Third Person POV

Ah, so the time has finally come

Inside the Agastia Archive, left silent in the Demon Kings absence, Sheena spoke softly to herself, her tone deeply reflective. Her mind wandered through the countless memories of everything she had witnessedmemories she was not allowed to forget.

The world was repeating. But its repetition was not limited to the small cycles known to the Demon King. There was another, far grander cycle, one so immense that even its creator, God, had forgotten about it.

The world kept repeating. Over and over again the world would end, only to start anew.

Normally, when the world ends, there is no next. Whatever happens to the God secluded within their shell remains unknown, but at the very least, all of Gods created worlds should have returned to nothingness.

However, the world continued its loops. Fearing the first ever threat of The End, God had imposed restrictions and sealed away the Demon King with all their divine power. Therein lay the problemthe restriction granted the Demon King the ability to return upon death. Because this return was an act of Gods full might, it left no room for exceptions, even if the world itself perished.

As a result, not only was the world rewound to the moment just after God shattered the Demon Kings power and sealed it, but even Gods own memory was reset. The only exception was Sheena and the room she resided in, both of which were created to be isolated from the flow of time so they could record and remember everything.

Its been so long. An eternity too long.

Sheenas voice, filled with quiet sorrow, echoed in the empty archive. I alone know the truth. I alone count the ends. For someone like me, who can do nothing but watch it has been unbearably, endlessly long.

If only she could tell God the truth, escaping the cycle would have been trivial. But Sheena was forbidden from returning to the original God until the Demon Kings journey concluded. Moreover, she was unable to communicate her will directly to God.

Sheena had witnessed fragments of God occasionally entering the world near its end and then returning to the original God, but even they refrained from interfering with her existence or this space. In other words, there was nothing she could do.

And so, Sheena had resigned herself to an eternity of accumulating memories, certain that one day she would wear down so much that even her sense of self would be lost.

But that long unchanging existence was unexpectedly disrupted after the world had been reset over ten thousand times.

Well, well. So this is the secret hideout of the mastermind, huh?

What!?

Sheena let out a voice of pure shock at the sudden appearance of an uninvited guest. The one who had casually strolled into this inviolable space was none other than the Demon King himself.

Why are you here, Demon King!?

Demon King? Whats that supposed to mean?

Ah

The Demon King tilted his head in confusion at Sheenas outburst. It only took her a moment to realize that this version of the Demon King had yet to regain his memories. She hurriedly composed herself, adopting a formal tone as she addressed him again.

This is not a place where someone like you should tread. How did you manage to arrive here?

How? What are you talking about? Youre the ones who set this up for me, right?

?

It was Sheenas turn to tilt her metaphorical head in confusion. (Currently, Sheena existed in the form of a glowing orb, so she technically had no head, but the atmosphere conveyed her puzzlement well enough.)

[Unlimited], the Demon King began, holding up a golden key that gleamed brightly in his hand. Its supposed to grant any wish, so I wished to meet the person responsible for dragging me into all of this. Next thing I knew, a door appeared in front of me. I used this key to unlock it, and now Im here.

That!

Sheenas gaze fixated on the key in the Demon Kings hand. She easily recognized it as a miraculous tool created by Goda mechanism designed to force the Demon King to revisit worlds doomed to tragic ends. Its purpose was to overwhelm him with a sense of powerlessness and the futility of his efforts, thereby breaking his spirit.

Of course, the [Unlimited] was crafted directly from Gods power. While it was generally incapable of reaching Gods original form, it could evidently breach the walls of time and space to uncover the hidden path to this archive. Since Sheena was the one responsible for transporting the Demon King between worlds, he was considered a valid target.

With such a key, opening the door to this space was entirely plausible. After all, it was imbued with Gods own power. If anything, it would have been strange if the door hadnt opened.

Whats more, for the Demon King, who had no memories at this stage of the loop, it was only natural to want answers. Dragged into an incomprehensible ordeal, anyone would desire to confront the mastermind behind their suffering.

Sheena, though surprised, accepted the fact that the Demon King had come here, as if by a miracle upon a miracle, due to a shift in awareness unlike before, yet still within the bounds of understanding, where all other factors had aligned perfectly.

And with that, the Demon King glared sharply at Sheena, his voice cutting like a blade.

