Chapter 5166: Reign II

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

The symphony was grand!

The symphony was imperious in the specific manner of music that had been written to announce the arrival of a being whose standing deserved announcement!

The drums became more frequent as the symphony progressed.

The horns became more glorious, their sustained notes climbing into higher harmonies that carried the building tension of a composition approaching its crescendo!

The symphony built.

Until...

BOOM!

The cocoon broke apart in a blinding brilliance that saturated every direction.

Tendrils and rivers of multicolored Infiniforce stretched outward from the point of breaking in vast expanding arcs, each tendril carrying its own unique combination of the colors that had composed the cocoon, each river pulsing with the heartbeat cadence of the symphony that had just concluded.

The gold-saturated canopy Elzyana and Aurelius had painted across the sky of THE Wyld was overwritten entirely in the moment of the breaking, the multicolored Infiniforce claiming every inch of the sky that the golden wrath had previously claimed, the transition complete within the single extended moment of the cocoon’s rupture.

When Emotive and Anaximander looked up at the point where the cocoon had been, they observed what had emerged from it.

A figure that resembled the Noah they knew.

The figure resembled Noah in the sense that a refined edition of a document resembles the earlier draft from which it was developed.

The general shape was the same. The proportions were the same. The identifiable features that had composed Noah across his prior manifestations were still present. However, every aspect of him had been polished, intensified, elevated into configurations that the earlier Noah had not possessed.

His entire body was shrouded in a multicolored crystalline brilliance of Infinity, the crystalline layer not applied to him but emerging from him, as though his skin had become a lens through which the full spectrum of his Infiniforce could be observed in its refined state. The crystalline brilliance pulsed gently with the residual rhythm of the symphony, each pulse carrying the slow patient cadence of a heartbeat that had settled into its new steady operation.

Dense rivers of Infinity twirled around his body in continuous motion, forming multiple lemniscate symbols with their traced paths, each lemniscate a separate flowing braid of Infiniforce that looped around a different portion of his body.

One lemniscate wrapped around his chest and back. Another wrapped around his waist and hips. A third wrapped around his shoulders and neck. A fourth wrapped around his head, framing his features in a continuous braid of multicolored light that moved in slow patient rotation.

His hair radiated its multicolored light more intensely than it had before, the strands themselves appearing to be composed of layered Infiniforce rather than ordinary hair, their movements following their own independent currents regardless of the ambient air around him.

His skin carried the internal golden illumination that had characterized his Hadean physiology, but the illumination now ran through layered patterns that suggested deeper architecture beneath the surface, the outlines of his Hadean organs visible as soft glows through the translucent quality his flesh had taken on during the developmental transition.

His posture had straightened into something imperious. Not arrogant, precisely, because arrogance implied a relationship to beings who might challenge the imperiousness, and Noah’s new posture did not seem to acknowledge the possibility of challenge as a relevant category.

He simply stood at the center of his surrounding Infiniforce with the casual grandeur of a being whose position in the arrangement of existence had just been clarified into something that required no defense.

Emotive began to shake with despair as she observed him.

Because... she could not feel anything!

She could not feel any emotion whatsoever from her Fixation, as though emotions did not exist in him, as though the entire emotional substrate that she had been reading Noah through across every prior moment of their acquaintance had been sealed behind a layer her siphoning could not penetrate!

She reached outward with every emotional sense she possessed and received nothing in return. No Pride. No amusement. No cold calculation. No tenderness toward those beneath him. No cruelty!

Nothing. The space where his emotional signature should have been was simply empty in a manner that suggested either that his emotions had been transcended entirely or that they had been folded into the weavings of his new configuration so completely that external perception could no longer distinguish them from the ambient Infiniforce surrounding his body.

She looked at him closely.

She observed that his eyes had become glazed crystalline blue with the internal light of Infinity, and within the crystalline blue of each eye, small lemniscate symbols had replaced his pupils. The symbols rotated slowly within the blue of his irises, their infinite loops tracing their continuous figure-eight patterns in patient synchronized motion, and the sight of those eyes was unlike anything Emotive had witnessed in any being across any of her eons.

He raised his hand to look at himself.

The hand moved with the deliberate grace of a being becoming acquainted with its new configuration, examining the crystalline brilliance of his own skin, observing the lemniscate rivers that flowed around his forearm, taking in the refined shape of his transformed fingers.

He turned his hand slowly in the air before him, considering it from multiple angles, as though cataloguing what the developmental phenomenon had produced.

And then, without ceremony, he tapped his finger outward.

A boundless flash of Infinity bloomed silently and invisibly from the tap, spreading outward from his finger in every direction. The Infinity did not produce sound. It did not produce visible light at its point of origin!

It simply spread fully from this point...towards all of Observable Existence!

And then...

His figure warped away and disappeared.

He did not look toward Emotive before departing. He did not look toward Anaximander. He did not look at the remains of the mountain or the remnants of the corpses or the fractured sky or any other feature of the terrain.

He simply warped, and then he was no longer present at the location the cocoon had emerged from, and the space where his figure had stood held only the residual rivers of his Infiniforce continuing their outward spread across the upper atmosphere of THE Wyld.

Emotive crumbled to the ground at the base of the mountain with an expression of despair crossing her features in a single slow wave.

Because she truly could not sense any emotion of her Fixation. Because all she had observed in him during the brief moment of his emergence was...boundless Infinity.

All she observed was Infinity.

All she could observe, when she reached outward toward the place his emotional substrate had occupied, was Infinity.

Infinity.

The trumpets ceased.

The drums concluded their rolling patterns.

The symphony that had accompanied Noah’s developmental transition dissolved, and an immense silence reigned across the regions where the music had played.

Emotive remained on the ground, her hands flat against the surface beside her, tears falling from her eyes.

She felt an unfathomable sense of loss.

Not the loss of a being who had died. The being was still present. The loss she felt was something smaller and more private than mortality. It was the loss of the specific Fixation she had been able to read, the being whose emotional architecture burned with boundless emotions.

That being was no longer available to her.

In his place stood something else.

The silence continued.

The Infiniforce above her continued its patient spread across the sky, imperious, and filled with glorious purpose.
