Chapter 2659: Re: Demon Realm Amusement Park

I couldnt really tell what effect the mental debuff was having, but since wed apparently started, I began moving along the path. Unlike the Undead World, where the route seemed to be clearly laid out, there wasnt really a designated path here. However, certain routes were blocked by large piles of rubble, so I could more or less figure out which direction we were supposed to go.

[Eeeeeek!]

[ [ [ ! ? ] ] ]

Just as I heard a womans voice out of nowhere, a pale-faced woman came running out from around the corner farther down the path. At a glance, she looked like an ordinary human, but considering the warnings wed received beforehand, this was presumably an illusion created by Illusion Magic.

[P- Please, help-]

With tears in her eyes, the woman reached out toward us from a distance. Immediately afterward, her upper body exploded from within, scattering blood and entrails all around.

Then, from her remaining lower body, a monstrous creature resembling a giant earthworm burst out. Its flesh swelled and bubbled, and its entire body was covered in countless eyeballs.

Perhaps the sight was simply too shocking. Hina-chan let out an unintelligible scream and clung tightly to me, while Aoi-chan pressed her face against my arm and trembled.

Well, I could understand how they felt. From the advance warning, Id expected something along the lines of splatter horror, but seeing it right in front of me made the whole thing incredibly shocking. It was just too realistic.

Even the smell of blood was remarkably convincing. If I hadnt been told beforehand that it was Illusion Magic, I would have thought it was real. The worm monster was also incredibly lifelike, even down to its texture Wait, huh? Ive seen this worm monster somewhere before.

Isnt that one of Gluttony-sans dimensional beasts? Perhaps only the effects were created with Illusion Magic, while the monster itself was real? Alice had also been involved in creating this amusement park, so it wouldnt be surprising if Gluttony had lent them some dimensional beasts.

The dimensional beast circled around us a few times, then gave us a wink with one of its many eyes, perhaps as a greeting. When I smiled back at it, I could sense that it was happy.

Despite its frightening appearance, it was actually quite friendly. I remembered petting it when Id visited Gluttony-sans place, so perhaps it recognized me.

After that brief exchange, the dimensional beast climbed over the rubble and disappeared.

[You two, its gone now.]

[W- W- W- What was that!? Are all the scary things here like those alien monsters!? Were still at the very beginning, right!? I cant stop crying anymore]

[T- The visual impact was absolutely outrageous Combined with the smell of blood, it really felt like some kind of monster]

At the very first encounter, Hina-chan was already crying and practically on the verge of collapse. Aoi-chan, meanwhile, was holding up somewhat better than Hina-chan, but she was still trembling with a pale face.

Well, it seemed that the debate between Hina-chan and Aoi-chan had been completely settled. Aoi-chan was now just as frightened as Hina-chan though Hina-chan was so terrified that she hadnt even noticed Aoi-chans condition.

[Well, it certainly has a striking appearance, but if you look closely, it has a certain charm to it]

[It doesnt, okay!? What part of that appearance could possibly be charming!? Its completely a monster!!!]

[Just looking at it made me feel uneasy. It had such an unnatural appearance, like one of the monsters from the Cthulhu Mythos]

Id recognized the dimensional beast, so Id tried to offer a little reassurance, but they rejected my attempt with all their might. Well, I suppose dimensional beasts really did have some pretty extreme appearances.

Still, that worm-shaped dimensional beast was actually one of the more recognizable ones. There were others that looked like a chaotic jumble of body parts from all sorts of different creatures

[For now, shall we keep going?]

[Why does Kaito-senpai seem completely fine!? What happened to the mental debuff magic!?]

[Well, I havent really noticed any effects so far Maybe it isnt that powerful?]

Even after encountering that first performance, I hadnt felt any particular effects from the mental debuff. I thought the presentation was impressive, but I wasnt really scared Well, perhaps that was partly because I recognized the dimensional beast.

[Uuuuh, thats not fair. But youre so dependable D- Dont leave me, okay!]

[Its fine Actually, if you cling to me that tightly, theres no way I could leave even if I wanted to.]

[I- Im scared Could you support me a little more? Like, put your hand on my shoulder or around my waist.]

[E- Errr, like this?]

At any rate, it seemed she wanted to stay as close to me as possible so she could feel safe. Seeing how frightened Hina-chan was, to the point where she looked like she might faint at any moment, I decided to do as she asked.

Since she was already clinging to me from the side, it would be difficult to reach her shoulder, so I first slipped an arm around her waist and held her there Whoa, her waist is so slender

Shes usually full of energy, and her physical abilities are incredible thanks to her Body Strengthening Magic, but in reality, she had the petite, delicate build of a rather small girl. Unexpectedly becoming aware of that made my heart race.

[Are you okay, Aoi-chan?]

When I checked on Aoi-chan, she quietly asked if she could hold my hand, perhaps making sure Hina-chan wouldnt hear her. I nodded in agreement, and she firmly clasped my hand with both of hers.

? ? ? : [Incidentally, the dimensional beasts themselves have a weak mental debuff effect, or rather, an ability that makes anyone who sees them feel uneasy. Though, as usual, it has absolutely no effect on Kaito-san]

Serious-senpai : [So thats another way theyre similar to the Cthulhu Mythos huh That monster with absurd mental fortitude was calling them charming though]
