Wang Wei opened his eyes and exhaled. This retreat was worth it. Although he still hadn’t figured out what the key for the final fusion was, he completely digested the formula that Shen Tian used to fuse all these powers. Now, as long as he finds the key, he can condense his Supreme Saint Will Prototype.

After stretching his body, Wang Wei walked out of the seclusion room. He sensed something, and after nodding, a figure slowly rose from his shadows. "Did something happen?"

"The Tribunal Lords have sent out a secret signal, asking all expeditioners to join them for a mission."

Wang Wei immediately frowned, "They called everybody?"

"Yes. They also used the mandatory signal."

Wang Wei groaned. If it were up to him, he would not join in these people’s business. Unlike the expedition, there is no grand array to protect him. More importantly, there is still the possibility of this secret realm possessing two Grand Dao Saints. That woman —Suiji — was already a nightmare, but her power paled in comparison to a true third-step powerhouse.

"Where is the meeting location?"

"Inevitable Destiny Prefecture," the shadow replied. "As for the exact location, it appears another secret message will be sent once everybody gathers."

"That’s a prefecture under the Primordial Holy Land, right?"

"That’s correct."

Wang Wei did not like the possible implications. However, now, he had too little information to go on. "Did they have a deadline?"

"No, but I’m assuming that’s because they don’t think anyone would dare not show up as soon as possible."

Wang Wei’s brow furrowed. He was contemplating whether he could use an excuse to skip this mission. However, all his analysis revealed it was impossible. Under normal circumstances, his excuses might have worked, but this mission is probably related to the Tribunal Lords’ benefits and resources — resources which could help them enter the third step. No matter how much respect they have for Wang Wei or even fear for his future self, these people will abandon all that when there is enough benefit.

"Alright, I understand," Wang Wei nodded. He’ll head over after fulfilling his last promise to Chenli. "Anything else?"

"I had you keep your eyes on Wang Guo, and there is news."

"Oh?"

"Xiao Wenqe was captured."

"Is that so? I knew that crafty old man had its method. How did he do it?" Wang Wei smiled.

"Through a woman?"

"That old fox Xiao Wenque fell for such a simple plan?"

"Yes. The woman was someone whom Master Xiao once loved, but she chose someone else. Master Guo created a mortal version of that woman and placed it in an area that Master Xiao would visit. Although he was suspicious, he eventually could not resist using her as a replacement for that woman, and without knowing it, the Qi of Calamity was transferred into him from the woman."

Wang Wei became serious. Xiao Wenque was not stupid, and with a living Saint as his ally, he would have asked the latter to check the woman’s body. Yet, Wang Guo was still able to trick that Saint and schemed against his enemy.

"I knew that old sly fox wouldn’t be simple," Wang Wei thought. As someone who has successfully schemed the rise of the human race in the lower dimension, Wang Guo was indeed extraordinary. His old age and many conservative ideas may have dulled his wisdom, but when in desperate need, that old cunning fox side of him would suddenly pop on.

"Keep an eye on him and report everything he does."

"I apologize, sir, but I’m afraid that’s not possible."

"Hmm?" Wang Wei looked at the shadow. "What do you mean by that?"

"Master Guo disappeared after kidnapping Master Xiao. All the eyes we had on him could not detect his current whereabouts."

Wang Wei stared at the shadow.

"Please, punish me, sir. We are incompetent."

"You are indeed incompetent," Wang Wei sighed. The fact that Wang Guo disappeared so cleanly indicated he was always aware of the Fate Shadow Guard keeping their eyes on him. Of course, Wang Wei wouldn’t completely blame them. The application of his Fate Dao has been drastically reduced in this realm, not to mention these guards have only been established for a few million years. Regardless, he still needs to punish and reward people based on their capabilities.

"Go to the Law Enforcement Hall to receive your punishment. If this happens again, I’ll choose someone else to replace you."

"Yes, lord."

"Has the preparation for my trip been made?" Wang Wei asked. He was currently in the Purple Brilliance Prefecture, one of the twelve under the Heaven-Splitting Holy Land. According to his agreement with Chenli, he will bring her to the Absolute Axe Prefecture, which is the headquarters of the Holy Land. However, Wang Wei will only bring them to the farthest county and domain from that prefecture, and the mother-son duo must make the rest of the trip themselves.

Because of the presence of the Otherworldly Demons and past animosity between the holy clans and even members who support them, it’s not easy to travel from one prefecture to another. Some of them were not even connected to a Transmission Array, let alone the countless identity checks that will be required during the journey. During this period, the Fate Shadow Guard has created its own underground space network. Still, this world was too vast, and a few million years was far from enough to cover the entire world, especially since they had to do it secretly and under the eyes of some Saints.

"Everything is ready."

"Then, let’s depart immediately."

Wang Wei summoned Wangchen and Chenli to start their journey. The entire thing was quiet as these three barely said a word to each other. It did not help that this trip took more than a thousand years. After teleporting to the farthest end of the Fate Shadow Guard’s network, Wang Wei had to fly to its destination, constantly avoiding the territory of factions with known living Saints. No, even the one suspected of having one had to be avoided.

In times like this, Wang Wei missed the River of Time. With it, he could instigate large-scale teleportation with almost no cost, and it was well hidden from sight. Sadly, in this world, even with his terrifying power, the distance for his spatial manipulation was limited. And he still had to worry about being discovered. Luckily, with his meticulous planning and careful nature, they finally arrived at their destination.

"We’re here," Wang Wei said as he glanced at the mother and son. He waved his hand, and a space ring appeared. "I’ve left a few talismans that contained my full strength inside, along with one engraved with the Heaven Deception Array; it should provide some security."

Wangchen looked at the ring. A part of him wanted to angrily refuse this kindness, but he couldn’t find the strength to do it. This was his teacher’s last kindness, an act, depending on how you interpret it, that shows the latter cares about him in some ways — just not as he desperately wanted.

"Thank you," Chenli said as she took the ring. No matter how she felt about this man, he truly fulfilled his duty as a teacher until the very end.

"If someone catches you under the suspicion that you were involved with an Otherworldly Demon, don’t resist and reveal everything you know about me," Wang Wei continued. "Don’t give them any excuse to search your soul and ruin your foundation."

"But —"

"No buts," Wang Wei said. He didn’t reveal too much information to these two, and after he leaves here, he’ll clean out all traces of his presence before heading for the expedition meeting.

"We understand," Chenli nodded, the complex emotions brewing in her eyes intensified. Besides his coldness, this man was perfect in every aspect. It’s a shame he only had eyes for one woman.

"Alright, I’m leaving." Wang Wei turned around.

"Wait, teacher, no, let me call you master this one time," Wangchen said. "Master, will I ever see you again? Is there really no chance for our fate to continue?"

Wang Wei’s body paused. His mind flashed scenes of that baby who vomited and peed on him. He remembered the young boy who faked having nightmares and crawled into his room and asked him to read stories to him. The young man who created a facade of confidence and arrogance, but deep down, only wanted his approval. Finally, he sighed:

"If you can sanctify and escape this world, I will introduce you to my sect and accept you as my first disciple."

Wang Wei was nowhere to be seen after stating these words. The only reason he’s leaving Wangchen behind is that he needs a guiding compass to find his way back into this world after leaving. As for his coldness toward the young man? It was to establish boundaries. After all, he has a wife, and eventually, he will have children. If he doesn’t clarify things, Wangchen is bound to have ideas that he shouldn’t have.

However, once he can find this world on his own, he has no issue with bringing Wangchen back to the sect. After all, in terms of talent, the boy has the potential of a Saint.
