Chapter 2486: Movie Watching with Kaori

After finishing my bath, I wiped myself down and headed to the changing room, where I noticed the hummingbird magic tool I had left there blinking. The hummingbird magic tool has something like what youd call sleep mode on a smartphone a standby mode.

When you leave it in this state while sleeping and the like, any incoming hummingbirds are stored inside the magic tool, and the magic tool itself blinks faintly so it isnt too bright.

If you touch the magic tool in this state, the received hummingbirds will appear, so you can just touch it to check them.

When I checked, it turned out to be a message from Kaori-san. She wanted to visit my room, so she asked me to contact her after I got out of the bath.

I dried my hair and changed clothes, taking them out of the magic box. Originally, I was planning to go straight to bed, so I had intended to put on sleepwear, but since Kaori-san was coming, casual everyday clothes would be fine.

After changing, I used the hummingbird to tell her that I was heading back to my room now, then returned to my room. About 5 minutes later, Kaori-san came by, so I opened the door to welcome her.

[Sorry for coming so suddenly well, you see, I cant really fall asleep right away after getting out of the bath, and if Kaito-kun doesnt mind, I was hoping you could keep me company for a bit of casual chatting and also, my room is so big that its kind of hard to relax when Im alone.]

I understood how Kaori-san felt. Ive gotten used to it by now, but when I first came to this world, the room I was assigned was so spacious that it made me feel strangely unsettled too.

It might be a little different from not being able to sleep because your pillow is different, but when the atmosphere of a room, or the mood itself, so to speak, is different, its natural for anyone to feel at least a little uneasy until they get used to it.

[Ah, Kaori-san, would you like something to drink? Since its night, coffee might not be a great idea, so how about some cocoa?]

Since I had some cocoa that Aria-san gave me for my birthday, I decided to use that and took the can out of the magic box.

[It looks like a tea can, but the contents are cocoa. It was a gift. And then theres this milk]

[Is that milk something amazing?]

[Well, amazing in a sense you know Canalis-san, right?]

[Unn. The Omnipotent and Omniscient God whos staying with Kaito-kun, right?]

I prefer making cocoa with milk rather than hot water, so I took out the milk Canalis-san gave me, put it into the heating magic tool, and answered Kaori-sans question at the same time.

[Yes, that Canalis-san has been doing all sorts of selective breeding experiments with dairy cows lately]

[Why are you repeating that with a face like you just heard some incomprehensible words?]

[Well, if you tell me that an Omnipotent and Omniscient God is raising dairy cows, Im bound to react like this]

[She was raising chickens too, you know. W- Well, anyway, after a lot of trial and error, she ended up making a kind of milk that seems to pair well with cocoa, so she gave it to me as a present. I was thinking of using that]

[Hehh, I see. So this is milk that a God produced through trial and error I wonder if the fence called common sense even exists around Kaito-kun well, at least I get that its amazing milk.]

[She personally said it was more like something that just happened by accident though.]

Rather than using her God Power to do everything instantly, Canalis-san is the type who enjoys experimenting and tinkering with things, so the milk I was using this time also felt like something that came about by chance.

If I remember right, at first she was trying to create milk suitable for sweets sold at Nifty, so milk tailored specifically for cocoa was a different concept altogether especially since Nifty is a tea brand well, personally, Im just happy to have good milk for drinking cocoa, so I have zero complaints.

[How is your sleep usually, Kaori-san? I fell asleep pretty quickly myself]

[I think Im pretty good at falling asleep too. When I decide to sleep, I can doze off right away. Today was really fun, but it was also pretty tiring, so I might fall asleep the moment I get into bed.]

I handed Kaori-san the cocoa in a mug, and just like when we were watching a movie, the two of us sat side by side on the sofa and chatted.

Maybe because she had just taken a bath, but a soft, pleasant scent drifted from Kaori-san, different from the smell of cocoa.

Just like that, we continued drinking cocoa and making idle small talk. The atmosphere was relaxed and unhurried, and as we slowly exchanged words, I felt a comfortable sense of ease.

From time to time, the conversation would trail off into silence, but it wasnt awkward. It felt more like a pause born of mutual relaxation, and I had the sense that we were spending a genuinely pleasant time together.

[By the way, Kaori-san, do you have any preferences for breakfast tomorrow morning?]

Since Kaori-san was planning to eat breakfast here, I asked in case she had a preference for bread or rice, but unlike usual, she didnt respond right away. Tilting my head in confusion, I turned toward her, and at that exact moment, Kaori-san gently leaned over against me.

Eh? Arehh? Hold on a second could it be that Kaori-san fell asleep?
