~3rd Person Perspective~
“A Wyvern? That’s awfully big for one…” (Amy)
She had a bad feeling. Amy stared at the flying object.
It was approaching us rapidly. It was also at an unusual speed.
When the millet-sized object became as big as a fingernail, Amie finally realized what it truly was.
“That can’t be… a Dragon!?” (Amy)
The ritual magic she was about to perform had completely flown out of her mind.
“After the end of the God’s War Era, the dragons should have cut off all contact with humans. Why is a dragon here!?” (Amy)
No way is it here to destroy our plan. But dragons do not care about humans at all. Even if a city is about to be destroyed, it is unlikely to attract the creature’s interest.
Then why?
She does not know at all.
A high-pitched sound reached Amy’s stunned ears. It sounded like a woman’s scream, or perhaps the sound of a dragon’s wings cutting through the wind.
As Amy watched, the dragon suddenly stopped at a spot far away from Finlis. Then two dots began to fall from its body.
“Hmm—?” (Amy)
With mana coating her eyes, she activates a [Far Sight] spell.
The spell launched her vision across the distance magnifying the two dots.
“Impossible…” (Amy)
A groan leaked from Amy’s throat when she realized the true nature of the two dots.
The identities of the two dots that fell from the dragon were the two people who should be sleeping in the open at the foot of Mount Rheitis—Toru and Esther.
Amy had estimated that it would take at least three days for them to return home. It was completely unexpected that they would wind up there for a day.
But who could be blamed for Amy’s failure to see through this?
It is unusual to shorten a travel distance that would normally take three days by one day by using a dragon. Even if someone gathered all the knowledgeable people of mankind, no one would have expected such a result.
If she allowed such an assumption, she will even have to consider the possibility that the world might be destroyed tomorrow. It is too absurd.
“No way, did they really befriend a dragon?” (Amy)
A cold sweat trickled down Amy’s temples.
The technique she prepared is extremely incompatible with dragons. If they have to deal with dragons as well, it would be better to abandon the plan.
Amy’s fears were dispelled when she saw the dragon turning back around.
Apparently, the dragon was not on their side.
“…so they just used the dragon like a carriage?” (Amy)
It’s hard to believe. But it saved her from having to reschedule. Amy was relieved to know that the technique that was currently on standby would not be in vain.
However, Toru has returned to Finlis. She had assumed it just in case, but she didn’t believe that he would really come back.
“If you keep doing things that are out of the ordinary, I’ll lose confidence in myself.” (Amy)
Amy sighed tiredly. When Phillip’s plan was defeated, Amy thought he was incompetent. If he had acted more carefully, he would not have been spotted by Toru.
But when it was her turn, she realized just how bizarre Toru was.
He was a monster underneath that human skin.
His mere movement would turn the whole situation upside down.
So, this time, she made a plan that would work no matter how things turned out.
Fortunately, she still had some of the souls she had collected in the capital. If she used them to perform a Divine Art, no matter what kind of creature it was, it would be helpless against it.
“Clear skies and no clouds today. (Amy)
She held the vessel of souls in standby mode and mumbled quietly.
“When the curtain of night falls, a devil will appear.” (Amy)
