Chapter 5598: Defiance! III

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

The beam struck the shroud, and the shroud ate it screaming!

And then the Sovereign went to work, and Noah watched a being fight in a way he had never seen.

Skallagrim did not draw a weapon, because his body was the weapon! He flowed up the colossus’s descending arm with gliding, unhurried steps, and his movements were graceful in the way of an art refined across lifetimes, elbows and knees and turning shins, each strike thrown from the hips with his whole frame behind it!

A rising knee met the colossus’s forearm and the forearm caved, plates of woven loomlight bursting apart, because every limb of him now carried terrifying bursts of pure PONDUS and VERITAS, weight and truth detonating together at every point of contact!

CRACK!

A smashinf elbow took the Smiter across its chest-plates and a canyon of white weave shattered inward! He slipped a sweeping counter-blow with a small tilt of his head, stepped inside it, seized the colossus’s wrist in a clinch of transformed existence, and drove three knees into its elbow joint in a fluid burst that severed the entire arm into dissolving light!

And then he did the profane thing.

He reached out with his remade existence... and commanded THE Argent Loom itself!

The white rivers still pouring into the Smiter shuddered, and bent, and answered him, loomlight peeling off the construct and braiding into his strikes, white swirling into his crimson gold until every elbow and shin arc carried both authorities at once, the storm’s own substance turned against the storm!

The battle was heavy, and it was brutal, and it was beautiful! The Smiter rebuilt its arm and he tore it off again at the shoulder! It flared its head-slit for a second beam and his shroud of unpaid deaths swallowed the light while his knee came up through its chin, snapping the faceless head backward in a spray of dissolving weave!

His hands and feet were like hammers as they smashed out, each one very likely capable of decimating an entire Observable Existence!

Blow after graceful, merciless blow, the manifestation of the Loom’s rage came apart, plates dimming, cables unraveling, until at last, beneath one final descending elbow that carried the full weight of a heavy PONDUS...

The Loomwrought Smiter burst apart into fading white motes across the dark!

"..."

Silence fell over the between-space.

And Jarl Skallagrim floated there amid the dissolving remnants of a smiting, his shroud settling back into his frame, crimson gold light rolling off his shoulders in slow waves, and he turned, and gazed at Noah’s clones silently for a few seconds, saying nothing at all.

Then he looked down at his own hands. At his arms. At the body that had just unmade the wrath of an authority older than frameworks.

And as he did, Noah gazed at this being, and saw his status panel!

STATUS PANEL: JARL SKALLAGRIM- BLOOD SOVEREIGN, DESCENDANT UNBOUND

VERITAS: 20

PROVENANCE: 0

POTENTIA: 20

PONDUS: 20

Note: as the first BLOOD SOVEREIGN, a unique capability is budding within this existence. It has not yet finished forming.

...!

Twenty! Twenty across every attribute, a perfect score on every measure his system knew how to take, floating in front of him wearing a shroud of unpaid deaths!

HUUM!

A tremendous act of giving has occurred. Salvation, given to the dying. A lineage, given back to its bearer. A Sovereign, given to existence.

All of it has been further pooled into the immensity generating from THE Tide That Owes Nothing. The preservation continues, and what is being prepared within the Tide has grown past all precedent.

And across from the prompts, the immense Sovereign finally spoke, and his deep voice boomed out over the dark, cracking under the weight of what it carried.

"I am... cured. I have... my salvation!"

And at this moment, Noah knew it was true in the deepest sense there was, because he could not sense the end of Skallagrim’s lifeline anymore! The drafted conclusion was gone from the written line! The months were gone!

He would not die!

Skallagrim looked toward Noah’s clones with many complex emotions moving through his crimson gold seas, gratitude and awe and confusion all turning together, and when he spoke again, his voice had gone quiet.

"You have given me my salvation. And I do not wish to sound ungrateful. But..." His hand rose slowly to his own chest.

"Why is it that all parts of my Existence... naturally feel an inclination of reverence toward you? What... have you done to me?"

...!

Noah looked back at him calmly across the settling dark, nine crowns of blood turning slowly, and answered without hurry.

"I edited your line. I removed the workings of THE Sleepless Fiend from your existence, clause by clause, and I replaced them with my weavings. The sentence that wrote you no longer runs back to him. It runs back...to me."

BOOM!

His voice did not rise at all as his own existence could feel a sense of inner peace and wonder even he couldnt envision.

Should he feel this way when he had just done something that went against the weavings of a terrifying type of Lifeform?

He expected to feel a sense of fear or worry right after, wondering if the skies would crack and if everything would fall apart!

But truly, he felt a sense of...exhilaration as if he wanted to do even more of this!

He did not know if it wss due to the immense gains of Provenance Essence or what...but he found it thrilling to go against the actions of Those Who Remain!

He continued.

"So if you were a Descendant of One of Those Who Remain before... you are now my Descendant...a Descendant of THE True Human Emperor!"

HUUM!

Immense silence crashed down over the between-space!

The newborn Sovereign stared at the clones with his crimson gold seas gone perfectly still, the words settling into him one at a time, and below them both, a certain little steed was trembling harder than it had trembled through the entire storm, shaking as if its whole Existence was fearful just to be HEARING such profane words spoken aloud into a world where Those Who Remain existed!

Who the fuck did this guy think he was?!
