Chapter 1726 Murderous Fury

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

The orcs, under the effects of the artifact, knew no fear.

Their army had already separated into two. A large contingent faced the Union's forces coming in from the north, while the smaller contingent faced the relief forces approaching from the east.

It was a scene of pure carnage. From the north and east, the two forces struck at the same time.

The northern cavalry crashed into the orc lines head-on, breaking their front with sheer force. From the east, the second wave cut into their flank with

lightning speed and precision. The orcs tried to hold formation, but the pressure came from two sides at once, leaving no room to stabilize.

The battlefield shifted within moments, and it was a sight to behold. The two relief forces did not spread out. Instead, they kept moving, curving their advance inward.

What began as two separate attacks slowly turned into a tightening arc. The orcs were forced to turn, then turn again, reacting to strikes that never stopped coming.

Step by step, they were pushed into a tighter space.

The formation closed further, shaping into a slow, grinding spiral. The outer lines kept moving, pressing inward, while the inner mass of orcs struggled to break free. Every attempt to push out was met with another wave of steel and power.

As the spiral formation tightened, the orc numbers began to drop. They died in steady droves, and soon enough, they found themselves standing on the corpses of their brethren with no space to move.

The two relief forces had not coordinated the battle plan beforehand. There was no time to. However, the moment the two sides met on the battlefield, they seamlessly worked together to bring the orcs down.

In a spectacular display of military strategy, the Magi's spiraling formation tightened as time went on until only a few thousand orcs remained.

The ground trembled. Then one after another, massive earthen walls rose from the earth, sealing every path of escape. They formed a complete circle, cutting off the orc army from all sides.

The cavalry pulled back at once. In their place, hundreds of Magi leapt onto the newly formed walls, taking position above the trapped force.

And then, the fire magic began.

Blazing spells were cast in rapid succession, raining down into the trapped mass. Flames spread quickly, catching armor, flesh, and ground alike. The orcs burned as they tried to push outward, clawing at the walls, forcing against each other in desperation.

But there was nowhere to go. More Magi gathered at the base of the walls, channeling mana into them, reinforcing the structure and sealing the trap tight. It did not matter that the orcs had been enslaved by the Cult and forced to participate in the war. There would be no mercy for the enemies.

Not even thirty minutes had passed since the relief force had arrived, yet the orc army was gone. They were burned to ashes and buried within the earthen tomb that had trapped them.

In the near distance, the thousands of undead creatures had been burned by the Immortal Flames. None of them would regenerate again. None of them would live again.

To the south, the Amberfall harbor still burned with crimson flames. It had become a tomb of broken ships - ships that belonged to the enemy.

The Haynam Empire had arrived with over two hundred ships, twenty thousand soldiers, five thousand undead monsters, four Mana Core Magi, and eight Rank 4 undead knights. Osbert and fifteen thousand orcs had reinforced them further.

Yet they had been defeated nevertheless by a far smaller force.

Amberfall did not win through strength alone, but through planning.

They shaped the battlefield from the start, drawing the enemy fleet into harbor, weakening it with layered bombardments, and then sealing the entrance with a chain. The red fire in the harbor broke the back of the invasion in a single, decisive moment.

At the same time, the city held its ground against the undead, and its Mana Core Magi fought desperately to keep the enemy Mana Core Magi at bay. They bought just enough time.

And then came the final blow.

From the north and east came the reinforcements of the Union. Experts from Yen-Lu arrived and assisted the city's Mana Core Magi to defeat the enemies. When the dust settled, Amberfall stood tall and undefeated.

Goro grabbed Osbert by the ankle and dragged him across the battlefield. All the while, he continued to curse under his breath, speaking in a language that was utterly unfamiliar to the cultist.

When the one-armed Necromancer saw the towering earthen pillar on the battlefield, with ash and smoke rising from it, he went pale. The stench of burning flesh hung in the air. The pillar had become the orcs' funeral pyre.

All around the pillar, thousands of Union Magi sat on horseback and watched him with cold eyes. In that moment, Osbert knew he was done for. There was no escaping judgment.

Goro walked toward the city wall. At its base, he saw the corpses of Jianshi still burning. Those flames... they were unlike anything he'd ever seen.

His gaze landed on a figure. A woman with flaming red hair. Though her face was marked by blood and ash, Goro swore that he'd never seen a more beautiful woman before. She appeared so heroic that for a moment, he forgot

about everything else.

Anna's gaze settled on the Venom Dragon. She only cast him a brief glance before she shifted her attention to the one-armed Magus being dragged by

him.

Her face instantly turned cold.

Goro's heart skipped a beat. For some reason, the murderous look on Anna's

face only made her seem prettier.

This is what a woman ought to be, he thought in his heart.

Blazing hot murderous fury!

He finally arrived before her. With his height, he towered over her. Goro's eyes

met Anna's, and his heart stirred again.

"Heh!" He displayed a toothy grin and said, "Woman, state your name!"

Anna looked at him without interest. Of course, she didn't understand a word

he said.

Goro's lips parted, and he was about to introduce himself, but Anna walked past

him.

"W-Wait, please wait!" Osbert flailed his arms desperately. But there was nowhere to run. Goro's grip on his ankle held him in place.

Anna's heart turned cold as she gripped the sword tighter in her hand.

"You can't do this!" Osbert cried in fear. "I have valuable intel-"

Stab!

Princess Anna plunged the blade straight through his skull. Then, without

casting another glance, she turned and headed toward the city gates.

Goro stood there, gaping. He looked down at Osbert's cold body, then back at

Anna as she walked away.

Only one word escaped his lips.

"Beautiful..."
