"Is this the work of ’He’ that the Symbol Master warned about?" Wu Hong thought. Someone was doing their best not only to prevent the development of this timeline’s civilization, but also to ensure it regresses. And their motive is easy enough to deduce: regression means it’s harder for them to defend themselves, which means this world’s destruction can arrive sooner.

Wu Hong looked in the direction of the Red Cloud while squinting. Things were becoming too complicated too fast, and she needed to prepare a response. Otherwise, this outing would not be an opportunity for improvement; it would be her burial site.

"What should I do? I also know the knowledge," Nie Rouxin said, her voice and body trembling. Wu Hong glanced at her and frowned. Nie Rouxin was indeed talented, but she was sheltered and inexperienced, resulting in an unstable Dao Heart.

"You —"

"What’s going on?" Long Aojing asked as he rushed over. His expression froze as he saw the dead bodies, and he rushed to check them out. His complexion suddenly turned grave. "Forbidden Knowledge? That’s not just a legend? Wait, what knowledge is forbidden?"

"Husband, it’s the Symbol Array Inheritance."

"That means — wife, you must erase your mind immediately."

"I —" For the past few years, learning about Rune has been so enjoyable. The power of words and languages was so fascinating, and she was very good at it. After so many years of staying in that mansion, she finally had something to do. Nie Rouxin was a bit reluctant to give all that up.

Long Aojing approached and held her tenderly. "Honey, we can’t take the risk."

"I understand."

"No need for all that," Wu Hong said. "I’ll seal her knowledge, and she can stay with me while I figure this out."

"Fellow Daoist, I appreciate your help, but this is a family matter. I cannot take any risk of her being injured."

"How do you know erasing her memory will stop this curse?"

"I-I don’t, but it’s the best choice we have."

"Says who?" Wu Hong rebutted. "We can protect her with the array while I keep watch. Anyway, we are the only two left, so this curse must attack one of us. With my abilities, I’ll be able to do something no matter which one of us is the next target."

Long Aojing frowned.

"Honey, she may be our best choice," Nie Rouxin said while gently holding his face. As he glanced at her eyes, the commander nodded:

"Fine, but I want to be present."

"I don’t care," Wu Hong calmly replied.

The three immediately returned to the commander’s house in the Sky Ocean World, and Wu Hong activated the Destiny Hope Array. She turned one of the rooms in the mansion into an array node – an area with the highest level of power or protection. Then, the three isolated themselves inside and waited.

Wu Hong then walked to Nie Rouxin and placed one of the best sealing techniques on her soul. "I’ve connected the seal to the array for extra protection, so you shouldn’t worry too much."

"Thank you, Sister Wu."

Wu Hong nodded before walking to the side and summoning a cushion to sit down. She retrieved a novel from her space ring and immediately began to read. The literature of this world was a bit interesting. Most of it was about heroes fighting against the Red Cloud or stories about people triumphing over the Emperor Dao Path. Regardless of their poor quality, Wu Hong enjoyed them.

"Could it be that the last word of any world is the record of whatever civilization existed? Is this what the Omega Rune is?" Wu Hong thought. The only reason she chose to help the people of this world was to gather enough information to condense the Omega Rune, and now, Wu Hong felt she was on the right track.

"Hmm?" Both Wu Hong and Long Aojing suddenly retrieved a communication talisman. They both frowned after reading the contact. The Red Cloud had invaded, and this time, a Destructo Emperor — which was on par with Quasi- Saints — led the attack.

"Damn it, why now?" Long Aojing cursed.

"This is not a coincidence," Wu Hong stated.

"You mean..."

"Someone wants to lure either you or me; they want to make us more vulnerable."

"What should we do then?"

"I’ll give you one of my avatars," Wu Hong replied. "Don’t use it unless you have no choice."

"But what about Xin’er?"

"Don’t worry, I’ll look out for her."

Long Aojing turned to look at Nie Rouxin. "Xin’er, I’m sorry. I must protect the people."

