[Volume 13 — The Peak of Immortality: The Clash of Dao Overlords]—-------------
Red Mist Forbidden Zone:
Heavenly Book Paragon suddenly sensed something and opened his book. Words appeared across multiplied pages, but not a single one made a full sentence, let alone a paragraph worth any information. "The expedition must have ended. I wonder if the Heaven Cardinal succeeded," he thought.
Glancing at the book, he wasn't too surprised by the lack of information. The closer their battle approaches, the less information Grand Dao will be able to feed him. Moreover, he suspects Future Wang Wei is using their fight as a form of tempering for his younger self. Powerful people are always too sure of themselves, a flaw Heavenly Book Paragon knew he also shared. It's in their nature; they couldn't get to such a level of power without absolute confidence. People who lack such an ego cannot reach that level, and even if they do, they are usually mediocre.
Heavenly Book suddenly heard a cold snort, followed by the entire timely shaking. "Such power — it must be a Grand Dao Saint." Heavenly Book's eyes shone with envy and desire; such immense power to shake the very fabric of the universe was indeed tempting. Luckily, it will soon be his. Without wasting a moment, he sent orders to mobilize his shadow network; he wanted to know as much as possible about what happened in the expedition.
And in just one month, Heavenly Book received a report. Although it wasn't as detailed as he wanted, it contained enough information for him to understand the situation and deduce many things: the Reverse Black Stone Array, the Chaos Origin Realm, the Ancestral Fiendgod Realm & Ancestral Soul, the Abomination Taboo, and so many more.
"I can't believe the Heaven Cardinal died. He was a loser all his life, and he died as one," Heavenly Book shook his head. He then frowned. "And this Wang Wei — he has become a real physical threat."
Heavenly Book was still confident. After all, he still has the advantage of time, information, and preparation. However, he didn't expect Wang Wei's battle prowess to reach such a high level so quickly. The rate at which this bastard was improving never slowed; instead, it kept accelerating, which is absurd even for a genius of Heaven Book's caliber.
"My prediction about the Quasi-Saint Realm is true, but my method seems to be wrong," he pondered. He could tell that the destiny for establishing this realm would be a battle between Wang Wei and Lin Fan. As for him? Well, Heavenly Book thought the path forward was to condense an [Authority] from the mastery of the Six Grand Constructs. Unfortunately, it seems the correct path was the elevation of the Qi, Spirit, and Essence — a path he believed was too simple for the Quasi-Saint Realm, which should be the preparatory stages for sanctification.
"So, simplicity and the basics are the answer? How boring and dull," Heavenly Book shook his head. In his mind, the Grand Dao lacks originality if it chooses such a simple answer for the next path.
"Regardless of the truth, I must adapt." Heavenly Book Paragon immediately issued orders to his subordinates to acquire all the cultivation and resources he needed to enter the Ancestral Fiendgod Realm and obtain an Ancestral Soul. He also told him to gather as much information as possible about the expedition, since he wasn't very satisfied with what they had previously sent.
Once that was done, Heavenly Book looked at the endless Primordial Chaos and thought, "There is still a delay." The purification process of the Devour Runes has been completed. Right now, he was in the middle of reinforcing his [Existence] by absorbing countless of his alternate selves across the Infinite Trichiliocosm. The process was on the verge of completion, which meant he was ready to execute his plan.
But, just as he was about to succeed, something forced him to delay again, and he was not happy about that. A lion must go all out even when hunting a rabbit. And by now, Heavenly Book had to acknowledge that Wang Wei wasn't a rabbit. So, in the spirit of not allowing more variables to manifest, he needed to end things as soon as possible.
Heavenly Book Paragon activated his cloak and left the forbidden Zone. There was one thing he needed to do personally: check on the Erudite Duchess. Her closeness to Wang Wei suggests she may have been a variable he needed to consider for the success of his plan.
Eternal Ascension World:
As soon as Wang Wei passed through the protective wall of the Eternal Ascension World, he immediately checked the karmic connection linked to him. A smile crept on his face as he sensed the person he wanted. Ignoring everything else, he immediately teleported to the Origin Seal Continent.
