Chapter 1739: Grand Karma & Grand Picture

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

The Tribunal Lords and Cardinals calmly watched Wang Wei with respect, deep in their eyes. Leadership and strength are not mutually inclusive; just because they are the strongest people in this room does not mean they contain the leadership skills necessary to motivate all their subordinates. All of them could have said a few words, and these cultivators would have agreed. But their words would never have resonated with them to the point of even subtly influencing their mind or spirit.

Wang Wei chose the best words for the situation. The nature of the cultivation means that only cruel people can reach the top. And with [Time] always eroding their emotions, Paragons and above cultivators usually become cold and rational. Wang Wei took into account all these facts — including the Saints’ terrible history with the Grand Dao — and used cold, cruel facts to tug at their heartstrings.

He revealed the nature of the world and painted everybody a picture of the future to create a sense of shared fate. Finally, he rallied them with the only thing all cultivators care about above everything else — even above their own benefit: their lives.

"Is charisma truly the only way to reach the top?" the Slaughter Ancestor asked. So far, the two most powerful Grand Dao Saints they are aware of — the Highest Sovereign and Future Wang Wei — seem to be natural leaders with the ability to inspire others to follow them.

"Maybe not the only, but it’s one of the strongest and broader paths," the Primordial Heaven Sword Saint replied. A memory of two unparalleled figures flashed in his mind, one holding a sword and the other a saber.

’Is my method wrong?’ Primordial Heaven Sword Saint thought. He has spent so many years trying to achieve what these two failed to, but now, he is starting to question his method. All those years, he has been doing things in the shadows, which is the antithesis of the upright nature of a swordsman. However, now, he is doubting his approach.

"That may be so, but how difficult is it to achieve? The karma entangled with walking this path is already a nightmare," the Karma Root Monarch shook her head.

"If karma is your main counter-argument, it’s a weak one," the Slaughter Ancestor rebutted. The Karma Monarch wanted to rebut, but she couldn’t. Wang Wei was on this path and cultivated Karma Dao, but he still reached the pinnacle.

"There is an easy way to achieve all of this," the True Dream Lord commented. However, no one paid attention to or responded to him. Yes, turning reality into your dream means the dreamer can have everything you desire, but the issue is how to turn reality into a dream. Even if the True Dream Lord were to enter the third step, no one believes he would succeed in turning the entire Chaos Universe into his dream.

"There is no point in discussing this now. We need to get moving now," the Erudite Duchess added, and everybody nodded. "Any last-minute addition to the plan?" While the plan was already set and last-minute changes should not be allowed, these powerful beings understood that plans need to change and adapt to the times. And with Wang Wei raising their troops’ morale to the highest level since the expedition, someone might have something to add to the previous plan.

"No? In that case, let’s move."

All the second-step Saints disappeared from the room, manifesting outside of the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array. They used their immense mind or soul to control the thirteen pillars of the World Refining Array and accelerate the process. As expected, the Infinite Divine Court’s Tribunal Saints arrived at their destination to try and stop them.

Unfortunately, not only was the court understaffed, but the Primordial Race still had its protective array in place to defend the 13 pillars. So, even though they went all out from the start by summoning their true Saint Artifacts, their attempt was futile.

"Something is wrong," the Trinity Venerable said. "Even in such a situation, the sixth one still hasn’t shown up."

"Indeed. What could be more important than the destruction of this timeline?" Slaughter Ancestor asked. They have already analyzed the situation and realized that the production of the Black Reverse Stone relies heavily on the special nature of this timeline, meaning that if something happens to it, production might be affected. Yet, despite the importance of this universe/timeline, the court still made the decision to hide the sixth Tribunal Saint.

"We’ve already killed so many people and heavily influenced this world. Could we use the [Grand Karma] to find them?" Primordial Heaven Sword Saint asked.

"No," Trinity Venerable, Erudite Duchess, and Slaughter Ancestor replied.

"The Grand Karma is not completed yet, and it’s the key for the final step of the plan. We cannot risk revealing any information before then,’ Karma Root Monarch said.

"You know the potential benefit, so let’s not ruin everything for a momentary victory," the Erudite Duchess nodded.

"Of course, we still need to be on the lookout for a possible sneak attack," the Trinity Venerable added.

"They are about to move."

As soon as the True Dream Lord uttered these words, the Time Cardinal and Heaven Cardinal moved. With one step, they crossed most of this timeline to arrive before the court’s Reverse Black Stone Array. With a snap of its cat’s paw, all the members of Group A teleported behind the Time Cardinal, who then proceeded to work with its fellow cardinal to open countless spatial tears to different node worlds.

Although he had already made the calculations, the Heaven Cardinal performed a brief check to ensure members of his group were sent to the appropriate Node World. However, he soon frowned.

"What is it?"

"Something is wrong. I’m picking an unknown anomaly."

In the Heaven Cardinal’s eyes, he saw everything: every subatomic particle, every law, every secret, every truth of the universe. However, as he observed the array and all the "information" associated with it, he realized there was something hidden. The perfect picture he should have envisioned is missing something.

"Is it the hidden Tribunal Lord?" Time Cardinal asked.

"No, it’s something else." Since the Heaven Cardinal already "knows" there is a hidden second-step Saint, the grand picture he can see also includes that person. Although he still hasn’t detected the hidden powerhouse yet, as long as the other one makes the slightest move, they will appear in the grand picture. But the anomaly that the Heaven Cardinal speaks of is something that even his grand picture was not aware of, but still has some effects on the grand picture — hence the anomaly.

"What do you suggest we do?"

"I suggest we make a scene to see if we can draw something out," Heaven Cardinal suggested. Their original plan was to do things slowly and steadily, forcing the court to reveal their trump cards one by one, and now, they had the perfect opportunity to do so.

"Should we communicate with everybody else?"

"Things are already tense, let’s not aggravate it."

The Time Cardinal’s feline pupil glanced at his companion. For a moment, he wondered whether this was how he truly felt or the result of Wang Wei’s previous speech. No matter how they feel about the future Fate Dominator, who has made their lives hell, they have to admit he spoke the truth: the future of the Primordial Timeline will be full of danger and fierce competition. Grand Dao has designed it as such, including the Infinite Divine Court’s invasion. The only thing Grand Dao did not expect or predict was that the invasion would arrive before all the rules were established and the Transcendent Age had already reached the early peak.

’Very well," the Time Cardinal agreed. Everybody swiftly linked their divine senses and shared their discoveries. Then, they designed a new plan to respond to the changes of the field. And as soon as the meeting ended, the two cardinals acted.

The Time Cardinal waved his hand to summon a green, ancient, mechanical clock with countless characters written on it. The Heaven Cardinal summoned an artifact that resembled an eye. With a thought, it grew to colossal sizes as it stared at the Reverse Black Stone Array.

The two second-step Saint Artifacts suddenly resonated with each other before releasing two beams that entangled with each other to form a rotating tornado of energy. The power contained in that single attack was greater than the combined attack of two Tribunal Lords attacking together; it perfectly adapted the strength of each of them to achieve the feat that one plus one is greater than two.

Boom!

Timeline NP89076H trembled, but that was it. There were no more shockwaves, no signs of Primordial Chaos being penetrated, or even signs of the court’s array collapsing: forget collapsing, there wasn’t even a single scratch or sign of damage. And the reason was soon known by everybody involved. Two people or creatures floated in front of the cardinal, staring at them with dead and cold eyes.

"Why do they feel so familiar?" The Cardinal instinctively asked.
