"Is it worth all this trouble for a small power like our clan?" Wu Ming asked."A new age is coming, and everybody is competing for luck to increase their chances of becoming a Transcendent Faction," Wang Wei calmly explained. "People with Saint Potential are rare and few in between. Although there is no guarantee that Wu Jing will even succeed, he is still worth investing in."
Just having an idea is not enough to be labelled as Saint Potential. The idea must be feasible, logical, and fit its owner. In Wu Jing’s case, the Quantum Arrays are perfectly suited for his Totem Dao, and Wang Wei already knows that the concept of using the Quantum Realm to achieve Transcendence was feasible.
"I need to think about this before I decide," Wu Ming said.
"No problem," Wang Wei nodded. "But I should warn you. In less than 2000 yuan epoch, the Saint is about to leave our timeline. Be careful."
"Is this news reliable?" Wu Ming instantly asked with a serious expression. "No, you wouldn’t say it if it wasn’t so."
"Don’t spread it out," Wang Wei warned.
"I understand, but can you give me a bit more information?"
"Just know she will leave for a while, along with a fairly decent number of the world’s Primals."
"That is terrible news," Wu Ming commented.
The two talked for a few more minutes, but Wang Wei noticed that Wu Ming and Wu Jing were distracted, so they didn’t keep them for long. As soon as the conversation ended, the two left the court and returned to the Wu Clan. As they were alone, Wu Ming asked:
"What do you think?"
"While it would be a great opportunity to join a power such as the Dao Opening Sect, it might be a disaster for our Wu Clan," Wu Jing analyzed. "Given how weak we are, we will probably suffer at the hands of the other families. Our only chance would be to constantly rely on Lord Fate Dominator’s power until I become a Saint, but if I fail..."
Wu Jing did not comment. He understood the intense political competition in a faction as large and powerful as the Dao Opening Sect. "Is it possible for us to recreate that tiny array ourselves?"
Wu Jing smiled wryly: "Ancestor, you’re an Array Master yourself. What do you think?"
An idea does not directly convert into a product. After learning about the Invisible Plague, the Wu Clan, and many others’ attempts to recreate this weapon. Unfortunately, not a single one of the Overlords has yet to succeed, let alone a small lineage as the Wu Clan.
"Our clan is too young, making it impossible to compete for the destiny of the upcoming age," Wu Ming commented. "It may be in our best interest to join a powerful faction — especially with the Origin Rune Palace eying us with great malice. However, we need certain guarantees to protect ourselves after joining."
"The value of Primals is slowly diminishing, but if I can become one as soon as possible, we should have some power even in the Dao Opening Sect."
"Good. In that case, we will send more of the clan into the court to acquire merit to accelerate your cultivation." Wu Ming decided.
"What should we do about the palace?"
Wu Ming was silent. The current peace and order were due to the Saint’s overwhelming power. Once she disappears, chaos will spread far and wide. Although this chaos might be controlled since the Saint will eventually return, some people might not care and plan for their escape beforehand.
"We can’t sit around and expect these people to be too scared to act," Wu Ming analyzed. "I will use our clan’s [Formation Dao Destiny] to find a place we can hide. The Grand Sect Alliance is currently rife with internal trouble, so the Origin Rune Palace should not be able to look for us for too long."
"That might be our only way," Wu Jing sighed deeply. "It’s a shame since the chaos is a good opportunity."
"It can still be, but we must ensure our clan’s survival first."
...
Wang Wei slowly entered the War Room.
"You’re here? Good, I was just about to call you," Qiyuan said. Wang Wei glanced at him. With one glance, he could tell this was the original body, and more importantly, his aura had subtly changed.
"Congratulations."
"Thanks," Qiyuan nodded. Although the Transcendent Foundation was only a small step toward Sainthood, it was still a significant one. "And likewise," Qiyuan added as he felt Wang Wei’s aura.
"What do you need me for?" Wang Wei asked as he observed the situation. The Divine War Post was almost finished building a floating military base next to the world’s barrier. Meanwhile, a large army was assaulting them, drastically slowing down the process.
"You’ve already deployed the Military Cities?" Wang Wei asked as he watched these cities flying in the sky next to the military base, bombarding them with attacks. Such an invention was his contribution to the war preparation. Inspired by Chen Tong’s city during the final battle, the concept of floating cities in magic novels, and using knowledge about God’s Divine Kingdom, he constructed these floating military cities with enormous power. However, the true power of these cities was that they allowed Peak Paragons to achieve D or C-Class Primal power by becoming the city’s mayor.
"The situation has reached a critical point," Qiyuan calmly explained. He had no choice but to deploy the cities, or their military would have long been wiped out. Maitreya was wise to force everybody to work together. Otherwise, with their previous attitude regarding this war, the Divine War Post would have already conquered a quarter of the world by now.
"What’s their objective? It can’t really be just piercing through the Hong System and contacting their pawns in other worlds?" Wang Wei asked.
"No, this is most likely a distraction," Qiyuan revealed.
"Then, what’s their real target?"
"So far, I’ve calculated three possibilities: the History Lock, the court, and the Source Qi Space."
"The History Lock blocks their source of information; the destabilization of the court would cause chaos in the world’s laws and order, maybe even injuring Heavenly Dao; the Source Qi Space can be used as a means to escape the world, but more importantly, they could unleash that horror," Wang Wei analyzed. From the information the Time Cardinal handed to him, he knew the Infinite Divine Court had a terrifying weapon that could corrupt all the Qi/energy entering a world from the Source Qi Space.
Once unleashed, no one will be able to cultivate, and even absorbing the Qi will have devastating consequences. If these people succeed with this plan, they will cripple the Eternal Ascension World, and by the time they find a solution, they will likely have conquered most of the world.
"What do you need me to do?"
"I have already made preparations for the court and Source Qi Space, but I’m having trouble with the lock," Qiyuan explained. "I’ve deduced countless viable possibilities on how they could try to break it, but there are too many of them; I don’t have the manpower to defend against every single one. So, I need you to use divination to pinpoint their target."
"That shouldn’t be an issue," Wang Wei nodded. Qiyuan has done most of the work, and he only needs to point him in the right direction, making divination easier. More importantly, Wang Wei was now an official S-Class Primal, which had drastically increased most of his abilities.
"This is the information you need."
Wang Wei waved his hand to receive the talisman and absorbed the information inside. There were indeed many possible ways to try to break the History Lock, and the most viable ones are the "infected" individuals. Even now, the court and even Maitreya have failed to discover the people who have reached the third stage of infection. As long as the Divine War Post uses these people to analyze the History Lock, there is a high chance they can find a solution.
Wang Wei wasted no more time and headed toward the Divination Department. Although he had many things to say to Qiyuan, now was not the time. As always, he received a warm welcome. These people in that department wanted nothing more than for Wang Wei to join them or even become their boss. They were facing a formidable enemy that almost rendered them useless, and only when this boss showed up did they have an opportunity to raise their heads. Not to mention the boss also controlled the resource distribution of the entire court — who wouldn’t want him as their leader?
Wang Wei ignored their enthusiasm and proceeded with his work. Even with his current realm, the Weave still had tremendous effects in boosting his power, and with its aid, things proceeded smoothly — maybe too smoothly. Wang Wei has never felt that navigating the River of Time was as smooth as it is today.
"Something is wrong."
