as cautious as ever.
But suddenly, his eyes narrowed, gleaming with concealed surprise. He immediately increased the intensity of his attacks, his expression growing ferocious. He shed his cautious stance and seemingly chose to go all out.
"I've had enough of you!" he roared, his eyes spewing anger and venom. "Just die already!"
Bunosilo was taken aback. For the past few hours, after having exchanged so many moves, he and his opponent had fallen into a certain cadence of battle. But now it would appear that Dorset's patience had run out.
The next moment, the space before Bunosilo was suddenly filled with all kinds of dangerous, colorful spells. He was forced to focus all his attention on defending against them. Things had suddenly taken an unexpected turn.
The elderly Magus's fingers blurred into seals, and he cast a defensive spell around him. He infused mana into the barrier as the spell struck him in quick succession. For almost a minute, he was bombarded by brilliant and deadly spells.
When the attack died down, Bunoliso cautiously deactivated the barrier. In front of him, Dorset was breathing heavily, glaring at him. A large amount of mana gathered around the cultist, and it was clear he was going to go on the offensive once more.
"Union dog!" Dorset roared. "Today's the day you die!"
Bunosilo remained calm and silent, not even bothering to reply. With his enemy's emotions now running wild, he was certain that very soon he was going to defeat him. His hands turned into a blur as he prepared for the next defensive spell.
But suddenly, his eyes widened when he sensed an overwhelming threat to his life rapidly approaching him... from behind!
His hand seals were interrupted, and now he had no other option but to evade.
Bunosilo darted to the side with urgent speed, narrowly avoiding a bolt of necrotic energy that tore through the space where he had just been hovering.
But the danger had yet to pass.
In front of him, Dorset had already finished preparing for his spell. With a malicious grin on his face, he cast dozens of ivory spears at him. Within a heartbeat, the bone-like projectiles had already arrived before him. Bunosilo gritted his teeth and quickly activated his defensive artifact. Two bracelets flared to life, and a curtain of mana formed in front of him. The curtain was fluid and moved like water. The projectiles struck it, bounced off, and were redirected to the side.
Just as the last of the bone spears struck the defensive barrier, Bunosilo's expression turned ugly. Fighting one Mana Core Magi was doable for him. But fighting two... that was going to be very problematic.
Escape was out of the question. If he fled, then what about his allies? He didn't even dare to think of that outcome. He would never abandon his allies. And his hatred for the Cult ran deep.
Just as he was forming his battle plan, the setting sun behind him cast a large shadow looming over his body. Bunosilo's heart sank, and he turned his head
stiffly.
A towering undead knight hovered behind him, its armor riddled with ivory
spears.
That was all he saw before the knight's greatsword came down on him, cleaving
him in two.
Bunosilo had wandered the lands alone since he was young. He shocked the world when he became a Mana Core Magus without any backing or guidance.
He was an honorable man. He was a good man.
And he fell at the Battle of Summer Sea...
