Chapter 2464: Movie Watching with Kaori

When I came to a shop that sold sweets and snacks with Kaori-san, I found that they actually had a pretty wide selection. There were things that felt like old-fashioned dagashi, items more like modern snack foods, and even bottled cookies and dried fruits, it was surprisingly well stocked overall.

[Its kind of unexpected. I never really had the chance to visit shops like this before, and I havent had many opportunities to eat these kinds of sweets in this world, so it feels really fresh to me.]

[Ahh~~ Kaito-kun, before you bought your own house, you were staying with that noble family Lilia-sans place, right? Theres no way a Duchy would serve these kinds of commoner snacks, so it cant be helped. When you go on pilgrimages as the Hero Actor, you actually end up eating them pretty often, though. These kinds of sweets are aimed at commoners, so a lot of them keep for a long time and are good for snacking.]

[I see. When you think about it that way, the existence of the magic box probably has a big influence too, doesnt it?]

[Yeah, thats true. If you have a magic box, you dont really need to worry about expiration dates, and you can even store freshly made sweets. So you end up drifting away from more everyday, commoner-style snacks.]

There are, of course, things like factories in this world as well. They use large-scale magic tools to mass-produce goods, and when it comes to sweets, the variety didnt feel all that different from my original world.

Come to think of it, Niftys products are also made with mass production in mind but those are a different story. Theyre special items made by Canalis-san. After all, theyre practically cheat-level products that dont consume any energy at all, so theyre fundamentally different from ordinary factories.

Or rather, when it comes to the separate space she has created in the backyard, the contractual restrictions with Shiro-san seem to be fairly loose. As long as whatever is made there isnt taken outside that space, its apparently possible to produce all kinds of items that would be completely inconceivable by ordinary standards.

[Oh, and another big reason is simply that my magic box is already packed full of sweets. I mean, Ive got about 800 of ripple pies alone]

[What kind of mental lapse leads someone to buy 800 ripple pies? You should just buy more after you finish eating them]

[No, I didnt buy them, they were a gift a thousand of them Ive reduced the number quite a bit already.]

[1000 ripple pies as a present I really want to retort its way too many but with this related to Kaito-kun, if I react carelessly, theres a high chance the giver is some incredible person, so I cant say anything.]

[Would you like one too, Kaori-san? Theyre really delicious.]

[Thanks. In that case, Ill have one.]

The huge number of ripple pies I got from Ein-san, Ive been giving them to acquaintances and eating them as snacks, and Ive managed to go through about 200 so far. Even so, I havent even reduced them by half yet.

I mean, the taste is insanely good, and since theyre in the magic box, I can eat them freshly made at any time, which is wonderful but there are just too many. Well, Ill take my time and work through them.

[Kaito-kun, your magic box has all kinds of things in it, doesnt it?]

[Yeah, most of the things I get end up going straight into the magic box. I do tidy it up once in a while, but its so convenient that there are quite a few things Ive left in there and completely forgotten about.]

[Ah, I get you. I got a large-capacity magic box too, and I often just toss things in with a for now, into the magic box you go mindset. Sometimes I even forget what I put in there. I mean, if you touch the magic box and picture it, you can tell whats inside, but unless you consciously check, you dont really know.]

A magic box has a function that lets you see, or rather recall whats inside it. When the owner touches the magic box and declares that they want to check its contents, a list-like image of everything inside floats up in their mind.

[By the way, changing the subject, or maybe going back to it but Kaito-kun, do you have any favorite kind of sweets?]

[I think I prefer chocolate-based sweets over snack foods. Anything that combines chocolate and cookies is a guaranteed hit.]

[Ah, yeah, those are good. I like snack foods too, but if I eat too much with the same mindset I had when I was younger, my stomach gets upset, which is a bit of a problem.]

[But with Olivia-sans Blessing, wouldnt you be fine now?]

[Oh, right, does it work on things like that too? I dont plan on overeating or drinking excessively, but being able to eat as much as I could when I was younger might be nice]

Indeed, back when youre in high school, there are times when you feel like you could eat endlessly of course, thats just a sensation, not like you can actually eat infinitely though well, there are people like Alice who really can eat without limits

[Come to think of it, High-ranking Demons convert the food they eat directly into magic power, so it seems they really can eat as much as they want.]

[I see that would mean their calorie intake is basically zero, right? H- How nice. Being able to eat a lot without worrying about gaining weight sounds so nice You really cant help caring about things like your weight, you know.]

[From my perspective, Kaori-san is slim and is really beautiful, but I understand why youd worry about it.]

In fact, thanks to Shiro-sans blessing, I dont gain weight no matter how much I eat either, but even so, when I have a late-night snack, I sometimes find myself worrying about my weight anyway.

Things like height and weight are exactly the sort of obsessions that other people cant really see, but everyone has them in one form or another. Its a tricky thing.
