Chapter 1935: Grand Dao Qi

Two runes appeared above Wu Hong's head, one blue and one red. With a simple observation, they resembled the characters for [Alpha] and [Omega], but a closer observation would reveal that each stroke contained trillions of tiny magic circles. The blue character was bright and vivid, but the red one appeared a bit illusory for a few moments.

During the epiphany, the red rune slowly became more tangible until it was no different than its counterpart. The two runes then entered Wu Hong's forehead. A subtle aura emitted from her body, but no one around noticed a single thing; the process was done — the third transcendent foundation was complete.

Wu Hong smiled for a few seconds before checking her body's situation. "Hmm? Something doesn't feel right." Ensuring she hadn't made a mistake, Wu Hong double-checked, and her feeling was correct. "The third foundation is incomplete? No, incomplete is not the right word. It's more like it can be evolved into a higher state. Oh, so that's how it is."

Wu Hong knew there were different types of foundations. The most basic one only helped a cultivator increase the odds of sanctifying. However, higher-level ones include unique abilities, such as the Perfection Foundation. Her current Alpha-Omega Foundation was basic, but unlike most basic foundations, this one could evolve.

She didn't know how long this lineage would last under the current situation of the world, but her action was enough to compensate their family for her enlightenment.

Then, with one step, she returned to base in the Earth Sovereign World and entered a retreat. As she previously thought, it wasn't much of a challenge to deduce the Omega Rune since this world was on the verge of destruction. A simple observation of the laws and hidden rules of the world already revealed that this world was holding on by threads, so Wu Hong only took over half a yuan epoch in true time to finish the update.

And without wasting a second, she attempted to perfect the micro system and entered the Quasi-Saint Realm. Over the years, Wu Hong didn't just focus on the Battle Spirit System. Using her avatar and other resources, she studied and planned countless things, including perfecting the Emperor Path.

"Previously, I was headed in the wrong direction," Wu Hong thought as she adjusted her state. "The Dao Sea shouldn't evolve into a Genesis Qi Realm or a Source Qi Prototype. No, it should evolve into the Grand Dao Source; to be precise, the 'power' or purest energy contained in the Grand Dao Source."

Anyone knows the purest and most potent power of the universe is the "energy" in the Grand Dao Source. That energy, which Wu Hong calls Grand Dao Qi, is what Emperors — and most likely Saints — use to achieve a transition to a higher state of existence when they achieve a breakthrough in realm. That energy is also the one with the highest compatibility with laws and Dao, and since the ultimate end of the Emperor Path is to create their own Dao Source, it makes sense that they also use this energy.

"I still haven't found the difference between Grand Dao Qi and Source Qi. Something tells me they are connected, and maybe even the same thing," Wu Hong thought.

In the Primordial Timeline, Grand Dao Qi is an interesting thing. Most cultivators do not refer to it as "Qi" because they feel that word is not enough to express or describe it. So, the general term "energy" or "power" is often used, or it's used interchangeably with Grand Dao Source (the laws). But at this stage of her cultivation, Wu Hong feels it's time to define that power. As such, she calls it Grand Dao Qi for now.

After adjusting herself to her peak state, Wu Hong began the breakthrough. First, her Dao Sea manifested outside, followed by three white pillars condensed from the [Three Transcendent Foundations]. The pillars floated above the Dao Sea for a second before embedding themselves into it; the bottom part fused with the sea, while the top remained floating above the surface.

Then, Wu Hong activated her awakening, which was a book with 3800 pages, each containing the seals that made up her Dao Quintessence Prototype. The book fused with the pillars, resulting in Laws of Chains that resembled the ones in the Grand Source wrapping around each pillar. Next, her Dao Will turned into symbols engraved in each pillar, and finally, Wu Hong summoned her Grandmist World, which materialized a few centimeters above the three pillars.

"The last step," Wu Hong thought. Her [Perfect Soul] exited her body, and with a thought, it began resonating with the Dao Sea, the pillars, the Law Chains, and the Grandmist World. With the soul acting as a conductor, the fusion process began.

The pillars began to slowly descend, permanently fusing with the Dao Sea and elevating its essence to a higher state. Everything proceeded smoothly until the Law Chains touched the Dao Sea. A terrifying repulsive force erupted from the sea, annihilating the entire process. Wu Hong vomited a small mouthful of blood while she quickly controlled the rampaging energy.

"Failed?" she thought as she swallowed a healing pill. Everything was proceeding according to plan, so why did it fail at the last minute? "Could it be that the foundation of the Dao Sea is not enough for the transition to a higher state? If that's the case, it's easy to fix."

Wu Hong swiftly healed herself before trying a second attempt. This time around, she changed the order of one thing: the Law Chain. Instead of allowing it to fuse with the Dao Sea first, Wu Hong ensured that the Grandmist World came first.

The result was extraordinary. The Dao Sea did not just expand in size as a container to contain more Dao Qi; its foundation—its essence — was also improved, which meant it would be easier to transition into a Grand Dao Source Prototype and give birth to Grand Dao Qi. At the same time, all the creatures in the Grandmist World transitioned into semi-energy life forms.

Their entire body was made into energy, which was usable by Wu Hong. And since she preserved their soul, these Creation Lifeforms could not only assist their creator in cultivation; they had also turned into energy batteries for Wu Hong. "I need to create a new cultivation system for them," Wu Hong thought. She needed to take full advantage of their status as "batteries."

But if that's the cause, non-body refiners will not be able to enter the Quasi Saint Realm."

So, for the third attempt, she used Source Blood from her heart to condense a Red Ocean that bathed the three pillars in red; she also used True Will instead of just the Dao Will. Unfortunately, while this method did significantly reduce the repulsive force, the breakthrough still failed.
