After walking for about an hour, a gigantic circular crater appeared on the horizon ahead, like a grim scar on the earth. This was the legendary Meteorite Pit.Without getting close, one could already feel the strong star storm roaring out from within the pit, carrying a heart-palpitating aura of destruction. Scattered around the edge of the pit were numerous bizarre and charred rocks, some of which still faintly glimmered with starlight, clearly remnants of the stars that fell years ago.
"This is the Meteorite Pit." Luo Qingchen gazed at the bottomless giant pit, a trace of solemnity flashing in his eyes. The chaotic energy here was even stronger than he imagined.
The three carefully searched along the edge of the pit for a path to enter. The Meteorite Pit was huge, not all areas were suitable to enter, as the star storms in some places could tear apart the Protective Gang Qi of Golden Core cultivators.
From time to time, they could see some other cultivators in ones and twos, either searching the pit’s edge or cautiously exploring inside the pit. Most of these people looked vigilant, keeping their distance from each other. In such a place, besides facing the dangers of the environment, one also had to beware of other cultivators’ treachery.
Luo Qingchen spread out his Divine Sense, finding that in this chaotic energy field, his Divine Sense was greatly suppressed, its probing range reduced to less than a third of usual. However, he keenly sensed that the few pieces of star map fragments he had were slightly heating up, seemingly resonating with some aura here.
"It seems there really might be something we need here." Luo Qingchen’s heart stirred.
They chose a relatively gentle slope and began to delve into the Meteorite Pit. The further they went inside, the more intense the chaotic Star Force became, and even silver arcs of electricity danced visibly in the air. On the ground, some peculiar plants began to appear, their whole bodies metallic in color, with leaves as sharp as blades, evidently mutant varieties adapted to the harsh environment here.
"Everyone be careful, the leaves of these ’Star Iron Grass’ are very sharp, don’t touch them lightly." Luo Qingchen reminded.
Su Xiaowan curiously observed the strange plants: "Wow, these grasses look so weird, can you eat them?"
Luo Qingchen laughed wryly: "These things contain chaotic Star Force, eating them recklessly would only lead to death by explosion."
Just then, energy fluctuations and the roar of demonic beasts came from not far ahead.
"Something’s happening!" Luo Qingchen signaled the two to be on guard.
They quietly approached, only to see behind a jagged rock formation, three Foundation Establishment-stage cultivators were besieging a peculiar demonic beast the size of a small calf, its body covered in blue crystalline scales. The beast had a single horn on its head, with lightning flickering from the horn, and it continually spewed balls of light containing Star Force from its mouth, with considerable might.
"It’s a Star Crystal Beast!" Lin Wan’er recognized the beast’s origin, "This kind of demonic beast feeds on absorbing Star Force, and its Star Core is an excellent material for crafting star-attributed Magical Treasures and Elixirs."
The three cultivators worked seamlessly, evidently a team, but the Star Crystal Beast was also exceptionally fierce, fighting them to a standstill.
Luo Qingchen and his companions didn’t advance, instead watching quietly from a distance. Being newcomers, they didn’t want to be drawn into a conflict without cause.
After a fierce battle, the Star Crystal Beast was eventually outnumbered, and a cultivator seized an opportunity to pierce its throat with a sword, causing it to fall to the ground with a mournful cry.
The three cultivators were overjoyed, just about to collect their spoils when a sudden mutation occurred!
A sharp sound of something piercing the air came from behind them, a dark beam as fast as lightning aimed straight at the back of the sword-wielding cultivator!
"Watch out!" the companion shouted in alarm, but it was too late.
With a thud!
The dark beam penetrated the cultivator’s Protective Spirit Light and entered his body. He let out a miserable scream as his body turned black rapidly, foam bubbling from his mouth, evidently poisoned.
"Who is it?!" The two surviving cultivators, shocked and angry, quickly guarded their injured comrade, looking warily in the direction from which the dark beam came.
