The cave-like path I chose in Flame River Racing was fairly easy to navigate, thanks to the lava river itself giving off enough light to illuminate the area, as well as the path being considerably wider than I had expected. There were also several wind balls placed in easy-to-reach positions, and there werent many obstacles. I cant say for certain since I have nothing to compare it to, but wouldnt this be a pretty good route?
As I was thinking that, I continued on for a while, eventually passing through the cave and coming back outside. Judging by the location, were probably around the middle of the mountain. I feel like Ive made pretty good progress.
And when I looked down slightly, I was able to see part of the other courses and right where I happened to move my gaze was Lilia-sans boat.
Her path was fairly wide but seemed to have a moderate number of obstacles, and within the range I could see, Lilia-san was skillfully maneuvering her boat around the obstacles with elegant control.
Even though this isnt an attraction where technique has that much of an impact, I couldnt help thinking that her piloting skills were truly impressive when directly below Lilia-sans boat as she was progressing along the course, a pitfall suddenly appeared or rather, there was an effect that made it look like the road itself was collapsing, and Lilia-san fell while making a face that looked like Eh? Seriously!?.
L- Lilia-saaaaaaan!? W- Was that some kind of course selection? So there are also trap-like gimmicks, or rather, factors that change the course?
Whats more, judging by the position of that pitfall, it was set up so that youd get caught if you tried to take the wind ball by the shortest possible route. Thats a pretty terrifying trap.
Feeling sorry for Lilia-sans incredible luck at encountering it so precisely, I turned my gaze back, only to find that the path had split into several routes again.
I couldnt see any other boats behind me, so it seems like everyone has gotten pretty spread out across the different routes.
But this time there are four Hmm, I have almost no information to base my decision on, so I dont know. For now, Ill take the second path from the left.
Following my intuition and choosing that path Whoa, this route has a lot of obstacles. There are several enormous rocks, and it looks like itll be difficult unless I move the boat quite a bit from side to side
[Whoa!? That was close- ah, shoot!]
At that moment, I saw a volcanic rock falling down and hurriedly moved to avoid it. While I was traveling through the cave-like path, no volcanic rocks had fallen at all, presumably because thats how that section was designed, so Id let my guard down. As a result, my reaction was a little slow, and I moved in the wrong direction to avoid it.
Judging by the positions of the huge rocks, I needed to dodge to the right here. If I went left, there was a huge rock directly in front of me, and by the time I realized Id made a mistake, I was already too close to avoid it.
Well, a collision penalty would only slow me down, not result in a game over, but Id really let my guard down. Even knowing its just a video, crashing straight into a huge rock is terrifying Unn? Eh? Arehh?
My boat charged straight into the huge rock, but instead of the expected slowdown it just passed straight through as though the rock didnt even exist.
[Could this be a hidden route?]
After passing through the huge rock, I found myself entering a cave-like course, and the boat continued onward. I never would have imagined that there would be a hidden course inside an obstacle.
But normally, a hidden course like this would be something akin to a shortcut, so wouldnt it be reasonable to get my hopes up?
The path was somewhat narrow, but it was almost entirely straight, so there wasnt much need to maneuver Then, after progressing for a while, I reached a zone where about 10 wind balls were lined up in a straight line, and I raced along the straight path at tremendous speed as I accelerated.
And once I made it all the way down that straight stretch, there was an exit from the cave, and when I emerged outside again I was at a height where I could see the volcanos crater in other words, I was near the summit.
I continued along the path, and partway through, there was a section where several courses seemed to merge together. Before long, I could see a large gate ahead with the word GOAL written on it.
There was no one ahead of me and when I looked back, I couldnt see anyone elses boat either. If thats the case, then this means
With anticipation welling up inside me, I passed through the goal, and a fanfare rang out as glowing letters reading 1st Place appeared in front of my boat.
Nice! I finished in first place. I had wondered if entering the hidden course might give me a chance, but Im simply happy that I actually came in first.
As I was thinking that, the glowing letters changed, and this time something resembling the clear times from several races was displayed, while Course Time Ranking appeared overhead.
Quite a bit of time had already passed since the amusement park opened, and since this was clearly the main attraction of the Flame Area, I imagine quite a lot of people had played it.
At the very least, the time ranking was displayed starting from 50th place, so at least fifty people had played. And rankings of this sort probably only display from a certain point near the top, so there were likely even more people who had played.
Then, what appeared to be my time began flashing, and it was a far reaching first place, more than two minutes ahead of second place.
Abnormal Luck : [Nows the time!]
Volcanic Bomb : [Leave it to me! Right hereeeee!]
Serious-senpai : [The difference between Lilia getting taken out by the gimmicks and Kaito having even the gimmicks go all-out to support him]