"I-I understand. The world needs you."

Long Aojing kissed her forehead before rushing toward the battlefield. There is indeed a significant difference in the battlefield between his presence and when he’s absent. As such, Long Aojing always showed up no matter how small or severe the situation was.

"I can feel you staring," Wu Hong said, her eyes glued to the book. "What do you want to say?"

"Sister Wu, are you married?"

"You could say that."

"What’s with the ambiguity?"

"I have a Dao partner, but we haven’t officially married yet."

"I see," Nie Rouxin nodded. "What’s his name?"

"What’s his name?"

"Wang Wei."

"King of Power?"

"No, it’s the character for Great."

"Great King?" Nie Rouxin nodded. "A simple but direct name. But is he a great king?"

"The very best."

Nie Rouxin noticed the small smile on the corner of Wu Hong’s face and was immediately intrigued. "Can you tell me more about him?"

"What do you want to know?"

"What kind of man is he?"

"Hmm, that’s not an easy thing to say."

"Why not?"

"I mean, he has so many good attributes," Wu Hong calmly replied. "He’s handsome, brilliant, fit, extremely talented, and he treats me like I’m the most precious thing in the universe."

"Then, what’s your favorite thing about him?"

"His personality," Wu Hong answered without hesitation. "He is very insightful, so conversation with him always flows naturally while being mentally stimulating and without being tiring. He also doesn’t make others feel stupid, even though keeping up with his mind can sometimes be a challenge.

"He is very funny, so he can always make others smile when he needs to. He’s very generous, which is why he has so many friends and allies. No matter how others feel about it, they know that once he’s involved in a plan, everyone will benefit immensely.

"Lastly, he has this subtle influence on people. He probably doesn’t know it himself, but the way he conducts himself, the way he views and treats people, the way he has freed himself from so many societal restraints, is quite inspiring; his presence has a way to inspire others to be the best version of themselves."

"He sounds like an interesting person," Nie Rouxin uttered.

"He is."

"Now, tell me something you don’t like about him?"

"Why are you asking such a thing?"

"Sister, no one is perfect. So, he must have some flaws."

"Fair."

"Well."

"Hmm, if I had to choose, I’ll say that he can be too greedy and a bit too clingy."

"Sister, are you lying to me?"

"Not at all."

"First, you said he was generous, and now, you said he was too greedy."

"And both are true," Wu Hong replied. "Greed can be said to be his fatal flaw, and it manifests in a few ways. First, he doesn’t like to suffer in any situation — except when dealing with me. Second, in any situation, he always wants the best for himself or to gain the most advantage. Third, when doing business with others, the biggest piece of the pie will belong to him — everybody knows that. However, no one complains because his pies are usually so big that even the part he shares is enough for everybody."

"That makes sense," Nie Rouxin nodded before sighing deeply. "Such a capable man — he must have many women, right?"

"No, I’m the only one. He wouldn’t dare."

"Really?" Nie Rouxin’s eyes shone brightly before they instantly dimmed. "Then, sister, you must be constantly fighting against other women who want him."

"Not at all."

"How come?"

"He’s made it clear to everybody who knows him that I’m the only woman for him. In fact, he even has a reputation for being smitten. So most women know not even to try. Plus, they also cannot afford what I’ll do to him."

"How lucky you are," Nie Rouxin sighed again.

"Maybe."

Nie Rouxin was quiet for a moment before asking: "If your husband had to choose between the people and you — who would he choose?"

"Me."

"No hesitation?"

"Because I know he would. Heck, he would destroy the entire world for me."

"He doesn’t sound like a hero," Nie Rouxin pouted.

"Never said he was."

"....Sister Wu, you’re not from here, are you? I mean, this timeline."

"No, I’m not," Wu Hong admitted. She never thought she could hide her identity forever since it was too easy to guess. From her aura, to her habit, to her ignorance of many things, it was easy for someone to deduce her origin.

"I am —"

"Who’s there?" Wu Hong suddenly yelled.
