Maitreya and Wang Wei wasted no time. No one wants to live while constantly wondering when danger will strike. Maitreya flickered her wrists to leave a golden array at the core of the military base. Then, she entered Primordial Chaos and reached out for the Chaos World closest to them. Her colossal golden palm clasped the world, and with a burst of spatio-temporal energy, she moved the entire thing. The fusion of the two worlds was done methodically. Using the military base world as the primary, she slowly fed the second world’s Heavenly Dao. Then, Maitreya used her Sage Will to forcefully alter the Heaven Laws from the second worlds that did not fit with the military base world.
Wang Wei — who resided within the military base world — felt the difference, which made him quite excited. With a few more worlds, the essence of this base’s Heavenly Dao should elevate to a higher level. "Excellent," he muttered before using his powers as a commander to order other Primordial Saints to aid in this endeavor.
After more than 20 worlds, the military base finally ascended its essence. Wang Wei knew this was a great opportunity, so he observed and recorded the process for when he tries to sanctify. And this opportunity was far from finished. For their array, Maitreya needed to create another 3799 Artificial Source Worlds. Well, at least, that’s what the group thought would happen.
With the help of countless powerful Saints, Maitreya successfully created 1269 Source Chaos Worlds, but afterward, no matter what they did, no new ones could be born. It was as if some hidden rule of the world was preventing further action.
"Hurry up," Wang Wei suddenly said to Ancestor Qin and Rune Grave Saint. No one who could reach their realm was stupid and could guess what kind of power was required to stop them at the "rule-level." So, they rushed to finish the array. While it would be weaker without the full 3800 Source Chaos Worlds, the number 1269 held great significance and could still be used with the right skill.
So, after a great discussion with other Primordial Saints with some skills in Array, Ancestor Qin and Rune Grave Saint decided on the array design: 1269 worlds for the core of the array, 126,900 worlds for the outer area, and 1.269 million worlds for the outer.
"Is it done?" Wang Wei asked as he looked at the sky. He could sense a terrifying protective film covering the base.
"Yes," Maitreya nodded. Soon afterward, Ancestor Qin and Rune Grave Saint returned to headquarters. However, the first thing they did somewhat surprised Wang Wei and even Maitreya. They bowed ninety degrees to Wang Wei.
"Commander, thank you."
Wang Wei immediately stood up. "Are you guys trying to ruin my luck?" A mortal cannot easily accept a bow from a Great Emperor, or their luck would be instantly ruined. The backlash for a Saint is even worse.
"We sincerely thank you for this opportunity," Ancestor Qin said.
After thinking about it, Wang Wei realized what had happened. Their array — which they called the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array — was created from analyzing a powerful second-step array. In the process, these two, as the head Array Masters, had the opportunity to peek at the essence of a higher level. During the process, they not only made tremendous progress in their understanding of the Dao — which is crucial to condensing the Dao Quintessence — but also probably saw a way to elevate their flesh to a higher level.
"I understand your sentiment, but such a high ceremony is unnecessary. Just owe me karma after I sanctified," Wang Wei said.
Ancestor Qin and Rune Grave Saint secretly glanced at each other. The reason for this bow was because they didn’t want to owe him the karma. In this world, there is nothing more challenging to repay than great karma. So, they thought of using such a grand gesture to end everything, but unfortunately, Wang Wei did not accept it.
So, these two shrewd old geezers secretly sighed before nodding: "We understand." This opportunity was truly beneficial to them. Not only could they observe the enemy’s array, but they also had hundreds of other Primordial Saints to bounce ideas off of and help them set up this array. They had the opportunity to make numerous mistakes and continue trying, with essentially endless resources.
"Here is the core of the array," the Rune Grave Saint said, handing Wang Wei a blue jade with intricate runes carved into it.
