Chapter 1749 Wreaking Havoc

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

The Dark King burst into a sprint, the ground beneath him splitting apart.

In the blink of an eye, he had already crossed a vast distance across the battlefield and arrived in front of the empire's frontlines.

The Mana Core Magi stationed at the front visibly paled. However, they were prepared. Before the youth could attack, they had already jointly cast a wide Mana Barrier.

No matter how powerful the Dark King's strike was, they were certain that the barrier would hold.

Adam was already upon them, his mana-coated fist mere inches away from smashing the barrier. But at the last possible moment, the corner of his lips curled into a smirk, and he turned his fist into a simple hand seal.

For the briefest of moments, a faint outline of an arched gateway came to life, encompassing his figure. The following second, he disappeared.

The Mana Core-level cultists' eyes widened when they saw the Dark King's figure vanish right before their very eyes. But before they could act, the space behind them trembled ever so slightly.

In the next heartbeat, Adam appeared behind them. He twisted his body midair and then swiped his hand, sending forth a powerful Wind of Emanation.

Splat!

The three cultists didn't even know what hit them. They were still staring in front of them, the spot where the Dark King had just vanished from, when suddenly, an invisible wind blade cut through their torsos, severing their bodies in two.

Their agonizing screams cut through the ranks, causing those who witnessed their brutal murder to shudder uncontrollably.

But the cultists wouldn't die so soon. It would be a long and painful death. But at the very least, they were completely incapacitated.

Adam's feet finally touched the ground. By then, he had already finished the components to cast his spell.

Rank 4 Spell: Amplify Gravity!

A visible shockwave of energy swept outward. The ground beneath cracked apart, forming large, gaping fissures.

The effect was almost immediate. The Mana Foundation Magi nearby instantly crumbled to death. The Mana Liquefaction Magi struggled for a second or two before their organs were unable to take the brunt any longer.

Only the Mana Vortex Magi managed to survive. However, almost all of them were swept off their feet, and they struggled to breathe. They survived long enough…

Long enough for Adam to cast the next spell.

He cancelled the gravity spell and then quickly cast earth magic. In a radius of dozens of meters, the ground rumbled and erupted into countless spikes. The Magi that had been rendered motionless by the gravity spell now found themselves impaled by the spikes.

Adam paid no heed to the scores of Magi he had just slaughtered. His objective was simple: encourage his men to advance. Once they began fighting and learned that the enemy had been weakened by the poison, their momentum would be unstoppable.

It was imperative for them to get rid of a large number of the Empire's forces before the devils arrived.

His senses flooded outward like a tidal wave. He searched for the nearest Mana Core Magi. He knew there were still a lot of them left, despite him killing many of them a few days ago.

But suddenly, the Sphere of Resonance picked up on something. The movement it registered was subtle, but the sense of danger radiating from said movement was immense.

The shadows of the corpses around him stirred.

Adam's eyes narrowed as two devils shot out from the shadows, wielding sharp daggers. He was about to counter when suddenly he felt a pair of ashen hands rise from his own shadow in an attempt to grab his ankles and pin him to the ground.

Left with no other choice, he jumped quickly, narrowly avoiding the hands that ended up holding onto nothing but empty air. But in doing so, Adam made himself a very easy target for the two assassins who were already upon him.

He twisted his body unnaturally in midair, dodging the first devil's attack. The shadowkin's dagger missed his chest and grazed just past his shoulder, tearing his clothes and leaving a long cut across his flesh.

But there was no time to dodge the second shadowkin.

Adam's expression twisted ferociously. He leaned his body just enough for the devil's dagger to miss his heart and instead pierce his right chest.

The devil revealed a crooked grin, for he knew that the dagger's blade was coated with a potent poison. Adam had already been grazed by a blade before, and now, one had directly pierced his body.

But the next moment, the shadowkin's smile froze.

Adam's left hand shot out, viciously grabbing the back of the devil's head. His fingers clamped down, almost digging into the skull and making the shadowkin grimace in pain.

In the next heartbeat, Adam's right hand shot out also.

Bam!

One strike to the devil's face, and his nose was shattered.

Bam!

Another strike at the same spot, and his face caved in.

Bam!

The final strike completely shattered the devil's head.

By the time the two landed back on the ground, the shadowkin was already dead, his headless body twitching eerily.

However, before dying… the devil had managed to drive his other dagger straight through Adam's shoulder blade.

The difference in levels between a Magus from the lower world, like Tron, and a Magus from a Plane of Existence, like Hell, was clearly beginning to show.

Adam could effortlessly one-shot a Magus from Tron. But to kill a Magus from the Greater Universe, he had to exert more strength and effort.

Even though the shadowkins were expert assassins and he was outnumbered, the fact remained… to kill one, he had to sustain injuries.

A soft groan escaped his lips as he yanked the daggers out of his chest and shoulder.

He could already feel the venom slowly spreading through his body, but he didn't care about that.

"It's over, Dark King."

A cold voice echoed in his ears. In the near distance, the shadow of an earthen spike stirred, and Rekan rose from it. Following that, several more shadowkins emerged from the shadows, completely surrounding him.

"I've been told you're a Herbalist," Rekan continued. "But I'm sure you don't have the antidote to the poison wreaking havoc inside your body."

"Heh." Adam sneered. "Wreaking havoc?"

He spun the daggers in his hands and got into a fighting stance. His aura did not diminish at all. Instead, it turned even more dangerous, even more tyrannical.

His lips curled into a menacing smirk.

"You sure about that?"
