Chapter 1833: Purification

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

"What is it?" Maitreya asked.

Wang Wei did not immediately answer her, focusing instead on what he sensed. Finally, a complex look flashed in his eyes, "Someone is calling me. No, you could say they are praying to me."

"Who?" Maitreya frowned.

"Wangchen."

"Who is that?"

"He is someone I trained. You could say he is my disciple." Wang Wei sighed. Because of the Mirror Seed, he was in a state in which he was both himself and Maitreya, preventing him from hearing the latter’s call. But now, after losing the power, after only retaining his true self, he could finally hear the prayer.

"What do you want to do?"

"Let’s rescue him," Wang Wei sighed. His original purpose for creating Wangchen was to act as a guide to this dimension. However, in a few minutes, this place will be wiped out, meaning Wangchen won’t make it out alive. After so many years, Wang Wei did have some feelings for the boy, and given his Saint Potential, he wouldn’t mind bringing him back to the sect.

"Where is he?" Maitreya asked.

Wang Wei frowned, "That’s the issue. I can barely hear his call, but I can’t find the karma thread connecting us."

"Was he one of the disciples of the Heaven Splitting Holy Lang?"

"He was."

"By the time we attacked, none of the disciples were present, which indicates the holy land hid them for safekeeping," Maitreya uttered. "After all the chaos, there is a high chance their place of refuge was compromised."

"If they’re going to relocate the disciples, it must be in a hidden world that blocks most of a Saint’s attack and detection," Wang Wei continued. "However, the holy land would have never taken into account the...Taboo’s presence. So, let’s track the dream corruption existing in the void, and we’ll find them."

"Alright."

The two no longer hesitated and entered the hidden space in the holy land, trying to detect any hidden dimension or worlds. Wang Wei’s approach was the most efficient. Cthulhu’s presence was overbearing, affecting everything in its path. By searching for its existence, they soon found a few hidden dimensions contaminated by his power. Then, once the two were this close, Wang Wei finally detected the karmic thread connecting them.

"This kid is lucky," Wang Wei thought as he tore apart the Saint Formation protecting the dimension. Cthulhu’s power had disrupted most of it, and given that no one inside was controlling it, Wang Wei reckoned the guardian was either dead from the seed implanted by the Great Old One or healing his injuries to prevent his foundation from collapsing. All these coincidences reduced the formation’s strength to the point that these two could force their way inside.

Following the karma thread, Wang Wei and Maitreya teleported to their destination.

"Teacher, quick, save my mother."

Wang Wei looked at the kneeling Wangchen. Like all the disciples in this dimension, he had his own mansion, with the interior space extended. However, Wangchen didn’t care about the size of the room. As he lay next to his dying mother, the only thing he cared about was that the sect’s upper echelon in this dimension had said his mother was beyond saving.

Wang Wei glanced at Chenli lying on the bed. Her face looked pale, but besides that, everything looked all right. However, her brow was furrowed, and she kept moving her head left and right while muttering something incomprehensible.

"Her spiritual world and Sea of Consciousness have already been completely corrupted," Wang Wei shook his head. This is the price of coming into contact with a Great Old One. Chenli was already a person of weak will after spending so many years of comfort and leisure with Wang Wei, and now, after being directly affected by a higher being, it’s a miracle that she didn’t immediately go mad.

"Teacher, please, I’ll do anything. Please, save her. She’s the last family I have." Wangchen begged even louder.

"What do you think?" Wang Wei asked.

"I can remove about 60% of the corruption without infecting her myself and collapsing her Sea of Consciousness," Maitreya said. "Then, through an arduous process of reincarnation to remove the rest, she might be able to survive. But..." Maitreya looked at Wang Wei, asking if he truly wanted to save these two. After all, Chenli’s current situation was the result of Wang Wei’s actions.

Wang Wei nodded with his eyes. He’d tell the boy the truth and observe him for a while. If he still holds a grudge, Wang Wei will eliminate him.