There she was, floating in the sky in a white hanfu with golden phoenix embroidery, barefoot, her black hair dancing in the wind, exuding an air of pure femininity and power. How many nights has he dreamed of this reunion? How many times has his mind unknowingly reminisced about that figure? How many times has he craved her supple lips? How many times has he remembered her warm and secure embrace?
Wang Wei and Wu Hong teleported in front of each other, staring intently, their eyes tinged with longing. They didn't say anything for a good thirty seconds — they didn't need to — their eyes spoke clearly. It spoke of the eternal yearning they faced during this separation; it spoke of the constant worry about each other's fate; it spoke of the relief and joy for the future now that they were reunited.
Then, all the longing turned into the most intense desire; ignoring all the eyes on them, Wang Wei and Wu Hong immediately began kissing passionately. And as soon as their lips touched, they lost themselves in each other. In that moment, nothing else mattered: the rise and fall of the sun and moon, the revolution of Yin and Yang, the balance of Heaven and Earth, and even the cycle of life and death. The only things that mattered to them were each other, their togetherness, and their endless affection.
The two disappeared from sight, teleporting into a private dimension. And then, the madness began. They tore each other's clothes before immediately beginning to fornicate even more wildly than animals. The landscape was ravaged as they rolled around: mountains collapsed, forests were extinguished, and even the clouds scattered as they flew into the sky, out of space, and even into the sun.
Days passed, and they still hadn't stopped. Their activity had reached a state in which Wang Wei and Wu Hong had lost their physical forms. Instead, they had turned into millions of particles that mixed, entangled, and combined with one another; from a distance, it looked like two groups of bees interacting with each other.
Eighty-one days passed, and Wu Hong and Wang Wei seemed to have reached the ultimate state of desire, pleasure, and passion. Their bodies resonated with the Yin-Yang Grand Dao Source and the hidden rules, causing their bodies to turn into Yin-Yang Symbols. This form of enlightenment lasts 18 hours before they revert to their human form.
"Wow," Wang Wei said as he lay naked in a forest, with Wu Hong on his left arm, and a blanket with the Yin-Yang symbol covering them.
"Indeed."
"I mean, wow."
"Wow, indeed," she nodded.
Wang Wei was silent. He opened and closed his mouth a few times.
"What's wrong?"
"I'm trying to find words, but wow seemed to be the only thing I could think of."
She chuckled, "Then use a few more wows."
"I don't think there are enough wows in the Infinite Trichiliocosm to describe what just happened," Wang Wei sighed.
"This was indeed a one-in-a-lifetime experience."
Wang Wei raised his right arm and clenched his fist, "My foundation is completely repaired. No, I think it's even more solid than before." He could feel that his flesh, soul, and Dao had increased by at least 5%.
"Same, " Wu Hong nodded after sensing her body. And my injuries are also healed."
"I think there is more," Wang Wei continued. "I feel like I'm very close to condensing my Dao Quintessence Prototype. I just need one opportunity." This was good news for Wang Wei. With the prototype, his strength will directly reach the False Grand Dao Saint stage after he becomes a Tribunal Lord.
"Mine has improved, and the Fate Seal seems to be closer to perfection," Wu Hong added. "No, not just the Fate Seal. All the seals with your Dao have improved drastically. Hmm? Since when do you cultivate Deception?"
"Recent enlightenment during the expedition. We can talk about it later. I want to know what happened to you?" Although Wang Wei kept his composure during and after Death Reverence's battle, it was only because he was an expert at managing his emotions. In truth, he was constantly worrying about Wu Hong's safety.
"You first."
"But I asked first."
Wu Hong looked at him and smiled, "Do you have the heart to reject your beautiful wife's request?"
"Playing the flirtatious vixen role?"
"Is it working?"
"Unfortunately, it is," Wang Wei sighed, before recounting everything he had experienced, from the moment the expedition began to the scrutiny by the Grand Dao Saints upon his return.
"Your Time Nexuses are too terrifying. You should be more careful," Wu Hong frowned.
