Chapter 2001: Dance of Violence

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

The moment the Last Knight’s immense killing intent washed over the castle, Adam and Luca’s faces grew solemn.

Although Adam was more amused than serious. With a carefree smile on his face, he couldn’t help but comment, "Would you look at that? I wonder how many people he’s killed to cloak himself in an aura like that."

After learning the truth about the monsters in the secret plane, Adam no longer referred to them as "it". It was difficult to, knowing that they had once been normal people.

He cast a side glance at Luca and said, "You sure you can handle this alone?"

Luca snorted. "Don’t patronize me, Constantine."

Adam raised his hands in a gesture of surrender. "I’m just concerned, is all."

"I’ll take care of him," Luca said with a nod, his grey eyes flickering with confidence. "You go do whatever you came here to do."

Adam smiled. "Very well. If you need help, just call out to me."

"Get lost already!" Luca growled as he began loosening his shoulder muscles.

On the other end of the throne room, the Last Knight rose to his feet, his cold gaze locked onto both Adam and Luca. Seeing the latter was turning to leave, the knight’s hand suddenly turned into a blur.

Clang!

A dagger tore through the air in the blink of an eye, crossing the entire throne room with terrifying speed.

But before it could even reach Adam, Luca stepped forward. His hand shot up. The dagger came to an abrupt stop. The Paladin stood before Adam, calmly gripping the blade between his thumb and finger.

Adam whistled in approval. He had seen the trajectory of the dagger and was confident enough to effortlessly dodge it. But Luca had abruptly appeared in front of him and grabbed the dagger by the blade.

He patted Luca’s shoulder. "Good luck, my friend."

With that, he turned and casually strutted out of the throne room, leaving behind Luca and an intrigued undying knight.

The knight tilted his head slightly. For the first time, it seemed genuinely surprised. Luca had stopped his dagger with nothing but his bare fingers.

The atmosphere within the throne room gradually grew heavy and oppressive.

Luca stepped forward, bouncing lightly on his feet as he loosened the muscles in his arms and legs. Then, with a faint grin on his face, he lowered himself into a combat stance.

Across from him, the Last Knight remained motionless.

For a brief moment, its gaze shifted toward the massive greatsword resting beside the throne. And then...

It turned away.

Luca blinked in surprise. "Not using your sword?"

The knight did not respond with words, but with action. He had no intention of using his weapon. Instead, he slowly raised his empty, gauntleted hands and lowered himself into a fighting stance of his own.

A silent understanding passed between them.

Luca had chosen to fight without a weapon. And so would the Last Knight. Even after more than two thousand years of undeath, the knight had not forgotten his honor.

Luca slowly straightened. Out of respect for his opponent, he placed a fist over his chest and introduced himself:

"I am Luca of the Imperium."

The Last Knight did not respond. He never did.

For a brief moment, the two simply stood there, facing one another across the ruined throne room. Then the knight’s aura changed. The oppressive killing intent surrounding him condensed, turning sharp and precise.

Every trace of unnecessary aggression disappeared, leaving behind only the cold, unwavering focus of a warrior who had devoted his entire existence to battle.

Luca’s expression gradually turned serious as well. He knew that the opponent he was facing now was the real deal. He could feel it in his bones. The knight had battle experience of more than two thousand years, while he was only a little over a hundred years old.

Still, that did not deter Luca. No, it only made him all the more excited. The Last Knight would be the perfect whetstone for him to sharpen his skills. In the next moment, his own aura shifted. His muscles relaxed, and his breathing slowed.

And then...

Boom!

Both figures exploded into motion.

They appeared in the middle of the throne room, their forearms colliding. A violent shockwave erupted outward. The ancient glass windows that had somehow survived for countless years shattered all at once.

Fragments of glass rained down from above as the two combatants separated, only to clash again.

Luca’s mana-augmented fist shot toward the knight’s face. The Last Knight tilted his head, the punch grazing past his visor. At the same time, his knee rose toward Luca’s ribs. The Paladin twisted his body, and the armored knee passed by his side.

Immediately after, his elbow came crashing down with fierce momentum. The knight blocked the attack with his forearm. Luca quickly spun around, his leg sweeping toward the knight’s feet. But the Last Knight was agile despite his heavy armor.

He jumped, and the kick passed harmlessly beneath him. Before he could land, however, Luca was already there. His fist shot upward in a brutal uppercut. The knight twisted in midair, the punch narrowly missing his chest.

The instant the knight’s boots touched the ground, he instantly retaliated. His fist blurred. Luca leaned backward as the armored knuckles passed inches above his face. Another punch came. Luca twisted. A kick followed, and he jumped.

Their movements became faster and faster. Fist. Elbow. Knee. Kick. Every strike was answered with a dodge, block, or counterattack.

Bam!

Their legs collided. For a brief moment, neither moved as they stood inches apart. And then, they were sent flying backward.

Luca slid across the stone floor before coming to a stop. Across from him, the Last Knight’s boots carved two deep lines through the ancient tiles.

The throne room had become their battlefield where they executed a beautiful dance of violence. Neither combatant wasted a single movement. Every step had a purpose, every dodge created an opening, and every missed strike became the beginning of another attack.

Luca understood that he was vastly outskilled by the Last Knight. However, the battle-hungry grin on his face never faded.

He stepped forward, and the knight did the same.

Then, once again, their figures vanished.

The sound of their battle echoed throughout the ancient castle like rolling thunder.