"Thank you for all your effort," Wang Wei nodded. The two did not stay long, as they desperately wanted to enter seclusion to digest what they had understood. Wang Wei had similar thoughts. After observing so many [Heavenly Dao] being constructed, he felt he was on the verge of understanding something. So, he left a clone and entered seclusion. Not long after entering seclusion, someone showed up at the headquarters.
"Lord," Wang Wei immediately stood.
"No time for pleasantries, so I will be direct," the Erudite Duchess’s projection directly said. "We have identified hundreds of crucial array nodes. However, most of them are false or not as important as they seem, so we need you to attack so we can eliminate the non-crucial ones."
"It will be done," Wang Wei immediately promised.
The Duchess nodded. "You’ve done a great job with our array." Wang Wei’s actions forced the hidden Tribunal Saint to act, allowing them to track it down. Everybody has been worried about a sudden sneak attack, and Wang Wei’s actions have eased their burden.
"I’m just doing my job," Wang Wei said humbly. "By the way, Lord, are there any improvements we could make to ensure the base’s safety?"
’This guy is really an opportunist, as the information said,’ the Erudite Duchess thought. However, she did not say anything and simply created a second talisman using methods to optimize the array. Wang Wei thanked her with the utmost sincerity before summoning everybody for a grand meeting.
The meeting room was oddly arranged. The Primordial Saints all had seats at the front while the Primals stood at the back. Meanwhile, Wang Wei — as the commander — stood in front of everybody, but he had no seat and had to remain standing like the other Primals. He made such an arrangement because he understood how hierarchical the cultivation world was — how everybody valued seniority, fame, and status. And while he was technically the leader, his cultivation realm could not convince everybody.
"I called this meeting to discuss two things," Wang Wei started. "Firstly, the Tribunal Lords have optimized our array. Ancestor Qin and Rune Grave Ancestor: use your previous team to make the modifications."
Ancestor Qin and Rune Grave Saint’s clones were elated. Although their karma had deepened, no one would miss out on such an opportunity.
"Speaking of this array, Commander, do you think it’s a good idea for you alone to control the core?"
Wang Wei knew it was only a matter of time before someone challenged — especially without the Tribunal Lords here to vouch for his status as commander. However, he thought the problem would arise much later, since the expedition had just started. So, he glanced at the speaker: a slightly burly man wearing black emperor robes with golden dragons. His body naturally exuded a domineering aura, and he had piercing red eyes.
’Sovereign Dao Eyes — I knew it would be one of those Sovereign Dao people who would cause trouble first,’ Wang Wei thought. These people love power too much.
"The Lords have sent a mission, so we can discuss the issue of the arrays afterward," Wang Wei calmly said. He then waved his hand to show a map or blueprint before explaining that they needed to attack specific nodes of the enemy’s array so the Lords could gather more information. As soon as he finished, Sovereign Dao Eyes’ complexion was ugly.
An enormous discussion immediately broke out in the room, and Wang Wei calmly watched without saying a word. However, his mind was receiving hundreds of secret transmissions, including from Sovereign Dao Eyes.
’I’ll give you five Saint Talimans."
"Are they true talismans?" Wang Wei asked, making the latter quiet down. Saints can create weapons of their level with their powers by pure creation or nourishing some decent Paragon Tier materials, but True Saint Artifacts require Saint Tier resources. Unfortunately, Saint Level resources in this world are rare or require stealing from the Grand Constructs. As an Ancient Saint, Sovereign Dao Eyes knew better the consequences of stealing from Grand Dao.
"I’m giving you an opportunity to mend the relationship," he said.
"And I’m telling you I don’t care," Wang Wei rebutted. The moment this man spoke out loud, his fate was sealed: he would be dispatched to the most dangerous area of this mission — the places where the shockwave from the Tribunal Lords’ battle could instantly annihilate him. The only options left for Sovereign Dao Eyes are to survive this mission or become a deserter and be hunted down. If this timeline were not sealed, the second option might be viable, but unfortunately, there is no cure for regrets.
