Chapter 5542: THE Mortal Coil! III

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Noah’s eyes gleamed as the golden tide poured into his reserves.

He was farming an entire army by standing in front of it as a man!

And as Hvitrmarr’s claws touched the ground, and the vast White Steed settled her weight onto the scorched earth of THE Ymnaros, Noah stepped forward on her back and looked down at the horrified army, and he spoke, calm and grand.

"For the first time in your entire existence," he said, "all of you are going to get a feel for what it means to be human."

"..."

"No power. No authority. Not for anybody here." His gaze swept them. "Every one of us, absolutely the same, at the exact same baseline."

He then he glanced, almost kindly, toward the two craters.

"For you two, it’s rather unfortunate. You were flying." His voice stayed even. "Falling from a height like that as a human does a great deal of damage. You’ve broken a lot of bones. You very likely have internal bleeding right now, and you have never once in your lives had to know what that is."

And Noah looked at the two titanic figures wailing in their craters, and let everyone watch them!

They were experiencing what it meant to be human, and it was horrifying.

Both of them wept, openly, helplessly, tears and snot running down enormous faces as they sobbed and wailed from a pain so far past anything in their experience that their minds had nowhere to put it. Beings that had spent ages as apex existences, that had split their enemies open and reanimated the dead for sport, reduced to sobbing humans in the dirt because a nerve was doing the job a nerve does!

And neither of them could make it stop, and neither of them understood that it would not simply stop the way everything unpleasant had always stopped for them before.

And every being in the garden watched, in horrified silence, as though the two were being held up as examples.

And their conditions were getting worse.

One of them, Noah saw now, had come down wrong. When it had first lifted off the terraces to rise, its own ascent had shoved a jagged shelf of rock up out of the broken ground, and when the power died and it fell, it had come down onto that shelf neck-first, and the stone had gone into the side of its throat, and now, as a human, it was bleeding from the neck in long steady pulses that darkened the scorched earth around its head.

The garden watched it bleed.

The wailing from that one grew weaker.

The screams thinned into whimpers, and the whimpers into a wet shallow breathing, and the enormous body that had thrashed in its crater began to move less, and then less, and then only its chest, and then the pulses from its throat slowed to match, and across a garden full of beings that had never watched anything of their own kind die of something as small and stupid as a rock, an Infinite True Lifeform cried quieter and quieter until it stopped, and lay still!

The surviving titan, broken in its own crater, turned its weeping face and watched its companion go still, and the terror that came over its features then was a wholly new thing in that ancient face, because it had finally understood that the pain it was in was not a punishment that would end but a process that was going somewhere, and that the somewhere was where the other one had just gone.

Death!

Noah stepped down off Hvitrmarr and walked toward it.

He walked grandly across the ruined gold, a small figure crossing a giant’s graveyard, and he looked up at the surviving True Lifeform with an expression that was almost gentle, and he explained to it what was happening.

"A human body holds about five liters of blood. You can lose a little and feel nothing. Lose about a third of it, and the body starts to panic, the heart races trying to move what isn’t there, everything goes cold from the outside in as the body gives up its edges to protect its center." He nodded toward the still corpse.

"Your friend lost it out of the neck, which is fast. Past about half, the center can’t be protected either, and the whole thing simply shuts down, one system at a time, while you stay awake for most of it."

He let the silence hold.

"The pain you’re feeling right now, the pain that’s so big you can’t think around it, a human feels a version of that from a broken arm. One arm. You have broken most of what you have, and you’re bleeding on the inside where nothing can reach it, and your body is going to spend the next while shutting its own doors one by one while you feel every single one close." His voice did not rise.

"That’s what you are, underneath. That’s what all of you always were, underneath. This is... the mortal coil."

HUUM!

And around him, the Infinite Lifeforms of the host moved backwards!

They stepped away from him, thousands of them, this small unarmed human walking through their ruined battlefield describing death like a thing he had studied!

But....a certain Infinite True Lifeform was not finished.

WAA!

Ashkavaal moved.

She jumped from where she stood at the base of the obelisk and crossed the whole ruined distance in a single human leap of a giant’s body, and she came down in front of Noah and rose to her full height.

She was titanic, more than five times the height of the man standing in front of her, a mountain in the shape of a woman even with every river of Infinity dimmed off her skin, and she looked down at him with her stained hands and her somber cold face.

"You said we are all human here." Her voice came low and level. "For you to lay a domain like this over reality with your own Pantheon, you must be bound by it too. That is how it works. That is how it always works."

"..."

"So. We may all be humans here." Her dimmed eyes fixed on the small figure below her. "But we are not all equal. You are still a bug compared to me. A human bug in front of a human mountain." Her stained fingers curled. "Let me give you a taste of your own medicine."

...!

A titanic Infinite Lifeform stripped of every shred of her power, and still a giant, still a mountain of a body that could close one hand around Noah entirely, glaring down at THE True Human Emperor who stood barely a fraction of her size in the ruined gold!

And Noah, small, human, smiled coldly.

Behind him, larger than the Infinite Lifeforms and larger than the corpses, THE White Steed did not move a single muscle as she stared down at Ashkavaal over the top of Noah’s head, one gold eye fixed on the giant who had just made a decision.

In a domain where all of existence had been brought down to the human condition, to the mortal...

Someone wanted to step on THE True Human Emperor?!