"Teacher, I’ll pay whatever is necessary for her recuperation. Just give me the chance."

"No need to continue begging," Wang Wei said. "No matter what, we still have some cause and effect." Wang Wei’s words were truthful, but as always, his actions often have multiple effects. While he would save Chenli because of his familiarity with her son, it’s also because he was interested in Cthulhu’s power. He hoped that during the healing process, Dong Lifen could learn a thing or two. Cthulhu was a double-edged sword, so it would be best if his power could be used without being affected.

After nodding to Maitreya, she placed her hand over Chenli’s body to condense a pure white flower. The Paramita Flower immediately started absorbing a black aura from Chenli’s body, dyeing the pure white flower black. Meanwhile, Wang Wei took a small section of a Saint Healing herb and crushed it to release its properties into Chenli’s body.

Wangchen stood from his kneeling position and checked on his mother. After noticing her aura and life energy were slowly reverting to normal, she kowtowed to Maitreya and Wang Wei.

"Teacher, Great Buddha, thank you for your life-saving grace. From now on, I will climb the sea of fires and mountains of blades to repay this kindness."

"No need for that. Pack your things and let’s go," Wang Wei said.

"Teacher, y-y-your taking me with you?"

"It’s here," Maitreya suddenly said.

Wang Wei — who finally sensed it — did not have the time to waste on Wangchen, so he put him and Chenli inside his Grandmist Wheel World.

"There is still some time. Why don’t you also collect these disciples? Most of them are quite talented," Maitreya suggested.

"They are too old," Wang Wei shook his head. Most of these disciples have already formed their identities around the Heaven-Splitting Holy Land. Without an emotional foundation and given that Wang Wei was partly responsible for the downfall of their sect, it would be a mistake to recruit them into the Dao Opening Sect. Of course, if Wang Wei were a bit more ruthless, he could have turned them all into Fate Puppets. As Maitreya said, they were all talented. Many of them even have the potential to become saints. However, Wang Wei felt it was unnecessary; their existence would complicate things.

Swish!

A subtle, spatial force undetectable by the two of them quietly manifested around them. When Wang Wei and Maitreya noticed something, they had already been teleported away. They had teleported before the Source Qi Cardinal, and they were not the only ones: the Tribunal Lord, all the expeditioners, and even the Infinite Divine Court were all standing in front of this cardinal.

"This timeline has been assigned for annihilation," Source Qi Cardinal said, her voice cold and indifferent as if she were a machine. Everyone realized something was wrong, not just because of the Cardinal’s voice, but also because her aura was terrifying. And now that they were thinking about it, she was able to teleport so many Tribunal Lords without their consent and even awareness.

"That’s not the Source Qi Cardinal," everybody concluded.

"Before the departure," Source Qi Cardinal continued. "All Primordial and Divine Beings must be purified." After saying these words, she did not wait for a response and sent everybody into this white space. The expeditioners — who had figured out this was Grand Dao’s work — did not resist much, but the Infinite Divine Court would not accept judgment from their enemy.

"Don’t resist," a voice suddenly echoed in Star Manifestation’s mind. "Let her finish the purification, and you can return to defend the base."

"Your majesty, I’ll do as you wish," Star Manifestation called out excitedly. Although they didn’t know the reason, Star Manifestation still had enough belief in his leader.

"Good," Jiang Qing nodded. He understood Grand Dao’s views on today’s stand on today’s event: the Chaos Origin Realm has to be wiped out to erase all signs of the taboo, and the people who escape eradication must be cleansed. Although Jiang Qing could resist, he did not dare. That’s right, he didn’t dare.

Although he is one of the few people who can resist the Destruction General, Jiang Qing knew this was nothing but a matter of reputation — not the truth. As a being considered the [Highest Weapon], its power represents the pinnacle of the Chaos Universe. How can such a being easily be dealt with?

Only a few Grand Dao Saints know that the Destruction General is in a sealed state. Throughout its existence, it has only been unsealed four times, each time during a monumental event of the Chaos Universe.
