Alan had a large luggage bag in his hand.
Obviously, Alan was someone who had magic bags that didn't increase in size or weight no matter what he put in them.
Nevertheless, he brought this luggage bag that was as big as his body with him, without asking servants to do it for him or even using magic.
Rumein, who easily noticed his intentions, asked in a flat tone,
“Do you want me to feel sorry for you?”
“Well, its a relief that you realise it at least,”
Alan, who had brought the luggage all the way to Rumein's desk before putting it down, replied like that. He then spread his palm in front of Rumein, over the thick mark on the handle of the bag.
“This old man is suffering like this because your majesty showed momentary excessive care towards your son, so what are you going to do about this?”
Rumein answered without taking his eyes off the documents he was looking at.
“It's not like I can trust those who aren't my own swords,”
“No matter how much that might be true, what should we do if you really send Kaela?” Alan rolled his eyes.
It had definitely been agreed that that Rumein would send the Karen Knights.
However, when he learned that Brissen was deeply entwined in this case, he immediately changed his orders and sent his personal knights order, Kaela out. It had all been done in the gap when Alan had gone to send out the carrier pigeons under Calian's orders.
There was no warning for the change, and so, Alan had to pack his own luggage and bring it to the palace like this.
Because the small corner of safety made by the Kaela knights had been left open and so, now that they were marching off, Alan had to protect Rumein in their place.
“If your majesty keeps giving Prince Calian special treatment, it won't result in anything good for him right now., It just means that the moment others feel the favourtisim, his lifeline is cut a little more. I thought you didn't show interest in any of them because of that very reason?”
Rumein nodded, as though there was nothing to worry about – he had already considered that.
“So I've decided to have a meal with the two princes tomorrow,”
“Are you saying you're putting a mere meal and the Kaela knights on the same scale?”
“It's two see what their relationship is like,”
He wanted to see if there were any signs of a power struggle between the two princes.
“There's nothing to see. It's more weird that there isn't a bloodbath in the palace right now,”
Alan who said so, walked over to the sofa and flopped down without ceremony. Rumein, who was looking at Alan now, fixed his glasses as he asked,
“From your point of view, is their relationship really so bad?”
Now that it had come to a situation where he had to examine them closely, Rumein, who had never had the capacity to put up with all three of his sons at once, looked to Alan and Alan, who had become his escort through a strange fate, smirked as he glanced back.
After seeing that smirk, Rumein quickly stopped him talking,
“No, don't tell me. I understand.”
Alan, who had been about to say that the dogs at the fighting grounds got along better than the princes, nodded and smiled.
Where in the world did Calian pick up such a guy?
Rumein, who had ended up becoming the one who spent the most time with Alan, looked in the direction of Latran for a moment.
—
Just as he was preparing to go to bed, Arsen came to Calian, who was resting on the sofa, sat opposite Yan and drinking cold mint tea.
After having worked hard and confiscating the divine items in Hale's possession, he also added,
“As I had been watching him, I felt that Count Latran's words and actions were undesirable. If I can dare to tell you my own thoughts, I believe he will need to be punished,”
Calian frowned, but it looked like he could somewhat guess why.
“What did he say?”
At his question, Arsen looked a little embarrassed and asked,
“Would it be alright for me to say such rude things before the prince?”
It was normal that mages were extremely good at memorisation. That was because they had to memorise things like complex spells, magic compositions and mana arrangements.
Arsene, who had been selected as the only mage able to escort Calian, was one of the wizards who excelled at memorisation and there, would not have had any difficulty in memorising those few short phrases that Hale had spat out.
Having overlooked such things, Calian nodded at Arsene's question without much thought.
And got cursed out.
So Calian quickly reflected on his strict attitude towards Arsene and sent Hale, who was detained in another room, down the prison cell that was right next to the torture room.
It was the most humid and dark place in the dungeon. It was treatment that was meant to teach him using his whole body what it was like to live as a lowly being.
The crime of contempt towards the royal family was crime that could be sufficiently punished even within the authority of a prince.
After that, time passed and Calian discussed with magic with Arsene and exchanged swords with Kyrie – telling him what he needed to fix, or chatted with Yan as they waited for the Knights from Kyrisis to arrive.
And soon,
“It seems to be.... Kaela...”
Calian's mouth fell open slightly, as he watched the majestic knights of Kaela enter Latran. It took less than the time to blink, to understand why Alan had been at the palace, and why he had said it was part of his job.
The Kaela knights rested for just one day after arriving in Latran.
Then, apart from Norton, who had suddenly ‘died” from a heart attack, they took Ayla and Hale and immediately headed for Kyrisis.
Of course, Norton, whose body was taken out of the castle after his death, work up well again soon enough and would be heading to the land Calian had prepared for him, to join his wife. Their new identification papers would be delivered to that land from where Alan had sent it.
“We pray that you will have a safe journey. I am truly grateful.”
Thus, after receiving Malcom's greetings, who taken over as administrator of the estate until a new lord arrived, Calian left Latran.
Time passed.
Hale was stripped of his noble title and spent the rest of his life imprisoned. Ayla had been sentenced to be executed.
Calian, who heard Alan's words just as the Hiriska forest came into sight, nodded.
