Chapter 1884: Endless Swarm! (Part 2)

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Luo Qingchen perked up immediately upon hearing the words!

There truly is no road completely blocked by the heavens!

However, the place where the Moonlight Orchids grew happened to be deep within a narrow cliffside crevice, surrounded by dense vines that faintly exuded a more sinister and dangerous aura, as if something was lurking there.

Worse still, the buzzing of the swarm behind them grew clearer again, indicating that they were closing in!

Danger lay ahead unknown, while terrifying pursuers pressed from behind.

Luo Qingchen’s eyes sharpened as he swiftly made a decision: "Wan’er, you and Xiaowan hide somewhere first, I’ll go for the Moonlight Orchids!"

"No way! It’s too dangerous!" Lin Wan’er immediately objected, "The aura there feels off, and the swarm is about to catch up!"

"There’s no time to hesitate!" Luo Qingchen spoke decisively, "Bai Ling’er can’t wait! Trust me!"

With that, before Lin Wan’er could say anything more, he dashed toward the crevice in the cliff!

Su Xiaowan stomped her feet anxiously, "Oh no! Senior Brother Luo, why are you being a hero all by yourself again!"

Lin Wan’er looked at Luo Qingchen disappearing behind the vines, then at the swarm drawing closer behind them, and finally gritted her teeth. She pulled Su Xiaowan quickly to hide behind a dense, peculiarly fragrant fern and set up a simple array plate to conceal their presence.

Luo Qingchen rushed into the crevice and was immediately hit by a chilling cold. The inside was darker and damper than the outside, with walls covered in slimy moss. The entwined vines grew thicker like lurking venomous snakes.

The Moonlight Orchids were not far ahead, exuding an alluring silvery glow.

But just as Luo Qingchen was about to approach the Moonlight Orchids, the ground beneath him suddenly trembled!

A pitch-black shadow shot out from the wall’s shadows like lightning, lunging straight at his face!

The shadow moved with incredible speed, carrying a stench and sinister aura; it was an eerie venomous snake, covered entirely with fine black scales, crowned by a single horn, and flicking a split tongue!

The triangle-shaped eyes of the snake flashed with an icy intent to kill, and an ominous dark light flowed on its horn, clearly indicating extreme venom!

Luo Qingchen’s pupils sharply contracted. At the critical moment, he arched back abruptly, narrowly evading the snake’s lethal lunge, almost grazing the tip of his nose. The stench turned his stomach.

Without waiting for the snake to attack again, Luo Qingchen flipped his wrist, and the Black Dragon Sword slashed upward, a residual Chaotic Sword Qi precisely targeting the snake’s seven-inch point!

Clang!

A crisp sound echoed like metal clashing with iron! The Black Dragon Sword was deflected by the snake’s hard scales, revealing its defense was as formidable as the previous giant insects!

In pain, the snake emitted a sharp hiss, its large black body wrapped up like a coiling lightning bolt, attempting to strangle Luo Qingchen! Simultaneously, its horn shone with a brilliant dark light, and a dark green venom sprayed out like an arrow, aiming directly at Luo Qingchen’s face!

Luo Qingchen was in a confined crevice with very limited space to dodge. He forcefully pushed off with his foot, his figure soaring upwards to barely evade the venom spray and channel Chaotic Power, punching precisely at the constricting snake body!

Boom!

A muffled sound came as Luo Qingchen felt like his fist punched reinforced leather, the rebound force stirring his already injured body. Yet, the snake merely paused slightly, the constriction far from halting!

"Damn it!" Luo Qingchen cursed inwardly. This snake wasn’t just highly defensive but surprisingly strong and alarmingly swift, with aggressive poison. In this tight space, it was practically his nemesis!

Even more pressing was the intensifying buzz of the swarm outside the crevice; their ominous chewing of mushrooms and rocks was hearable! His time was running out!

His gaze flashed to the nearby Moonlight Orchids, their gentle silvery glow a stark contrast to the vicious snake.

He had to end this quickly!

Luo Qingchen took a deep breath, abandoning the idea of breaking the snake’s defense with brute force. His eyes gleamed, shifting the approach of Chaotic Power from pure destruction to mimicking a more subtle, penetrating force!

"Chaos·Erosion!"

Wielding the sword once more, this time the Sword Light wasn’t a fierce strike but transformed into a gray, clinging energy flow, entwining the snake’s body!

Hiss—

The snake seemed greatly discomforted, shaking its body madly, attempting to shake off the gray energy flow. However, the Chaotic Erosion Power was relentless, infiltrating through scale crevices, beginning to erode its flesh and Energy Core!

The snake’s movements visibly slowed and grew more painful, the sheen of its scales swiftly dulling.

Now!

Catching the chance, Luo Qingchen darted closer, his form ghostly, directing the Black Dragon Sword not against the hard scales but the snake’s icy triangle eye!

Thud!

The sword tip pierced precisely!

The snake emitted a shrill, agonizing scream, its huge body thrashing violently, smashing surrounding stone walls and vines to pieces!

Luo Qingchen dared not pause, swiftly moving away before the snake completely lost its ability to resist, flashing to the Moonlight Orchids, carefully uprooting them, and quickly stowing them into the storage ring.

After finishing this, he turned around, suppressing the pain from a tail lash as he dashed out of the crevice!

Behind him, the dying horned snake still writhed frantically, its foul blood and dark green venom splattering, momentarily obstructing the swarm’s passage into the crevice.

Luo Qingchen emerged from the crevice, immediately spotting Su Xiaowan and Lin Wan’er anxiously peering from behind fern foliage.

"Senior Brother Luo! Are you okay?!" Su Xiaowan exclaimed in surprise upon seeing him, but worried at the snake blood covering him and his disheveled state.

"I got it! Let’s go!" Luo Qingchen scarcely had time for more words, as the swarm had bypassed the crevice entrance, a dark mass advancing like a tide, with the foremost dark-gold insects exuding a menacing aura.

Lin Wan’er supported Luo Qingchen as the three fled desperately.

Though unaware yet how to use the Moonlight Orchids for the best medicinal effect to save Bai Ling’er, at least they had a glimmer of hope. Luo Qingchen’s mind calmed slightly, dedicating most of his focus to escape and scouting routes.

This ethereal mushroom forest was like an enormous maze, filled with forks and indistinguishable scenery. The peculiar glow and energy waves from the gigantic luminous mushrooms severely interfered with his perception, making it difficult to discern the correct path.

The relentless swarm pursued ceaselessly, seemingly intimately familiar with the area, always closing the distance whenever they pulled away slightly, flanking unexpectedly.

"This won’t do, Senior Brother Luo! At this rate, we’ll be caught eventually!" Su Xiaowan panted, face pale, "These bugs are like sticky patches, impossible to shake off!"

Luo Qingchen frowned deeply, knowing this couldn’t continue. Their stamina and Spiritual Power were draining rapidly, while the swarm seemed endless.

Just then, the ground beneath his foot gave way!

"Careful!"

Luo Qingchen reacted swiftly, stopping abruptly and pulling Lin Wan’er and Su Xiaowan back.

The three narrowly halted at the brink of a massive, bottomless chasm!

Beneath the chasm lay complete darkness, only occasionally lit with ghost-fire-like ethereal blue lights, exuding an even more sinister and dangerous aura. A strong corrosive wind surged upward continuously.