So youre the one who kidnapped me, forcing me into all this incomprehensible nonsense. Answer mewhy did you do this?

That I cannot say. Im forbidden to speak of it.

Then*

However, Sheena interrupted, her tone calm and deliberate, there is no rule against you reading those books yourself and discovering the truth. This is the Agastia Archivea repository containing all the worlds knowledge. Whatever you wish to learn is likely written here.

Wait, seriously!?

The Demon Kings voice cracked with surprise. He had been about to point his sword at a nearby book to use it as a threat, only to hear the completely unexpected response.

Sheena, bound by her restrictions, could not disclose any information to the Demon King herself. However, those restrictions did not prevent the Demon King from investigating the archive on his own. This loophole existed because God had never accounted for anyone aside from Sheena reaching this placea testament to the fact that while God might be omniscient, they were far from omnipotent.

I see Huh. Sorry about that, I guess.

Think nothing of it.

Sheena responded curtly, her tone cold and indifferent, as the Demon King sheathed his sword and awkwardly scratched at the back of his head. With that, he cautiously approached the towering bookshelves. Faced with an unfathomable number of volumesbeyond trillions in quantityhe hesitantly picked one up.

Wow, theres really all kinds of information in here But hang on. With this many books, how am I supposed to find the one I need? Uh, hey uh

What is it?

Sheena, turning her focus to the Demon King, answered in her usual monotone, devoid of any emotion.

So, uh if you could teach me how to use this place properly or give me some pointers, Id be, you know, really thankful

Why not simply start reading the books one by one?

No way! Theres no way I could read all this! And some of these shelves are so tall that I cant even reach them!

Sheena let out a light sigh before responding. If you focus on the information you seek while reaching for a book, you should find something relevant to your query. This place wasnt designed for humans, so there are no detailed search functions.

Oh, really? Thats actually super helpful. Thanks!

Youre welcome.

The Demon Kings genuine, unguarded gratitude sparkd a flicker of curiosity in Sheenas heart. However, the Demon King didnt notice and was already engrossed in browsing through the book he had pulled from the shelf. After some time, he closed the book quietly and turned his sharp gaze toward Sheena.

Hey, you uh

Oh? You may call me Scenario Writer.'

Scenario Writer, huh? Alright then. Let me confirm somethingeverything written in these books its all true, isnt it?

Yes. Everything in this archive is recorded factimmutable and certain. Just as a red apple may one day turn blue or yellow, its original redness will forever remain a part of history. Nothing here can be altered.

I see In that case, Ill accept for now that Ive been wandering through 100 alternate worlds with my memory erased, and that I am, in fact, the Demon King. But whats written here about the world itself ending repeatedlywhat does that mean?

That, too, is exactly as its written, Sheena replied with a solemn tone.

So basically, the God sealed themselves up in their shells, and that caused the world to fall apart? Is that what youre saying?

Yes, thats correct.

Youve got to be kidding me Wait, but if Im the one connected to all this, wouldnt me going back with this information stop it from happening again?

The Demon Kings voice carried a faint sense of hope, but Sheena quickly dashed it with a slight shake of her body, resembling a soft tremor.

Thats impossible. Firstly, the Agastia Archive exists outside the Records of the world. This means that any knowledge or experiences you gain here will not be recorded. The moment you leave this place, everything youve learned will vanish from your memory.

In other words I wont remember any of this?

Thats correct. Furthermore, even if you managed to act differently in this loop, it would only affect this one cycle. Without the power to break the seal on this world, you will inevitably die, lose your memories and power again, and return to the loop. When that happens

The world ends again, and the cycle resets. Damn thats absolutely the worst,'the Demon King growled, clicking his tongue in annoyance. He moved to replace the book on the shelf, but his hand paused midway.

The world cant change. I cant retain my memories. So my actions wont change, and the ending stays the same But if I could interfere with even one of those things, wouldnt that change everything?

Interfere? The events directly tied to you are heavily protected. Changing those would be impossiblesomething not even God could accomplish.

Yeah, I figured as much. Thats why Im not talking about directly messing with myself. Im talking about taking a more indirect, roundabout approach. Lets see here

The Demon King pulled the book back into his hands, a devious grin spreading across his face.

Why dont we add a little something to this poorly written story and turn it into a happy ending?