From behind a large boulder emerged three masked cultivators dressed in black, the leader fiddling with a dark green crossbow, its arrow glimmering with eerie venomous light.
"Cackling... Thanks to the three of you for dealing with this beast for us, we’ll gladly accept this Star Core." The leader of the black-clad group smirked sinisterly.
"Scorpion Bandits! It’s you guys!" The surviving two cultivators recognized them, their faces changed drastically. The Scorpion Bandits were a notorious bandit gang near the Meteorite Pit, notorious for picking off lone or weak cultivators.
"So you have some eyesight," the black-clad leader sneered, "Be smart, leave your Storage Bags, and scram! Otherwise, this will be your fate!"
The two cultivators were both angry and afraid, but their companion was already poisoned and critical, and in the face of a larger group, they knew they were no match. Suppressing their anger, they threw down their Storage Bags and fled, supporting their poisoned companion.
The three Scorpion Bandits triumphantly collected the Storage Bags and the corpse of the Star Crystal Beast, about to leave when they inadvertently glanced at Luo Qingchen’s trio watching from not far away.
"Hmm? There are three more!" The leader’s eyes glinted with greed, "They look like tenderlings, don’t seem like regular visitors to the Meteorite Pit, they’re sure to be carrying fine goods! Let’s deal with them!"
With his order, the three Scorpion Bandits charged towards Luo Qingchen’s trio with sinister smiles.
Su Xiaowan nervously tugged at Luo Qingchen’s sleeve, "Brother Luo, they’re coming over!"
Luo Qingchen’s face remained calm, but his eyes flickered with cold killing intent. He initially didn’t want trouble, but since these people came seeking it, he wouldn’t be courteous.
"Seeking death!" Luo Qingchen snorted coldly, and before the opponents could approach, he shot forward like a cannonball! The Black Dragon Sword was already in his hand without anyone knowing, its blade swirling with chaotic flow, murderous intent raging!
"Chaos Sword Technique · Sky Splitting!"
A concentrated gray Sword Light, carrying the momentum to tear through everything, swept out!
The three Scorpion Bandits evidently did not expect Luo Qingchen to be so resolutely fierce, nor did they anticipate his terrifying power! The leader only had time to let out a scream of shock before being split in half by the Sword Light! Blood and viscera scattered everywhere!
The other two Scorpion Bandits were scared out of their wits and turned to flee.
Lin Wan’er was already poised to strike, letting out a tender shout, the Heavenly Origin Sword Technique unfolding, sealing off their escape with several sharp blue Sword Qi.
Thud! Thud!
Two heads flew into the air, and two headless bodies fell to the ground.
In an instant, the three ferocious Scorpion Bandits were all executed!
Su Xiaowan watched with mouth agape, finally saying, "Brother Luo, Sister Wan’er, you... you are so incredible!"
Luo Qingchen sheathed his sword, his expression indifferent: "Against such insignificant thieves, there’s no need to hold back." He went forward and searched the three bandits’ Storage Bags, which contained some Spirit Stones and Elixirs, as well as a few crystalline stones emitting stardust glow, of average quality but better than nothing.
Having dealt with these uninvited guests, the three continued deeper into the Meteorite Pit. With the encounter earlier, they were even more cautious.
The deeper they went, the harsher the environment became. Star storms occasionally swept through, producing eerie howls, and the ground became rugged and uneven, dotted with large and small meteorite craters.
As they crossed a ridge filled with charred crystal stones, the star map fragments in Luo Qingchen’s possession suddenly vibrated intensely, emitting scorching heat!
"Hmm?" Luo Qingchen’s heart tightened, quickly taking out the assembled Star Disc. The once dim runes on the disc now shone brightly, subtly pointing towards a deep ravine below the ridge.
"Brother Luo, what is it..." Lin Wan’er and Su Xiaowan also noticed the unusual state of the Star Disc.
