Chapter 2490: Movie Watching with Kaori

In the haze of drowsiness, Kaoris consciousness slowly floated to the surface. The first thing she felt was a pleasant warmth, and as her fuzzy mind gradually woke, she slowly opened her eyes.

(Its kind of warm and feels nice Does that mean I slept well? Arehh? But its still dark I cant quite open my eyes yet-)

The room was still dark, but since she had been asleep until just now, Kaoris eyes had adjusted somewhat to the darkness. Whether it was starlight or moonlight she couldnt tell, but with the faint light filtering in, she was able to see a little.

And what jumped into Kaoris view when she opened her eyes was, first, what looked like the chest of a man wearing loose clothing and when she raised her gaze, there was Kaitos sleeping face.

When one speaks of ones thoughts to freeze, this must be it. Faced with such an utterly unexpected situation, Kaoris brain temporarily shut down all thinking.

If this had been a computer screen, an hourglass icon would probably be spinning in circles. It wasnt just that her thoughts couldnt keep up or that she couldnt understand the situation, her thinking had completely stopped, leaving her unable to think about anything at all.

Just like that. Kaori remained in that total mental shutdown for several dozen seconds, but before long, her frozen mind rebooted and started moving again.

The reason she desperately held back from screaming out loud might have been because, somewhere in her unconscious mind, there was still consideration for the sleeping Kaito.

That didnt ease her confusion in the slightest though. Without making a sound, Kaori panicked visibly, darting her eyes around at an incredible speed as she checked her own condition.

There were parts she couldnt see clearly because of the darkness, but from what she could see and the sensations in her body, she was able to grasp the general situation. Right now, Kaori was sleeping while clinging to Kaitos chest, and one of Kaitos arms was wrapped around her back In short, they were sleeping while embracing each other.

(Eh? T- This cant be Did I speed-run our relationship not just with a triple jump, but at rocket-launch speed and end up on the morning coffee after waking up] course!? N- No, wait, calm down, me Its true I drank alcohol, but it was only enough to get lightly tipsy. Sure, my thinking ability mightve dropped a little, but I wasnt drunk enough to make a one-night mistake or lose my memory. I remember properly So if I recall what happened before we went to sleep)

For a moment, her shaken state caused her thoughts to leap ahead wildly, but she desperately forced herself to calm down. Strangely enough, being held by Kaito gave her a sense of relaxation. Her face was burning hot, as if her blood were boiling from embarrassment, but she still managed to get her thoughts moving.

After considering the situation before sleeping, the current situation, and the likely chain of events connecting the two Kaoris cheeks twitched with an indescribable expression on her face.

(Ah. This is totally the pattern where I messed up and caused trouble for Kaito-kun. J- Just a guess, but after drinking the cocoa, I mustve fallen asleep And since its Kaito-kun, I bet he didnt try to forcefully wake me and instead tried to lay me down on the bed. Hes kind, after all, so he probably planned to let me sleep on the bed and then go sleep on the sofa or in another room himself, right?)

Kaori knew Kaitos character well and trusted him. At the very least, he wasnt the kind of person who would vent his base desires on a sleeping member of the opposite sex. She could reasonably assume that their current state of sharing a bed was largely the result of circumstances beyond their control.

And when she tried to think about what those circumstances might have been no matter how she looked at it, it seemed the cause lay with herself.

(Its probably that, right? Based on all the romance stories Ive seen, this situation is the type where I, while asleep, unconsciously grabbed Kaito-kuns hand or clung to him. And honestly, I feel like I was sleeping really deeply, so I probably didnt wake up at all, right? Or maybe he thought itd be cruel to wake me, so he waited for me to naturally wake up or let go, but in the meantime, he got sleepy too and just fell asleep like that.)

Considering both the situation and Kaitos personality, she could make a fairly solid guess, and it was close enough to the truth to be called basically correct.

(Unn. I get the situation. I get it, but putting that aside what do I do now? Its probably, no, definitely me who hugged him first, and I think Im the one at fault here, but while I was asleep, Kaito-kun ended up holding me back too, so I cant move.)

Just because she understood the situation didnt mean she could break out of it. Right now, Kaori was clinging to Kaito while also being held by him in return. Their bodies were almost completely pressed together, making it quite difficult to move.

No, of course, she could forcibly pull herself away if she was willing to wake Kaito up, but being certain that she was the one who had caused him trouble, she couldnt bring herself to take an action that would wake him up in what was clearly the middle of the night.

(B- But still, this is kind of not okay, you know, Kaito-kun!? It feels way too intimate, and t- this level of closeness is insane Errr does this mean I just stay like this until Kaito-kun wakes up? Arehh what time is it now?)

For the record, the current time was 2 AM, and if she were to wait for Kaito to wake up naturally, there was still a long, long time to go.
