“Not good! It’s quicksand!” Luo Qingchen’s complexion changed as he immediately reacted, grabbing Lin Wan’er with his left hand and Su Xiaowan with his right. The Chaotic Power erupted instantly, trying to stabilize their posture and resist the terrifying suction! However, the quicksand’s range was immense, and the suction far exceeded their expectations! The gray-white sand grains flowed downward like living creatures, rapidly pulling them toward the vortex’s center! Even the seemingly harmless gray-green shrubs were quickly swallowed and crushed by the quicksand as if drawn into a grinder!
“Ah—! We’re falling!” Su Xiaowan screamed in terror, holding on to Luo Qingchen’s hand for dear life.
Lin Wan’er’s face was also ashen. She wanted to grab Bai Ling’er nearby, but she found the young girl, along with the shrubs she leaned against, being pulled into the vortex’s center by the quicksand even faster!
“Ling’er!” Lin Wan’er cried out in alarm.
“Hold onto me!” Luo Qingchen shouted, as half of his Chaotic Power surged out without reservation, and he stomped down fiercely!
“Chaos·Stabilize!”
An invisible wave spread out from him, attempting to forcibly suppress the violently flowing sand around them! However, this quicksand seemed to be governed by some peculiar Law, and the Chaotic Power could only slightly slow down the sinking, unable to stop it completely!
At the vortex’s center, the sinking speed accelerated, forming an unfathomably deep, dark hole! Bai Linger’s small figure, like a fallen leaf, was the first to be sucked into the darkness!
“Ling’er!” Lin Wan’er’s eyes almost popped out in rage, trying to break free from Luo Qingchen’s grip to rush over!
“Stay calm!” Luo Qingchen held onto her tightly, a hint of decisiveness flashing in his eyes, “We’ll go down together! It’s more dangerous if we split up!”
Before he could finish his sentence, the sand beneath their feet completely collapsed! A massive suction force overwhelmed them, and Luo Qingchen could no longer resist. He could only use the Chaotic Power to form a protective shield, as solid as possible, enveloping the three of them tightly, allowing the terrifying suction to pull them into the profound, unknown dark sand hole!
The world spun around them, leaving only the roaring sound of sand grains and wind howling in their ears, plunging them into complete darkness.
Their briefly found foothold turned out to be a more perilous trap! They were like stones rolling off a cliff, descending towards an unknown abyss. This eerie swamp seemed to be filled with lethal malice at every turn.
The endless dark descent felt like it lasted both forever and just a brief moment. The sensation of weightlessness and the suffocating friction of sand nearly drove them mad. Luo Qingchen struggled to maintain the Chaotic Shield, its gray light flickering like a candle in the wind, defending against the pressing sands and some unknown energy erosion from all sides. He could sense that the sand hole was not straight down but had a twisted curve, like a spiral slide leading deep underground.
“Cough, cough… Brother Luo… are we… are we going to die?” Su Xiaowan’s voice, tinged with sobs, echoed within the cramped shield, filled with fear and despair. The darkness and the unknown descent were more terrifying than facing any monstrous creature.
Lin Wan’er bit her lip tightly, remaining silent, but her grip on Luo Qingchen’s arm was so forceful that her knuckles turned white. Her heart was full of worry for Bai Ling’er, who had gone down first; she had no idea what had happened to her now.
“Not yet… hang on!” Luo Qingchen’s voice was somewhat hoarse, the effort of maintaining the shield taking a heavy toll on his not-yet-fully-recovered Chaotic Power, veins bulging on his forehead. He could feel the suction below weakening, while a cold, damp scent, rich with dust and some decaying odor, wafted up from below.
Finally, with a dull thud!
The Chaotic Shield crashed heavily onto a hard surface, the violent impact instantly filling the shield with cracks, groaning under the strain. Following that, more sand poured down like a waterfall, burying them.
“Cough, cough, cough!”
Luo Qingchen immediately shook off the sand on his body and withdrew the precarious shield. The light was extremely dim but no longer pitch-black like in the sand hole. He quickly surveyed the surroundings as his Divine Sense spread out.
They seemed to have fallen into a vast underground chamber. Beneath their feet was a thick layer of gray-white sand that had collapsed from above. Under the sand, faintly visible was a flat surface paved with enormous dark green stone bricks. The air was thick with dust and an indescribable ancient aura, cold and deathly still.
“Ling’er!” Lin Wan’er struggled to her feet, desperately searching for Bai Linger’s figure.
“Over there!” Luo Qingchen pointed to a spot not far away, where a small figure lay half-buried in the sand, motionless.
Lin Wan’er rushed over, clumsily digging Bai Ling’er out of the sand. The young girl was covered in dust, her face pale, her eyes still tightly closed. But Lin Wan’er checked her breath and pulse, finally sighing in relief: “Fortunately… she’s fine, just unconscious.” She gently wiped the sand from Bai Ling’er’s face, holding her tightly in her arms.
Su Xiaowan also scrambled over, looking at the dim and vast underground space, asking in a small voice, “What… what is this place? How deep underground have we fallen?”
Luo Qingchen did not answer, his brows furrowed tightly, his gaze cautiously scanning the surroundings. This underground chamber was exceptionally expansive, with no end in sight. The dim light seemed to come from strange Crystal Stones embedded in the high ceiling, emitting a faint, ghostly glow like dim stars.
