Chapter 1907: Death's Descent

Future Reverence glanced at the list and still kept Wang Wei's name in the first place. Analyzing the other ones, he realized only the first and second were truly variables. The Chaos Demon Gods were severely injured, requiring years to recuperate. And even if they could acquire resources, the process would still take hundreds of yuan epochs. Suiji was in a similar situation; the only truly threatening aspect of these people is their [Grand Dao Authority].

Trinity Venerable was also on the verge of collapse. His situation was worse, as his lifespan remained a problem, and he held no [Authority]. Future Reverence glanced at the world, and unfortunately, the Taoist Priest's false egoes remained scattered between Heaven and Earth.

"This bastard sure loves to cling to life," Future Reverence shook his head, focusing on the remaining people on the list.

The Erudite Duchess and Star Manifestation were the only healthy Tribunal Lords left, but the latter probably had their Dao Heart in pieces. At the very least, it's heavily damaged. As for the duchess? Her strength is decent, but it's nothing compared to a False Third Step Powerhouse.

"Wait — the Duchess, hasn't she been a bit too quiet?" Future Reverence muttered. The last time the duchess showed up was to test the information about the Longevity Realm. However, that was just a projection. And even before that, she only showed up with an avatar. The last time her true body appeared was when she betrayed the expeditioner and joined Wang Wei.

"She's too low-key — so low-key that I thought she had placed a spiritual hint on my mind to forget her," Future Reverence frowned. He immediately summoned the power of his [Authority] to find information about the duchess, primarily, her location. He suspects she might have played a part in Death Reverence's death. More importantly, she might be planning something with Wang Wei.

Future Reverence's effort immediately met with a terrifying blockade. Someone with a decent amount of [Authority] was blocking his attempt to find the duchess's location, and it wasn't hard to guess who it was.

"Is this an instinctual action on Wang Wei's part, or is there truly something to hide?" Future Reverence squinted. He immediately intensified his action. Today, no matter what, he must find the duchess' whereabouts. The clash between these two, using the hidden rules of Heaven and Earth, was intense, but in the end, the outcome was obvious: the man with higher [Authority] won.

"She's in the Primordial Sword Dao Array? Is this the worst-case scenario?" Future Reverence thought. With the duchess's knowledge, she has a high chance of repairing some of the damage of the [Sword-Saber Dao Source]. More importantly, she might also allow the Sword Saint to use its full power — the power it had when it was intact.

"Yes. Wang Wei should know that Death Reverence's greatest reliance was on me. It makes sense that he prepared a way to deal with it. Unfortunately, that waste died before he could use it, meaning he still had this trump card available."

Now that he had figured out the truth, he only needed to prepare for this "worst-case scenario," and everything would be fine. Just as Future Reverence was about to enact his plan, he suddenly stopped: "No, there is another variable: Divine Prince, Jiang Ye."

Future Reverence mulled over countless possibilities, trying to figure out what to do next. "I need a power that can defy fate." An idea popped into his mind, and he immediately executed it. Using his [Authority], he hid something between Heaven and Earth. Then, he immediately teleported outside of the Lesser Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Wang Wei opened his eyes and sighed to himself. All his attempts to discover Kong's trail failed, and on top of that, the situation had now deviated into the worst-case scenario. "Ai, any chance you could give me some good news?"

"I'm sorry, sir. The timeline seal is perfect. No matter how much I tried, I couldn't find the connection our enemy used to communicate with the outside."

"What about the duchess?"

"I've sent a few messages, but there's been no answer."

"Only a few?"

Boom! Boom! Boom!

"You ordered me to keep the contact to a minimum to prevent others from discovering her, and I'm glad you did."

"Oh?"

"Someone went through a lot of effort to find her location."

"He —"

"I did things as you planned. Now, he should be operating under the assumption that she's in the Primordial Sword Dao Array."

"That is something," Wang Wei muttered, pondering whether this deception would be of any use in the current situation. It would have been — if he could have contacted the duchess and gained some basic understanding of her situation. ȐÁƝo͍ΒĚŞ

"Sir, the integrity of our defense has been reduced by 25%."

"Already? The attack had just started," Wang Wei frowned.

"The enemy is targeting our connection with the Primordial Sword Dao Array, which means —"

"He's rapidly severing the power we are borrowing from the [Sword-Saber Dao Source," Wang Wei grunted.

"We've lost another 5%."

"Damn it, what is that Sword Saint doing? Isn't he maintaining his side of the connection?"

"He is, but he's not doing a good job," Ai responded.

"He's doing it on purpose, isn't he?"

"Most likely."

"But, what's his motive?" Wang Wei frowned.

"Would you like me to calculate?"

"No need. Let's focus on something more productive," Wang Wei shook his head. He already has an inkling of what the Primordial Heaven Sword Saint wanted.

'Are you sure?"

"If I'm right, he'll wait until we're more desperate before contacting us."

"As you wish."

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

"Sir, we've —"

"Stop the constant update. Display a screen of all the data instead."

Ai immediately activated a Visual Transmission Array, displaying not only what was happening outside of the formation, but also the current state of the Lesser Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array. Wang Wei immediately frowned. The situation was even worse than Ai stated.

"Sir, you have an incoming communication from Maitreya."

"Accept it, and make sure we're on the most secure line."

Another screen appeared before Wang Wei, revealing a distressed Maitreya.

"I'm sorry," she immediately began. "But, he won't listen to anything I say."

"It's fine," Wang Wei said calmly. "Do you still have the last resort plans I gave you?"

"I do."

"Did you mention them to him?"

"Of course not."

"Good. Once this body fails, prepare to use them to revive me."

"Alright."

"There are two more things I need your help with."

"Anything."

"First, I'll grant you access to my space ring. Take everything inside and then use the resources required to revive me."

"Can't I just take your revival resources?"

"No, just take everything."

"Well, if you insist," Maitreya nodded. "What's the second?"

"I need you to create another artificial True Heavenly Dao for me."

"Do you want to use that Saint Art again?" Maitreya frowned. "Your foundation —"

"My foundation will mean nothing if I'm dead."

Maitreya sighed, "I understand."

After ending his communication with Maitreya, Wang Wei focused on the situation at hand. He ignored the constant rumbling, analyzing and preparing his next step. "Ai, prepare for the Cicada Plan."

"Yes, sir. Do you also wish to move the surviving mortals to another location?"

"No. I need things to look as normal as possible to prevent him from suspecting something."

"Very well."

"And one more thing," Wang Wei continued. "Spread the Array Virus throughout the Highest Firmament. Don't focus too much on hiding yourself; instead, boost their ability to multiply."

"But, sir, if we do that, it will be easier to detect." The reason the Array Virus or Quantum Arrays are so effective is that they are the blind spot of most cultivators. Without access to Earth's civilization, most cultivators will not think to look for their existence. But the more they are used and the more people learn of their nature, the less effective they will become. And now, Wang Wei even plans to use them without fully utilizing their most prominent ability.

"Program them with a [Deception Aura] — that should be enough for them to serve their purpose," Wang Wei explained.

"Which is?"

"Energy. At the right moment, I need you to sacrifice these layers of the Highest Firmament and turn them into purest energy."

"A great idea, sir," Ai praised. "What do you want to use the energy for? Attack? Replenish our crumbling defense? Or something else?"

Wang Wei did not answer him. He has also been pondering the best course of action. Can an attack work on this man? It should have some effect, and with the addition of [Plan Cicada], the injury should not be minor. But would that change much? Would it be better to focus on defense and wait for backup?
