Chapter 1762: Is Your Backyard Clean?

Wang Wei did not need to think too long to figure out Maitreya’s plan: divide and conquer. A race like the Chaos Demon God is usually highly hierarchical and conservative. It’s not even their fault; the way they were created and their environment resulted in such a mindset. And because of their conservatism, change usually takes a long time and an immense catalyst.

She will become the leader of a new progressive group that believes their race should change and learn from human ideology to improve and grow. The majority of the Chaos Demon Gods will reject her ideology and even her existence. The Chaos Demon Gods used to rule over the world, and during their time, humans probably didn’t even exist yet. How could they lower themselves to learn from such a new and weak race? Those conservative members will definitely reject Shenghuovi and denounce her.

Meanwhile, a few of her people — most likely the weaker ones, the ones who were only Primordial Chaos Saints during their life — will attach themselves to Shenghuovi as she represents the possibility of a brighter future. As the people who have suffered most under the old order, the conservatives will be more than willing to fight for the chance to change things and become the new rulers.

’And the final result will be a civil war which will weaken or at the very least, occupy the Chaos Demon Gods while the human race finishes settling themselves in the Transcendent Age,’ Wang Wei analyzed with a smile. ’When did Maitreya awaken the [Old Fox] Gene? Where was that version during Supreme Unity’s reign of terror?’

Wang Wei was both surprised and not surprised by Maitreya’s brilliance. As someone who invented the consent of [Incense Cultivation] and led the Buddhist Sect to suppress Taoism for countless yuan epochs, how can she be simple? How can she not be a master strategist? Maitreya’s strategic brilliance is probably on par with many Dao Overlords.

Sadly for Grand Dao, she wishes to put a leash on these monsters and have them behave normally, contributing to the development of the universe. But monsters cannot be controlled. After understanding the nature of the world and the rules, how can she expect them to behave?

’Let’s leave Shenghuovi alone for now,’ Wang Wei thought. Since he understood Maitreya had already had her designed on her, he would not interfere lest he ruin her plans. Thinking about other Chaos Demon Gods, he was about to check on Lin Fan and Xu Shi when something occurred.

The Reverse Black Stone Array trembled, and another wave of the Obsession Spirit Army rushed out. Orders immediately flew from the command centers, and the Saints and Paragon Legions executed them. First, it was a temporary seal of these core worlds with Saint Obsession Spirits. The objective was not to deal with them, but to achieve temporary isolation to free these Saints so that Wang Wei could use them for the next step of the plan.

Once that was dealt with, Wang Wei used the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array as a medium—not only to amplify his strength, but also to reduce the burden of controlling such power. That was the purpose of these Saints: batteries or placeholders, sharing the backlash for Wang Wei. No matter how powerful the array was, it did not change the fact that Wang Wei was only a Paragon. "The Infinite Divine Court preached of justice, fairness, and equality of all life, but the foundation of their society is still based on war and conquest. How many lives did they trample upon when they descended into this bright world? How much suffering occurred during their subjugation of this timeline?

"I call upon thee to awaken, slumbering souls, the ones whose obsession and resentment have been washed away by the tide of times. Your time of vengeance has arrived. Let the world once again feel your wrath."

As soon as these words spread, a grand change occurred between Heaven and Earth. Numerous obsession spirits in worlds across the entire timeline slowly materialized; it did not matter whether it was the Reverse Black Stone Array, the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array, or the unoccupied worlds floating in Primordial Chaos. Then, under the light of that guiding voice, they rushed toward their enemy — their conqueror.

Boom!

World after world was destroyed. These obsession spirits did not care whether these worlds were the core of the Reverse Black Stone Array. They destroyed everything in their paths. However, to Wang Wei’s surprise, they could not immediately enter. These spirits desperately tried to, and eventually, they probably would have, but for now, they were stopped outside the core area.

’It seems their array is better than ours,’ Wang Wei analyzed. ’Or, they are better adept at controlling obsessions and spirits than I am. It’s probably both.’

Compared to how easily these people penetrated the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array’s core, Wang Wei saw how much he was lacking. However, he did not blame himself. After all, he was young, facing an old empire that had spread across countless universes.

Wang Wei reached to summon the communication talisman to relay orders to the Group A individuals who remained behind. "This is Command. I order all members of Group A to proceed to the next stage of laying out the spatial positionings. I also order you to open the door from the inside to let the obsession spirits in. I repeat, this is Command, and I —"

Boom!

A golden light descended from the sky and instantly vaporized these ancient Obsession Spirits. Wang Wei frowned. This was faster than anticipated. He had no doubt the court had ways to deal with his attack. After all, after so many years of conquest, it’s understandable that one of their enemies would have tried to use past karma or actions to topple the court; they probably had a ton of experience dealing with such scenarios. However, he never expected them to react so swiftly.

A sense of unparalleled dread overcame his mind, almost collapsing it. He activated his Saint Dao Heart to ease his situation, then took control of the command center to find the source. Then, his expression turned ugly when he saw what had happened.
